Abstract
1521636 Temperature sensing probe COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd 29 April 1977 [21 May 1976] 21042/76 Heading H1K A temperature sensing probe, particularly for use in coal stocks, comprises a temperature sensitive semiconductive device 1, e.g. a silicon diode, embedded in an electrically insulating water-resistant resin inside a relatively robust tapered metal shell 5, the device being in thermal contact with the shell such that in use it attains thermal equilibrium in less than one minute. As shown, the diode is embedded in a metal tube 3 soldered to a brass shell 5. In use, the lead wires 4, 4 are connected to an electronic measuring circuit. In the embodiment 2, Fig. 2 (not shown), the diode is fixed in a shell provided with projections on its external surface.
