Abstract

1485508 Test strip OLYMPUS OPTICAL CO Ltd 31 July 1974 [31 July 1973(11) 12 Dec 1973 20 June 1974(2)] 15728/77 Divided out of 1485506 Heading G1B A chemical testing piece comprises an elongate transparent strip on which one or more reagent containing absorbent carriers 11a-11g are arranged. A light impermeable pad 11w is also arranged on the strip and nearer to one end than any of the carriers. The positions of the carriers 11a-11g on the strip and relative to the pad 11w define a digital word as shown, which word is read by a photoelectric system measuring transmission through the strip and which defines the reagents on the strip. Changes in reagent colour are determined photoelectrically by reflection. The Specification describes systems for photoelectrically determining the test piece type and the effect of reagent on it and for calculating and printing the results of such determination.
