1470422 Cathode-ray tube displays HONEYWELL Inc 15 Aug 1974 [16 Aug 1973] 35949/74 Heading H4T In an information display system employed in a control system for controlling an industrial process a cathode-ray tube 4 (Fig. 1) displays a broad "overview" (but without detail), of the the total operating process, in separate group areas G1, G2 ... Gn (Fig. 2). When the operator requires a view of the detail of a particular group area, e.g. in the event that a fault condition is suspected, such area is selected by switches 12, 14 (Fig. 1), e.g. switch B3 (Fig. 2) selects group area G3, and the system then operates to display the detail of such area over over the whole screen ("a page") of a second display tube 6 having a plurality of switch selectable areas A1, A2 ... An. If further detail (i.e. detail of the detail) is required operation of one of the switches 24 (Fig. 1), e.g. switch C2 (Fig. 2) causes the detail of area A2 to be displayed over the whole area of the screen of tube 6. This whole area, "page", display may be "turned forward", e.g. to produce a trend page display, by operation of a switch D1 and "turned-back", e.g. to display past history, by operation of a switch D2. Alarm conditions are displayed on a third tube 2 and by means of keyboards 26, 28 and 30 the operator may change alarm limits and alter various working parameters in the process being controlled. The general organization of the system is shown in Fig. 7 and typical tube 6 displays are discussed with reference to Figs. 3 to 6 (none shown).
