Abstract

1457696 Consolidating earth CHEVRON RESEARCH CO 21 June 1974 27791/74 Addition to 1357603 Heading E1F Sand in a clay containing formation is stabilised by contacting the formation with an aqueous aluminium hydroxide solution formed from an aluminium salt solution and an alkali or alkaline earth base in which OH to Al is in the range 1.5 to 2.7. Water having less than 1000 ppm total dissolved solids is injected into the formation after the injection of the aluminium hydroxide solution and the treated formation closed in to allow for aging of the aluminium hydroxide.
