Abstract
1433172 Detecting moisture electrically IMPULS REGULATOR I LYCKSELE AB 13 April 1973 [13 April 1972] 17918/73 Heading G1N A moisture detector and alarm system includes a moisture detecting strip 5 having conductors 6, 7 corrected by a resistance 8 and operative to provide a signal to a threshold detector in an alarm condition detecting circuit 111 which provides an actuating signal to an alarm signalling circuit I when the signal from the strip exceeds a threshold value, there being provided testing means operative periodically to lower the predetermined threshold value below the normal value of the signal from the strip 5 in a non-alarm state. The threshold detector is constituted by a trigger circuit made up of transistors Ti, T 2 which receives periodically a test pulse from the collector of T12 via resistance R6, due to capacitor C7 charging via resistance R21 until transistor T13 triggers to discharge this capacitor and provide the test pulse from T12. The capacitor then re-charges and so on. Provided current is passing through strip 5 and terminal resistance 8 (i.e. strip is unbroken), the trigger circuit produces in response to the test pulse a voltage, via transistor T3 and diode D1, to energize the multi-vibrator T6, T7. This voltage also passes to RC circuit C1, R9 and produces a pulse to enable transistor T4 which acts via transistor T6 to block transistor T8 so that the alarm bell K is held inoperative, and which acts via capacitor C3 to block transistor T7 which blocks transistor T9 so that the alarm lamp L1 is held inoperative. Strip fault indication., Should there be a break in the strip 5 or resistance 8, the trigger circuit will not be triggered so that resistance R7 will not receive current from transistor T3. Consequently thyristor T10 receives no signal at its gate and having been switched off by the test pulse via capacitor C6 cannot be reenergized. Thus current from resistance R19 passes to the base of transistor T11 and the faultindicating lamp L2 is illuminated. Alarm indication. Presence of water on strip 5 triggers the appropriate alarm condition detecting section III, there being a plurality of such sections, to cause energization, as described above, of the multi-vibrator T6, T7. (Since T4 is able to block it only for the duration of a test pulse.) Thus the bell K and lamp L1 will be activated by alternate pulses from the multi-vibrator. A push button TK allows thyristor T5 to block transistor T8 via T6 to disable the bell whereas the transistor T7 is enabled to illumi- nate lamp L1 continuously via T9. Plural alarm indications. If another section III is triggered after button TK is pressed, a pulse is received from the respective capacitor C1 and diode D2 whereby T5 in section I is blocked so the multi-vibrator T6, T7 is re-started to give an alarm indication as before.
