Abstract

1336989 Valves H WATTS 19 April 1971 [14 Nov 1969] 55758/69 Heading F2V A mixer tap comprises a body 1 with a cylindrical shank 6, a housing surrounding the shank to provide a mixing chamber 13, hot and cold water passages 2, 3, a sleeve 7 mounted on the shank for rotation and reciprocation and having passage means 9 to co-operate with the passages 2, 3, and tubular sealing rings 10, 10a which bear against the inner surface of the sleeve. The sleeve may be rotated by a handle 22 to vary the ratio of hot to cold flow and reciprocated by turning the handle on a pivot 27 to vary the total flow. A vent 24 is provided for a cavity 20 so that the fluid forces on the valve are balanced. The outlet nozzle 18 may be made to swive], or a third passage may be provided in the shank to connect with a remote nozzle. The rings 10, 10a are of elastomeric material and spring-loaded.
