Abstract
1,239,093. Portable containers. ILLINOIS TOOL WORKS Inc. 30 June, 1969 [3 July, 1968], No. 32943/69. Heading B8D. [Also in Division A4] A seamless thin wall plastics nestable container includes lower and upper stacking surfaces 22, 20, arranged to permit stacking of identical containers with a space between bottom walls 12 and to maintain a non-jamming relationship between nested sidewalls 14, an internal projection 32 above the upper stacking surface and a further surface to co-operate with internal projection 32 on an identical nested container to hold the two containers together, either the projection 32, or the cooperating surface or both being resiliently deformable in response to substantial axial forces on the containers to permit assembly and separation. Preferably the lower stacking surface 22 is a continuation of the bottom wall. The internal projection may be circumferentially discontinuous (Fig, 3, not shown) or triangular in crosssection (Fig. 4, not shown). Preferably the arrangement is such that the stacking surfaces are held in sealing engagement when nested to protect a food concentrate 34 during transportation. Jamming is prevented by a small separation of the sidewalls of adjacent nested containers.
