Abstract

1,174,615. Cathode-ray tubes. RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA. 23 March, 1967 [28 March, 1966], No. 13847/67. Heading H1D. An electron beam deflection yoke is mounted on a cathode-ray picture tube by a discontinuous annular collar 23 which has a number of forwardly extending feet 24 which engage the tube, the gap in the collar being spanned by an arcuate bridging member 42 which has at least one end movable relative to the collar so that it may be adjustably fastened to the collar which grips the yoke firmly against the tube. As shown, the collar 23 is tightened around the front of a deflection yoke by securing a free end of the bridging member 42 to a ledge 37 of the collar using a bolt 39 and a nut 48 that has a tapering extension which cams into a recess in the bridging member, Fig. 4 (not shown). The other end of the bridging member 42 is either permanently fixed to the other end of the collar or, as shown in Fig. 3, may be adjustably secured thereto by means of co-operating sets of serrations on member 42 and shoulder 35 and, when properly adjusted, held in position by a screw 45. The feet 24 may be urged into contact with the tube by springs 26 which are also secured to brackets 16 affixed to cabinet 15 housing the tube. The rear end 19 of the yoke may be protected by a shallow cup-shaped member 28 which is affixed by means of resilient fingers to the terminal plate 21 of the yoke and has an arrangement whereby adjustment of the rear end of the yoke is facilitated.
