Abstract

1,135,196. An improved bath. G. E. COWLEY. 4 March, 1966 [7 May, 1965], No. 19278/65. Heading A4N. A bath characterized in that there is provided in the side of the bath an opening (15) whereby a door (22) can be fitted which is capable of being closed and the opening sealed by inflatable seating means. The bath may have an integral or removable seat (10) and the seat portion may be provided with spaced apart runners (not shown) extending across the bath from the open side whereby a person can be wheeled on a trolley into the bath. The door may be of horizontally or vertically sliding type having two sealing members, one of which is an inflatable tube (18), capable of being inflated by a pump (19) which can be manually or mechanically operated, located in the undercut portion of an undercut groove formed around the periphery of the opening, and the other is a non-inflatable or inflatable seal member adapted to bear against the opposite side of the door. A hinged door may also be used.
