Abstract

1,117,783. Valves. H. WATTS and D. E. WATTS. 14 Oct., 1965 [23 July, 1964], No. 29709/64. Heading F2V. A mixing valve for hot and cold water has a rotatable disc valve member 15 in the mixing chamber 2. Each of the inlets 3, 4 is provided with a sealing member 11 or 12 of resilient or elastomeric material slidable in counterbores 5, 6 and biased by springs 13. The disc may have a single port (16) or separate ports (33, 34), Figs. 2 and 4 (not shown). A small auxiliary port (27), Fig. 2, lags the main port (16) in closing direction to reduce surges at shut-off. In another embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown], the sealing members are carried in the valve member. A stop 25, projecting into a recess in the disc, limits rotation from closed through positions where the cold inlet is open or both inlets are open in varying amounts, to an extreme position where the hot inlet only is open. This extreme position may be avoided by a second stop 30 adjustable on splines 21 of the stem 20 to limit the proportion of hot water.
