Abstract

1,114,973. Door closers. BRANECKE ZELEZARNY NARODNI PODNIK. 4 Jan., 1966 [5 Jan., 1965] No. 293/66. Heading E2M. A spring door closer with hydraulic check means comprises a toothed piston 8 moved in either direction by a pinion on a shaft 16 carrying an arm connected to the door frame. On opening the door, springs 11, 11' are compressed when the piston moves to the left in Fig. 1 and oil in the chamber 4 passes along a channel 19' through a one way valve 20' to chamber 4 via an adjustable needle valve closed the valve 20' prevents fluid flow therethrough and oil in chamber 4' returns to chamber 4 via an adjustable needle valve in a passage 6. The piston 8 contains a second channel similar to channel 19' having a one-way valve adjacent to the left-hand end of the piston whereby the door closer can be fitted to either a right or left hand opening door.
