Abstract

1,106,259. Television standard converters. COMMUNICATIONS PATENTS Ltd. 17 Aug., 1966 [18 Aug., 1965], No. 35429/65. Heading H4F. The invention relates to a dual standard television receiver wherein the frequency of the line time-base is caused to change automatically so as to remain in synchronism when the line frequency (standard) of the received programme is changed. The receiver is designed to operate with 405 lines using positive modulation, or with 625 lines using negative modulation. Thus with the receiver conditioned to receive the 405 line standard, the peak whites of a received 625 line signal will cause false " sync" pulses to appear at the anode of the sync separator which will be out of synchronism with the 405 line time base. The false " sync " pulses are applied via input A to the control grid of valve V1. The line time base pulses are applied to the suppressor grid of the valve. Thus the counteracting pulses on the control and suppressor grids do not coincide, and current pulses pass through relay RY, which is thereby actuated. This actuates contact RY1 which alters the line time base and the sense of the sync pulse separation, and contact RY2 which, in the case of a fly-wheel line time base widens the pull-in range.
