Abstract

The decoder (3) has a processor (33) for implementing a time shift function in a part of recording medium i.e. time shift buffer memory (32), and coding data into a set of modes related to an audio language or subtitle. A detection unit detects the mode in which the data is decoded. A recording unit records the data only in single decoded mode in the buffer memory. The recording unit triggers recording of data when a filling threshold of the buffer memory and a flow of the data are greater than a predetermined value. An independent claim is also included for a method for receiving and recording audio video data on a recording medium.
