Abstract

The system consists of a transverse bar (1) for each vertebra, having its ends fixed to pediculo-vertebral screws (B) with specially-shaped heads (5,6). Each bar varies in length according to the inter-pedicule distance of each type of vertebra, and it has a ring (2) on each end inclined in relation to its lengthwise axis and having a hexagonal inner surface (3) shaped to engage with one portion (5) of the screw head. The screws have central channels (4) which allow them to be fitted over guide pins, and their heads have upper threaded sections (6) to receive locking nuts (7) with central threaded apertures (8) and holes (9) for a screw driver.
