Abstract

The switched mode power supply is designed to provide the supply voltage for a colour T.V. receiver's deflection circuits. The switching transistor and the rectifier need not be designed for extremely high loads, while satisfactory operational efficiency is maintained. Moreover, the circuit is simplified so that the diode modulator or similar circuit arrangements can be dispensed with. The natural frequency of oscillations of the transformer primary, the latter forming a series-circuit with a controlled switch is reduced by means of a capacitor connected in parallel with the transformer's primary. The transistor-switch ddrive or control circuit contains a gate, so as to prevent the transistor-switch being made conductive before the end of transformer primary winding's oscillation set up when the transistor is blocked.
