Abstract

The data transmission system is used for transmitting data from any station (5, 5', 5'', 5''', 5'''', 5'''''), connected to a common transmission line (3), to any or a number of these stations. A supply unit (1) supplies the stations both with control signals and with power in the form of alternating current. The stations have means for obtaining direct current. Each of the stations constructed as transmitting or transmitting/receiving station can reliably transmit data to one or more receiving or transmitting/receiving stations, even if the transmitting station is relatively remote from the supply unit (1) and the receiving station is arranged relatively close to this supply unit (1). For this purpose, the supply unit has a clock pulse generator and a current load provided in the transmission circuit. When a predetermined threshold current is reached, this current load drops the voltage of the clock pulse to a minimum value (5) so that the relevant clock pulse can be perceived as control signal by the receiving stations. Each transmitting station has a circuit for virtually short circuiting the transmission line (3) in order to generate the control signal.
