Abstract

Prepn. is by incubation of Streptomyces achromogenes var. tomaymyceticus ATCC 21353 in a suitable medium, followed by extrn. with a polar solvent or adsorption on a polar medium. The product may be chemically modified; it has the formula: where R1 = H, lower alkyl, lower alkylcarbonyl, aryl-lower alkylcarbonyl or arylcarbonyl; Y = -N=CH- or -NH-CHR-; R = lower alkoxy, aryl-lower alkoxy, lower alkylthio, aryl-lower alkylthio or di-(lower alkylamino).
