ART ANTERIEURPRIOR ART

A bank compartment, or safe, is a kind of locker equipped with a lock that banks rent to individuals who wish to store valuables there. The lock of a conventional bank compartment comprises two locking mechanisms associated with two keys which are respectively called the “customer key” and the “bank key”. When a banking compartment is rented by a customer, he is given the customer key which he must keep safe. Subsequently, when the customer wants to access the bank compartment, he must go to the bank with his key, and be accompanied to the safe room by an employee who has the bank key. The bank employee and the customer must use both keys in tandem to open the bank compartment lock. In general, the customer keys for the different compartments of the vault are all different, and the bank does not keep any copies when renting a compartment. The bank key, on the other hand, is generally the same for all safes.

In the most frequent case, it is the customer who must use his key first to activate the first of the two locking mechanisms, and the bank employee must then use the bank key to finish open the lock by operating the other locking mechanism. Once this operation is completed, the customer can access his banking compartment.

The customer key remains trapped inside one of the lock's locking mechanisms until the banking compartment has been closed and locked. To relock the lock, the customer must again call on the employee to first relock the other locking mechanism with the bank key. Once this is done, the customer can turn their own key back in the lock and remove it.

It will be understood from the above that each customer who wishes to access his banking compartment must go to the safe room accompanied by a bank employee. The latter must also remain available to the customer to then close the compartment. A first disadvantage of such a procedure is that it is costly in terms of personnel. Another downside is security. Indeed, we cannot absolutely exclude that a dishonest employee finds a way, for example, to discreetly borrow the bank key to make a copy. In addition, the loss of this key, or damage rendering it unusable, may compromise the proper use of the entire vault.

With the aim of remedying the problems which have just been exposed, it has been proposed to produce bank compartments which can be unlocked without using a bank key. According to this known solution, the lock of each of the bank compartments is equipped with a locking system remote control that replaces the locking mechanism traditionally associated with the bank key. Thanks to this change, a bank employee notably has the possibility of activating the locking systems of the various bank compartments from a control console located outside the vault. This solution is satisfactory when it is implemented in new installations which have been designed from the outset to operate in this way. On the other hand, it poses problems when it comes to modernizing a pre-existing installation which is composed of banking compartments with mechanical locks. Indeed, to change the locks, the bank must be able to access the interior of the compartments. Which is not possible without the customers being present. This poses problems of organization and contact with customers, and these are practically insoluble.

BREF EXPOSE DE L'INVENTIONBRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

An object of the present invention is to remedy the drawbacks of the prior art which have just been explained. The present invention achieves this object and others by providing, in accordance with its first aspect, an electromechanical device for unlocking the lock of a bank compartment in accordance with appended claim 1. It further achieves the same objects by providing, in accordance with its second aspect, a banking compartment in accordance with appended claim 8. Finally, it also achieves the same objects by providing, in accordance with its third aspect, an installation of banking compartments in accordance with appended claim 9.

According to the invention, the electromechanical device is fixed to the banking compartment; in other words, outside of it. Such an electromechanical device therefore lends itself to being installed on a banking compartment of a pre-existing installation, without it being necessary to open the compartment.

In addition, the key of one of the two locking mechanisms is pivotally mounted in the electromechanical device and is kept engaged in the locking mechanism associated with it. In other words, the key in question remains permanently coupled with the locking mechanism with which it is associated. This feature prevents removing the key from the lock without first dismantling the electromechanical device or at least without separating it from the banking compartment. It is therefore not possible to take the key away without attracting attention.

The electromechanical devices of the different compartments of an installation according to the invention are also supplied with electricity via an electric cable. An advantage of this feature is that electromechanical devices do not require a battery to operate. It is therefore also not necessary to replace the batteries periodically. It will indeed be understood that, in the case of an installation comprising several hundreds, or even thousands, of bank compartments, the replacement of the batteries would constitute an extremely long and tedious operation. On the other hand, to ensure the operation of an electromechanical device for a sufficiently long period, for example for a year, or even for two years, the batteries used should be relatively bulky. The presence of such batteries would therefore have the consequence of making the electromechanical devices more cumbersome.

According to the invention, the cables that supply the electromechanical devices with electricity also perform the function of a wired network through which the electromechanical devices can exchange data with a remote control station. It is in particular possible to control the electromechanical device of each of the various banking compartments, from the control station via the wired network. This feature gives the possibility of remotely switching each of the electromechanical devices in one direction and the other. between a locking configuration in which the key which is pivotally mounted in an electromechanical device is blocked and an unlocking configuration in which it is possible to actuate the locking mechanism with which this key is associated by rotating it.

DESCRIPTION DETAILLEE D'UN MODE DE REALISATIONDETAILED DESCRIPTION OF AN EMBODIMENT

This type of compartment is characterized by the fact that it has a lock which comprises two distinct locking mechanisms each operable with an ad hoc key. Nowadays, only a few examples of such compartments are produced. However, many banks still have vaults equipped with several hundreds, sometimes even thousands, of banking compartments such as that of the picture 3 .

The banking compartment illustrated in the picture 3 is in the form of a locker closed by a rectangular door (referenced 1) which is pivotally mounted on one of the walls of the locker by means of two hinges (referenced 2). When many bank compartments are installed in the same room, called the safe room, they each carry an identification number (referenced 5). The banking compartment illustrated in the picture 3 bears the number "55". It may also be noted that the door 1 of the bank compartment has the particularity of being provided with two distinct keyholes. A first keyhole (referenced 3) makes it possible to actuate a first of the two locking mechanisms with a key, and the second keyhole (referenced 4) makes it possible to actuate the second locking mechanism with another key. In the following example, the key associated with the first keyhole 3 is the bank key, while the key associated with the second keyhole 4 is the customer key. It will however be understood that according to other embodiments of the invention, it is the reverse.

The figures 1A and 1B are respectively front and back views of an electromechanical unlocking device which is in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the invention. The illustrated electromechanical device is intended to be affixed to the door of a banking compartment, the opening of which requires two keys (the compartment is not represented in the figures 1A and 1B , but it will be understood that it is the rear side of the electromechanical device which is fixed against the door of the compartment). In the following it will be assumed by way of example that the bank compartment on which the electromechanical device is fixed is the bank compartment represented in the picture 3 . The electromechanical device of the present example comprises a certain number of active parts which will be described later. These active parts are housed inside a box (referenced 11) having the general shape of a plate rectangular hollow which is open from the rear side (as shown in the figure 1B ). It will be understood that the width and the height of the plate are preferably equal to the width and the height of the rectangular door of the bank compartment on which the device is intended to be fixed. Referring now to the Figure 1A , it can be seen that the front face of the housing 11 has a shoulder (referenced 13) which separates a thicker part (the housing itself) from a thin blade-shaped extension (referenced 15). The two main functions of this extension are to facilitate the positioning of the box 11 on the door 1 of the banking compartment, and to reinforce the attachment of the box to the latter. It will however be understood that, according to other embodiments, the housing does not have such an extension. The figure 1B further shows that the bottom (in other words the front) of the case is doubled by a printed circuit board (referenced 16). The latter is intended to ensure the connection of the various electrical and electromechanical components of the device.

The electromechanical device of this example is designed to be positioned on the door 1 of a banking compartment in such a way that the extension 15 of the housing 11 is on the side of the hinges 2 (cf. fig. 3 ). Always referring to the Figure 1A , one can see a rotary knob (referenced 17) which is positioned in the extension of the axis of the first keyhole 3, and a through opening (referenced 19) which is arranged in the extension of the axis of the second keyhole lock 4. One can still see a light (referenced 21) and two crossings (referenced 23a and 23b) which all three communicate with the interior of the case 11, as well as two through holes (referenced 25a and 25b) which are provided for screws for fixing the electromechanical device to the compartment door.

We will now describe the active parts of the electromechanical device with particular reference to the figures 2A and 2B . The figure 2A is a schematic plan view of the rear side of the electromechanical device of this example. The active parts of the device electromechanical are arranged inside a housing (referenced 27) which occupies the space between the hollow housing 11 and the outer face of the door 1 of the banking compartment. The active parts of the electromechanical device firstly comprise a micro-actuator (reference 29). In the example illustrated, the micro-actuator 29 is a double-action linear actuator which comprises a motor shaft provided to switch by sliding longitudinally in one direction or the other between two predefined positions, in response to control signals received by the micro-actuator. It will however be understood that the latter could alternatively be an actuator or a servomotor of another type. The electromechanical device also comprises a lock (referenced 31) which is provided with a first and a second actuating arm (referenced 33a and 33b respectively). As can be seen in the figure 2A , the end of the first arm 33a is secured to the control shaft of the actuator 29 by means of a pin (not referenced). The electromechanical device finally comprises a distance sensor (referenced 35), and a first, a second and a third mechanical position detector (referenced 37, 38 and 39 respectively). Referring now to the figure 2B , we can still see a key (referenced 41) whose head has been replaced by the rotary button 17 already mentioned in relation to the Figure 1A . It can also be seen that, in the example illustrated, the key can be of the double-bit type, as is often the case with traditional bank compartment keys. According to the invention, key 41 is pivotally mounted in the electromechanical device. In the example illustrated, the axis of the key 41 passes through a hole in the housing 11 so as to protrude on either side of the latter. The end of the shaft of the key 41 which carries the rotary button 17 thus protrudes from the front face of the case 11, while the reception of the key 41 emerges from the rear face. It will be understood that, when the electromechanical device is fixed in position on the door 1 of the banking compartment, the hole through which the axis of the key 41 passes is located exactly in the extension of the axis of the first keyhole 3 originally intended for the bank key. The reception of the key 41 can thus extend inside the keyhole 3. It will also be understood that, as long as the electromechanical device remains fixed on the door of the banking compartment, the key 41 is retained prisoner at the inside the keyhole.

The other end of the shaft of the key 41 carries the button 17, and it can be seen that the portion of the shaft on which the button is fixed has the shape of a cylinder (referenced 43) of relatively large diameter. It can be understood that this cylindrical portion of the shaft of the key 41 comes to bear, via its end opposite the button 17, against the front face of the case 11, which allows the cylindrical portion 43 to pivot against the front face of the box 11 when the key 41 turns in the keyhole. Referring again to the figure 2A , one can see a lug (referenced 45) which is fixed to the end of the cylindrical portion 43 and which is inserted in an arcuate slot (referenced 47) formed in the wall of the housing 11. The length of the lug is enough to allow it to protrude from the slot inside the case. As the arcuate slot is concentric with the axis of the key 41, the catch travels the slot 47 in one direction or the other when the key 41 turns in the keyhole 3. As already mentioned, the housing 11 of the electromechanical device also comprises a through opening 19 which is arranged in the extension of the axis of the second keyhole 4. The opening 19 provides a passage allowing the customer's key to be inserted into the second keyhole.

We will now describe the operation of the electromechanical device of the present example. The latch 31 is guided in a slide of the box 11 so as to be able to move in one direction or the other parallel to the direction of movement of the control shaft of the micro-actuator 29. It is thus possible to switch the lock 31 in one direction or the other between an inactive position and an active position by controlling the micro-actuator. Referring again to the figure 2A , it can be seen that the shape of the lock 31 is represented in full in the inactive position of this last, and that its contour is also represented by a broken line in the active position. It can be seen in particular that, in the active position of the lock, the actuating arm 33a is superimposed on the arcuate slot 47. It will be understood that in this position it is not possible to rotate the key 41, because that the catch 45 abuts against the end of the actuating arm 33a. On the other hand, when the lock is in its inactive position, the catch 45 is free to move along the slot 47 in an arc of a circle. The key 41 is then free to turn.

When the banking compartments of a bank's safe room are equipped with electromechanical unlocking devices such as the one just described, a customer who wants to access his banking compartment must first go to the counter with his key and identity papers. Once the attendant has been able to verify that the customer is indeed entitled, he allows him to go to the vault. The attendant then remotely switches the lock of the electromechanical device which is attached to the door of the customer's banking compartment without leaving his post, using a control console. Arrived in front of his safe, the customer first uses his own key to operate a first of the two locking mechanisms of the lock of the door 1 of the banking compartment. He then turns the other key 41 using the rotary knob 17 to activate the other locking mechanism and finish opening the compartment lock. Once this operation is completed, the client can access the contents of his vault. The customer key remains trapped inside the lock until the banking compartment has been closed and locked. To close the lock, the customer must start by turning the rotary button 17 backwards, so as to lock the mechanism associated with the key 41 again. Once this operation has been completed, he can turn his own key backwards in the lock. and remove it. It is important to note, however, that the double locks of known bank compartments do not all work in exactly the same way. Thus, in accordance with other modes of embodiment of the invention, the customer may have to first turn the key which is permanently mounted in the electromechanical device, before being able to use his own key to operate the other mechanism. On the other hand, according to some of these latter embodiments or according to still other embodiments, the sequence according to which the customer must operate to close the banking compartment could be reversed.

As the procedure which has just been described illustrates, an advantage resulting from the installation of electromechanical devices according to the invention on the bank compartments of a safe room is that it is therefore no longer necessary bank employee accompanies the customer to his safe. However, this change may pose new security issues. Indeed, the customer who enters the safe room unaccompanied could possibly take the opportunity to try to access a banking compartment that is not his. In order to prevent this risk and more generally to improve safety, the electromechanical device of the present example is equipped with a certain number of sensors which are connected to a remote control station via a wired local area network which is also used to transmit the control signals for the linear actuator 29.

The distance sensor 35 already mentioned in connection with the figure 2A makes it possible to check in real time the distance between the opening and the frame of the door on which the electromechanical device is fixed. This device therefore makes it possible to know at all times whether the door of a banking compartment is open or closed. In the present example, the distance sensor is a laser (or lidar) sensor. Referring again to the figure 2A , it can be seen that it is arranged in the box 11 opposite the edge of the door 1 which is opposite the hinges 2 (on the pulling side of the door). It will be understood that the laser beam of the sensor 35 is oriented so as to strike one of the fixed walls of the banking compartment through the light 21. The person skilled in the art will also understand that the distance sensor 35 is not necessarily a laser sensor, but that it could operate according to another principle.

As for the mechanical position detector 37, its function is to check that the lock 31 is in the active position, and thus to allow the alarm to be given when the lock goes into the inactive position. Mechanical position detectors are known. They can operate on the principle of a small switch controlled by an actuating member such as a lever or a push button. In the present example, when the lock 31 is in the active position, it exerts pressure on the actuating member of the sensor 37. As soon as the lock 31 leaves the active position, the pressure that it exerted on the organ actuation is interrupted, causing the switch to switch.

The electromechanical device of the present example also has an “anti-pulling” alarm. This alarm operates using the second and third mechanical position sensor 38, 39 already mentioned in connection with the figure 2A . The sensors 38 and 39 are mounted in the casing 11 so that the front face of the door 1 of the banking compartment exerts pressure on their actuating member as long as the electromechanical device is fixed on the door. If someone detaches the electromechanical device from door 1, the pressure exerted on the actuating member is interrupted, which makes it possible to sound the alarm.

The electromechanical device of this example also comprises a mechanical emergency opening system intended to overcome any electronic or electrical failure. We have seen that the housing 11 of the electromechanical device has a through opening 19 which is arranged in the extension of the axis of the keyhole 4 provided for the customer's key. Referring again to the figure 2A , it can be seen that the end of the second actuating arm 33b of the lock 31 is located in the immediate vicinity of the axis common to the opening 19 and to the second keyhole 4. It will be understood that it is possible to actuate the lock 31 by inserting an emergency key through the opening 19 so as to push the second actuating arm 33b in one direction or the other, so as to manually move the lock 31 from the active position to the inactive position, or vice versa.

The figure 4 is a partial cutaway plan view from the front showing six bank compartments equipped with electromechanical devices each conforming to the exemplary embodiment which is the subject of the present description. It will be understood that the six banking compartments illustrated can form part of an installation comprising a much higher number of banking compartments. We have seen that, in accordance with the invention, the electromechanical devices of an installation of banking compartments are able to exchange data with a remote control station via a wired network (for example the bank's LAN), this the latter also ensuring the power supply of the electromechanical device and making it possible to control the latter from the command post to make it switch the lock 31 between its active position and its inactive position.

By referring to the figure 4 , it can be seen that the various bank compartments are connected in series using small interconnectors (referenced from 51a to 51h) which are in the form of cable portions that can be plugged in at their two ends. It can be seen that the interconnectors shown are each arranged to connect two neighboring electromechanical devices. On the other hand, as already mentioned in relation to the Figure 1A , the housing 11 of each electromechanical device is provided with two bushings 23a and 23b arranged in the shoulder 13. In addition, the electromechanical devices are provided with two plugs (not shown) which are mounted inside the housing 11 in such a way to be each accessible by one of the crossings 23a and 23b. It will be understood that to connect one end of an interconnector 51a, 51b, 51c, 51d, 51e, 51f, 51g, 51h to a plug, it must be inserted through one of the crossings 23a, 23b. It is thus possible to connect two electromechanical devices by simply connecting the two ends of a interconnector 51a, 51b, 51c, 51d, 51e, 51f, 51g, 51h on two plugs which do not belong to the same electromechanical device. It may be noted that in the example illustrated, the interconnectors are each formed of a portion of cable provided at each end with a mini USB male connector.

It can also be seen that in the example illustrated, the cables of the interconnectors do not connect the crossings 23a and 23b by the shortest path. On the contrary, the cables describe wide loops opposite the extensions 15 of the boxes. As shown in figure 4 , the loops described by the various cables extend over the major part of the distance which separates the mouth of the crossing 23a or 23b by which a portion of cable is connected to an electromechanical device, from the edge of the door (hinges side ) on which the device is attached. It will be understood that these loops allow the connectors 51a, 51b, 51c, 51d, 51e, 51f, 51g, 51h to absorb the variations in distances between their ends which are caused by the opening of the door of a compartment. In addition, the fact that the loops described by the cable portions are located opposite the extensions 15, and that the latter are each close to the hinges 2 of the door on which it is fixed, has the effect of limiting the extent of the lengthening of the distance between the ends of the interconnectors 51a, 51b, 51c, 51d, 51e, 51f, 51g, 51h, which is caused by the opening of the door of a bank compartment.

It will be understood from the foregoing that the small interconnectors 51a to 51h are part of the wired network which connects the electromechanical devices installed on the doors of the various banking compartments with the control station, the latter preferably being located outside the safe room. . According to an advantageous variant of this embodiment, the wired network which connects the electromechanical devices can be a LAN arranged according to a serial arrangement in accordance with which each portion of cable leaves one electromechanical device and enters the next. Finally, the serial arrangement can preferably be a loop arrangement.

It will also be understood that various modifications and/or improvements obvious to a person skilled in the art can be made to the embodiment which is the subject of the present description without departing from the scope of the present invention defined by the appended claims.
