Abstract
Description
The present invention relates exclusively to the field of mail processing and more particularly relates to a franking machine of simple and inexpensive design for use in an office environment for the printing of mail items in small numbers.
The present invention relates to a franking machine whose components, with the exception of the print head, are reduced to their simplest expression. An object of the invention is to provide a franking machine low cost and small size for the postage of a few tens of mail per day. Another object of the invention is to provide a machine without motorization of the transport of mail items.
These objects are achieved with a franking machine comprising a mail item printing module and a feed tray for supplying mail items with said printing means, characterized in that said feed tray comprises a double inclination to bring by gravity the mail items disposed on the plate against a retractable jogging flap in the same determined position at which said print module affixes a postal imprint.
Thus, the inclination in two directions of the feed tray eliminates the drive means of the mail items and directing these items to a single printing position. The machine thus obtained is particularly simple and robust because devoid of any moving parts.
Advantageously, said plate is inclined at an angle of between 60 and 90 ° in a first direction (X) and an angle of between 60 and 90 ° in a second direction (Y).
Preferably, the retractable jogging flap is movable and retracts after printing the postal imprint to allow under the effect of the automatic descent of the mail item in a tray receiving mail items.
According to a preferred embodiment, said mail item feed tray integrates a weigh module delivering a weight value of the mail piece placed on said feed tray and to be stamped.
- Figures 1 and 2 are two perspective views illustrating the franking machine according to the invention before and after a franking operation.
Figures 1 and 2 illustrate in perspective a franking machine of mail items according to the invention. This mail item, envelope or label, has at least one printed thumbprint, as is customary, at the top right of this mail item. conventionally, such a machine comprises printing means 10 of the mail article, typically an inkjet print head, a tray or
The feed tray can integrate a
In franking machines of the prior art, synchronized motorization means are provided for transporting mail items through the machine of the feed tray to the receiving tray through the printing means. In contrast, with the present invention which relies on the use of gravity (the gravitational effect) to move the mail item from the input tray to a print position and then eject the article from mail and printed to the receiving tray, it is no longer necessary to use these motorization means usually indispensable when the transport path of mail items is horizontal. This results in a postage meter of simpler design and high reliability due to the absence of these moving mechanical parts and their complex timing controls.
In addition, the use of gravity which involves the high inclination (typically 60 ° to 90 °) of the transport path of the mail items has the effect of significantly reducing the footprint of the machine and therefore to facilitate its use in an office environment.
To ensure perfect positioning of the mail article in front of the printing means, the
The franking machine of the present invention is particularly adapted to small numbers (at most a few tens per day) and, by its simplified and robust structure, it can be implemented in various environments, not only office, but also industrial or commercial.
