Abstract

The machine comprises a base (12) and a first stack (14) of articles to be franked and a second output stack (16) of articles which have been franked. The base includes a printing head (120) which applies the postage franking mark to the articles provided from the first stack in a first hopper (140). Transport rollers (124) carry the articles along a transfer path (122) to the output stack in the output hopper (160). A display (128) is provided alongside a control device (126), with both of these being linked to a processor (130) for management of the machine. The transfer path through the machine is inclined to the horizontal at an angle preferably between 10 and 30 degrees, such that articles taken from the bottom of the input stack are delivered to the top of the output stack.
