Description

The invention relates to a discharge device for taking out printed products from the transport channel of a gathering machine in which the printed products are transported in a traded stream and can be led out of the transport channel by an opening of a bottom part of the transport channel formed by a pivotable flap.

Extraction facilities of the type mentioned have long been known. They serve to remove from the transport channel faulty or controlled print products and in particular stacks or sheets from the clocked stream, without having to interrupt production. The printed products are discharged laterally or inclined upwards out of the transport channel either in the direction perpendicular to the printed product upwards or parallel to the surface of the printed product in these discharge devices. The change of direction during discharge takes place either with a positive fit with controllable flaps or with gripping elements that act vertically on the side surfaces of the printed products.

An ejection device of the type mentioned is known for example from DE 37 21 391 A. This discharge device has a clamping system which consists of a front and rear clamping device, which has pairwise under the force of a spring element cooperating clamping punch. These clamping dies are used to clamp the printed products to be rejected.

From CH 657 598 A a discharge device is known, which has a conveyor for discharging printed products, which is arranged at an angle to the transport channel. About this conveyor runs an endless chain, which is held at both ends of sprockets and forms part of the branch conveyor. On the endless chain a plurality of branch pins is arranged, which are pivotable between a retracted and an extended position. In the extended position, these branch pins detect faulty stacks to remove them from the transport channel.

With the discharge device according to DE 37 21 391 A, it is possible per se to weed out faulty printed products and in particular stacks, without interrupting the gathering machine. Since the printed products, which are usually stacks of multiple sheets, can be very different in thickness, this discharge device must be designed so that it can adapt to the thickness of the auszuschleusenden printed products, which required a relatively complex and expensive construction.

A discloses a device for turning a Printed product on the conveying path of a product stream to merge turned print products with a trailing printed product of the flow into a package.

A provides a device for collecting printed products, which are fed to form a package by means of investors a conveyor and checked at the end of the conveyor by a sensor device for completeness.

In a device for stacking printed sheets according to GB 2 289 032 A printed sheets are successively conveyed on a table and then dropped to form stacks down on height-adjustable stacking plates.

The invention has for its object to provide a discharge device of the type mentioned, which is less expensive to produce and yet reliable. The discharge device should work reliably even if in the transport channel one behind the other very different thick stacks are promoted. It should also be suitable for different formats and in particular different back lengths.

The invention is achieved in a generic ejection device according to the characterizing part of claim 1. In the ejection device according to the invention, the printed products to be led out or ejected are guided downwards out of the transport channel. The ejected print products must be taken neither with staples nor be caught between bands, but can be carried away with the support of gravity down and transported, for example, on a arranged below the transport channel belt conveyor. It can thus be discharged not only very different thickness products, but also different formats and in particular printed products with different back lengths, without an elaborate design would be required here.

A particularly simple construction results when, according to a development of the invention, the printed products to be ejected can be brought out of this through an opening in the transport channel.
According to a development of the invention, the transport channel in the region of this opening on a bottom part which is moved to lead out a printed product down when the printed product is at least partially on this bottom part.

A particularly reliable design results from the formation of said bottom part as a hinged flap. This is stored for taking out a printed product so that it can be swiveled backwards and downwards. If the flap is pivoted backwards and downwards perpendicularly to the conveying direction, then said opening is released and the product to be rejected falls downwards by gravity and thus out of the transport channel.

The lead out of the printed products is supported according to an embodiment of the invention by a blowing device, which is preferably arranged above said opening.

According to a development of the invention it is provided that at least one slide is arranged on the transport channel, with which the printed products to be executed are displaceable transversely to the transport channel. With the slider, the printed products are shifted towards the mentioned opening. This means that even very small formats can be reliably removed.
The slider is movable according to a development of the invention by at least one recess of a guide wall of the transport channel into the transport channel.
A particularly suitable embodiment results when this slide is designed in the manner of a rake and said guide wall has a plurality of recesses for individual fingers of this slider. The rejected printed products can thus be transported very precisely and quickly into said opening.
According to a development of the invention, the slider is guided in the conveying direction of the printed product with this mitlaufend. This results in a particularly safe and fast Move the printed products towards the opening.

Die Mitnehmer 5 sind gemäss Fig. 5 an einer endlosen Kette 24 befestigt und ragen durch einen Schlitz 9 nach oben in den Transportkanal 2.FIG. 1 shows a section of a gathering machine 30 known per se, which has a transport channel 2 in which printed products 3 are transported continuously in the direction of the arrow 18 in a pulsed stream. The transport takes place in a known manner, for example with a transport device 4, which has a plurality of finger-shaped carrier 5, which push the printed products 3 in the transport channel 2. The drivers 5 are shown in FIG. 5 on an endless chain 24 attached and protrude through a slot 9 up into the transport channel. 2

The printed products 3 are in particular stacks of folded sheets 28, with which books are made, for example, in a subsequent perfect binder, not shown here. The back length of the printed products 3 is indicated in Fig. 1 with L. The thickness of the printed products 3 or the stack can be very different. A printed product 3 may also consist of a single sheet 28. During transport, the printed products 3 are guided with the back 38 on a guide wall 6, which projects from a bottom part 7 substantially vertically upwards. The bottom part 7 is substantially horizontal and as can be seen, the printed products 3 are partially on this bottom part 7. Preferably, the larger area of the printed products 3 rests on an upwardly inclined base part 8 which, for example according to FIG. 4, is inclined upwards at a shallow angle. The printed products 3 are aligned accordingly in this area upwards.

The gathering machine 30 has a discharge device 1, which forms a section of the transport channel 2. This discharge device 1 has a frame 17, which has a wall portion 31 which replaces the guide wall 6 in the region of the discharge device 1. Accordingly, the base parts 7 and 8 are replaced by corresponding wall sections 32 and 33 from the frame 17. The transport channel 2 is thus not interrupted in the area of the discharge device 1.

The discharge device 1 serves to lead individual printed products 3 out of the transport channel 2. On the one hand can thereby faulty printed products 3 are removed or printed products 3 can be discharged for a check. Deleted defective products can be repaired or used for other purposes. It is essential that the ejection or removal of printed products 3 can take place without stopping the collating machine 30. The production must therefore not be interrupted during the discharge of printed products 3.

The discharge device 1 has in the transport channel 2 an opening 10 which is associated with a flap 11 which is fixed to a shaft 13 which is rotatably mounted about an axis 39 on the frame 17. The shaft 13 extends in the longitudinal direction of the gathering machine 30 and is located outside the area of the printed products 3 and at a distance from the guide wall 6. The shaft 13 is also located above the bottom part 8 approximately in the region of the free edge 8a of this bottom part 8. Die Welle 13 is rotatably controlled by a motor 12 or other suitable drive. In the rest position, the flap 11 completes the wall section 33, so that in this rest position the printed products 3 can be transported without interference even in the area of the discharge device 1. The flap 11 is formed according to FIG. 1 corresponding to the opening 10 and the top 27 of the flap 11 is in its upper end position in a plane with the wall portion 33. The connection of the flap 11 to the shaft 13 takes place with two angularly arranged at a distance from each other Arms 26 to which the flap 11 is attached.

Die Transportfläche 34 der Transportvorrichtung 16 befindet sich unterhalb der Öffnung 10.Below the opening 10, a transport device 16, for example, a belt conveyor is arranged, the transport direction in Fig. 1 with the arrow 19, at right angles to the transport channel 2, is indicated. The transport surface 34 of the transport device 16 is located below the opening 10.

For discharging a printed product 3, the flap 11 is pivotable in the position shown in Figs. 2 and 5. During this pivotal movement, the flap 11 is moved downwards and backwards, as shown, so that the opening 10 becomes free. The pivoting of the flap 11 is effected by a signal of the direction indicated in Fig. 4 control 23 to the motor 12. If a printed product 3 is above the opening 10 with the flap 11 folded away, this falls due to gravity down to the transport device 16 and is discharged in the direction of arrow 19.

Im Produktestrom der Druckprodukte 3 entsteht dadurch eine Lücke, wie dies in Fig. 2 gezeigt ist.2 shows a printed product 3 ', which has been discharged and is now transported on the transport device 16. This creates a gap in the product stream of the printed products 3, as shown in FIG. 2.

In particular for discharging small formats, a slide 14 is provided, which is arranged in or behind the guide wall 6 or the wall section 31. The slider 14 has similar to a rake a plurality of parallel fingers 35 which are arranged in corresponding recesses 15 of the wall portion 31. The fingers 35 are arranged parallel to the wall portion 31 and thus complement the wall portion 31 in the rest position. The slider 14 is mounted on a frame-fixed guide 36 and with at least one remote-controlled drive, for example a control cylinder 21 as shown in FIG. 4 horizontally in the direction of the double arrow 22 out - and herbewegbar. In the an end position are the fingers 35 in the openings 15 and in another end position as shown in FIG. 5 in front of the wall portion 31 and immediately in front of the slot 9. The movement of the slider 14 is also effected by a signal of the controller 23. Die Verschiebebewegung des Schiebers 14 Alternatively, the slider 14 may be guided so that it runs along with the printed product 3 in the transport direction according to arrow 18 when moving a print product 3 to be ejected. The slider 14 is also arranged in the region of an edge 37 of the opening 10, via which a printed product 3 to be ejected falls downwards. This edge 37 runs parallel and at a comparatively short distance from the slot 9. With the slider 14, a printed product 3 to be ejected can be pushed against this edge 37 and thus into the opening 10. The movement of the slider 14 and the pivotal movement of the flap 11 are matched exactly during the discharge, so that even small-sized printed products 3 are safely pushed into the opening 10. As can be seen, the printed products 3 are each pushed on the back 38. During this sliding movement by the slider 14, the printed product 3 to be ejected is moved by the adjacent driver 5 in the direction of the transport channel 2. The resulting of these two movements thus runs transversely to the transport direction of the transport channel 2 and pushes the corresponding printed product 3 into the opening 10, where it falls by gravity down to the transport device 16. The start times for the pivoting of the flap 11 and for the displacement of the slider 14 are format-dependent and are calculated and executed by the controller 23 on the basis of the format. This applies to both the forward and the backward movements of the slider 14 and the flap 11. After the discharge, the slider 14 and the flap 11 are immediately moved back to the starting position shown in Fig. 1. The discharge device 1 is thus ready for another discharge process.

With the discharge device 1 individual printed products 3 and of course several successive printed products 3 can be discharged. The rejection can be automatic or manual. Faulty printed products 3 can for example be detected by sensors and be discharged by appropriate signals to the controller 23 from the transport channel 2. For control purposes, the controller 23 may be arranged so that they automatically ejected printed products 3.

The discharge of the printed products 3 can be accelerated according to FIG. 4 with one or more blowing nozzles 29, which are arranged above the opening 10. During each discharge process 29 air is passed through the blowing nozzle on the top of the ejected print product and thus supports the gravity. The blowing nozzle 29 could also be replaced by a suction device which is arranged below the flap 11 in the space 20. In principle, however, other aids are possible, for example, mechanical aids with which the movement of the ejected print product 3 is supported down. In principle, embodiments are conceivable in which neither such supporting means nor a slider 14 are provided, and in which thus the auszuschleusenden printed products 3 are discharged through the opening 10 downwards solely due to gravity.

As can be seen, an adaptation to the thickness of the printed products 3 is not required. It can thus be discharged easily printed products 3 different thickness. The printed products 3 need not be taken when discharging, for example by means of grippers, and thus can not be damaged. Since the transport device 16 can be arranged below the transport channel 2, the accessibility to the transport channel 2 is not hindered. The inventive ejection device can thus be realized with relatively few and robust parts and is also reliable even if successively different thickness printed products must be discharged.
