Abstract

The information reduction system is used for the information relating to the driving conditions and the traffic conditions transmitted from a floating car to the traffic control centre, together with information on the vehicle position relative to a defined coordinate system. Each vehicle within the floating car fleet providing the driving and traffic information responds to instructions provided by roadside devices linked to the traffic control centre, indicating which information is required, the information transmission effected in accordance with these instructions, via an onboard computer.
