Abstract
Description
For test vehicles, IR distance sensors were integrated directly into the headlights or their transmitting and receiving units by means of light guides in the headlights coupled and projected onto the traffic scene with its own optics. This Solutions have the disadvantage that with direct installation due to the heat development in the Headlight expensive components are needed for the IR sensor while coupling Adjustment problems occur via fiber optics and, in addition, multi-channel systems are expensive become. In addition, these methods are not suitable for series application.
This invention avoids these disadvantages and is described with reference to Fig. 1 to Fig. 6.
Fig. 1 shows a headlamp housing 101 in which a projection headlight portion 108 and 106 as well as a gas discharge lamp are installed 107th The light from the headlamp is projected onto the traffic scene through the cover plate 102 with the beam path 110 . The distance sensor 103 is attached outside the housing, and its receiving diodes and laser diodes are imaged as an example 104 via the cover plate 102 onto the parabolically shaped reflector 105 . The reflector is coated in such a way that it is transparent to visible light in the 400-700 nm range from the gas discharge lamp, while it is reflectively coated for the wavelengths of 905-915 nm. The light from the laser diodes is thus projected onto the traffic scene through the cover plate 102 with the beam path 109 . The advantage is that the sensor 103 is outside the headlight housing and z. B. can be cooled by the ambient air or by the airstream. In addition, with simultaneous operation of the sensor and the headlight, it is ensured that a high output power can be delivered to the IR sensor by the eyelid reflex due to the high visible luminance of the headlight, without special precautions having to be taken for eye safety. An identical arrangement can also be used for the beam path of the receiver, the parabolic reflector of which can be arranged next to that of the transmitter 105 or above the transmitter.
In the embodiment of FIG. 1, the elements of the distance sensors with the parabolic reflectors ( 105 ) were centered, while the headlight range control of the headlights z. B. is operated separately. The illustration can also be carried out in accordance with FIG. 1a. Here, the front lens of the projection headlight 106 is used both for imaging the gas discharge lamp and for imaging the transmitter ( 104 ) or receiver of the distance sensor 103 . So that both sources can be used e.g. B. the transmitter 104 is projected onto the projection lens 106 via a mirror 111 and thus projected onto the driving scene via the cover plate 102 . In order to separate the light sources, the mirror 111 is reflective for the wavelength of the sensor, while the light from the gas discharge lamp is transparent or has a coating. A combination of both methods can be used for the transmitter and receiver. Thus, the transmitting portion 106 of the headlight portion can according to Fig. 1a, using the front lens be performed while the receiving part according to Fig. 1 is imaged via the parabolic mirror 105th
Another embodiment is shown in FIG. 2. A halogen lamp 201 is accommodated in the housing 101 in front of a reflector 202 . Except for surface 102 a, cover plate 102 is designed as a diffuser. The surface 102 a is flat and does not scatter. The IR sensor 103 is attached directly to the headlight housing 101 with its window 205 . The laser diodes 104 are imaged onto the traffic scene via a parabolic reflector 105 through the flat part of the cover plate 102 a. According to the section through the reflector 105 in Fig. 2a, this is designed so that it is vapor-coated on its inside with a layer 207 which reflects the light with the wavelength of the laser diodes, while it is transparent to the visible light of the headlight. The rear of the reflector 105 is provided with structures 206 which have a corresponding scattering effect in order to be able to design the headlight in accordance with the requirements of the light distribution.
The invention can also be developed in accordance with FIG. 2b. Here, the sensor 211 with its receiving and transmitting components 212 is designed so that its cooling fins 213 come into direct contact with the outside air in front of the vehicle. This is accomplished in that at least the cooling fins of the sensor, together with the headlight, protrude beyond the structures of the vehicle 215 .
The passage of rays through the headlight housing is ensured with the window 216 . The optical imaging on the driving zone is ensured by the mirror 214 and the optics 210 of the cover 102 . Both components 210 and 214 or one of the two components form the beam path. Of course, the position of the sensor is not limited to the underside of the headlight housing. With the appropriate cooling air supply, the sensor can be attached to the outside of the headlight housing at any point. The sensor can also be attached behind the headlight, only the reflector of the headlight light source must be transparent to the wavelength of the transmitter unit of the sensor. Both the transmitter and the receiver of the sensor use the headlamp as a transparent design element, and similarly to FIG. 2b, headlamp components can also be designed as lenses or beam shapers.
Another example of a front view of an IR sensor / headlight combination is shown in FIG. 3. Transmitter 103 includes one or more laser diodes 104 and one or more receive diodes 114 . The laser diodes are imaged by the cover plate 308 via the partial parabolic mirror 302 . When the halogen lamp 304 is switched on, a small part of the light comes through the partial parabolic mirror 302 and the cover plate 308 onto the receiving diode 116 and is used in the IR sensor as security for triggering the eyelid reflex.
One or more receiving diodes 114 of the IR sensor 103 are imaged within the headlight reflector 307 or at another location via the additional cover plate 309 on the partial parabolic mirror 301 on the same surface as the laser diode. The IR sensor sits outside the headlamp and still uses its cover panel and the construction elements of the reflectors. In addition, the IR sensor can be cooled via its heat sink 115 by the outside air or by the wind. A second halogen lamp 305 can be imaged via the reflector 307 .
The adjustment and the headlight range adjustment can be carried out in accordance with FIG. 4. The lamp reflector 401 is thus together with the sensor reflector 402 a single z. B. made of plastic or aluminum. Is z. B. the IR transmitter or receiver, the pivot point of the headlight reflector for the headlight range adjustment accordingly selected, the headlight range adjustment can be used simultaneously for the lamp and sensor. In the horizontal setting, the reflector part for headlights 401 and for IR sensor 402 moves to position 401 a and 402 a is z. For example, if the beam path of the IR transmitter is executed like 405 and the reflector for this sensor is a partial paraboloid, only another surface element is used for the projection, but the focus remains. Since the lamp is directly connected to the reflector for the headlight component, it is directly decisive in the setting of the angles, while for the fixed sensor and pivoted reflector, the pivoting angle has a double effect for the sensor image. This can either be taken into account in the design and setting, or the sub-components responsible for the sensor are only swiveled by half the angle.
In order to generate to ensure eye safety the palpebral closing reflex with certainty, the light from the halogen lamp 201 of Fig according to Fig. 5. 2b or 304 of FIG. Routed to the receiver 501 3, adapted in the pre-amplifier 502 and the control of the IR Sensor 506 supplied. If the lamp fails or is switched off, the controller 506 of the IR sensor reduces the output power of the pulse shaper 503 and thus reduces the output power of the laser diodes 502 by reducing the pulse power or the repetition frequency. If a signal which is too low is registered via the receiving array 504 and the preprocessing 505 when the lamps are switched off, the lamp is switched on again and the laser power is increased.
In the arrangement of lamp and IR sensor according to the invention, the halogen or gas discharge lamp is not only used to ensure eye safety, but is also used to heat the cover plate 102 . This means that ice or snow deposits are defrosted in winter and the hardware is dried off when it is damp. In a further development of the invention according to FIG. 6, the beam deflector 606 also of the emitted radiation and the imaged on receiver array 602 backscatter signals are used on their optics 605 and 603 for deflecting or scanning from the transmitter 604th In the example, vertical scanning is accomplished by plane mirror 606, which is controlled by stepper motor 608 . The horizontal deflection can be accomplished by rotating the mirror around the axis of the shrill motor 607 . The distance sensor 601 itself is accommodated outside the headlight housing 610 and is cooled by the ambient air or the airstream via the cooling fins 613 . The lamp 612 is imaged via the reflector 611 . Both the headlight and the distance sensor 601 use the same cover plate 609 . The mirror 606 is transparent to visible light, and has a reflective coating for the IR light of the sensor.
The examples are shown for IR distance sensors. The wavelength used of these sensors are in the near IR range from 780 to 1400 nm. Of course the arrangements according to the invention can also be used for other wavelength ranges be used. Because optical beams are possible from around 10 GHz the invention is also for high-frequency distance sensors such as Radar sensors can be used.
