A device, a driver assistance system, a means of locomotion and a method for the independent assessment of an emotional state and a cognitive load of a driver of a means of locomotion are proposed. The method comprises the steps: sensory acquisition of a physiological parameter of the driver, information technology-based detection of an interaction of the driver with a control element of the means of locomotion, determination of a traffic situation of the means of locomotion, and using the physiological parameter as well as the interaction and the traffic situation first assessment of the driver's emotional state and a second assessment of the driver's cognitive load using an electronically held reference. On the basis of the assessment made according to the invention, an actuator system present in the vehicle can be used to favorably or favorably influence the driver's emotional state and cognitive load.
Description
The present invention relates to a device, a driver assistance system, a means of locomotion as well as a method for the independent assessment of an emotional state and a cognitive load of a driver of a means of locomotion (hereinafter "driver"). More particularly, the present invention relates to the assistance of a driver of a vehicle in consideration of an emotional condition and a cognitive load.
- 1. A person's cognitive load can also be referred to as a mental "workload" and is the amount of attention or "computing power" the performer must spend to satisfactorily fulfill the task ,
- 2. The emotional state is quantified in the context of attention in valence (positive or negative mood) and arousal (narrow for "level of arousal / excitement"). It includes feelings like anxiety, stress, fatigue or excitement.
Subjective quantification of cognitive load and emotional state is often performed through questionnaires that are not practical for examinations during demanding tasks such as driving a car. An objective quantification of the cognitive load and the emotional state can be performed via measurements of physical and physiological parameters. For this purpose psycho-physiological signals, e.g. the measurement of a change in language (tremor in the voice indicates anxiety) or heart rate (higher heart rate indicates anxiety / stress, but may also indicate higher mental cognitive load levels) as well as galvanic skin conductivity (this increases) Stress) are detected by known sensors.
– Lenkrad – Fahrzeugpedale – Schalter – Informationssystem
- • a signal derivative of the brain (electroencephalogram): Alphaband frequencies increase in concentration of the subject
- • Acquisition and interpretation of facial expressions
- • Information of the eyes such as - eye blink frequency (lower blink frequency indicates fatigue, but also concentration) - pupil dilatation - line of sight
- • Information about the environment
- • interaction with interaction elements such as - steering wheel - vehicle pedals - switch - information system
Sitzposition)
- – die olfaktorische Umgebung (z.B. schlechte Gerüche neutralisieren, angenehme Gerüche verbreiten)
- – Gustatorische Umgebung
- - the optical environment (eg adaptation of the interior and exterior light and adaptation of the visual information)
- - the audio-acoustic environment (eg music, ambient noise, conversation, positive auditory feedback)
- - the haptic environment (eg by a function of the massage seat and haptic feedback, eg by vibration)
- - the proprioceptive environment (eg sitting position)
- - the olfactory environment (eg neutralize bad odors, spread pleasant odors)
- - Gustatory environment
Possible influences from the automotive sector, for example, are to reduce a driver's emotional stress. If an automobile has detected that the driver is stressed, pleasant light can automatically be switched on for the respective driver and pleasant music can be recorded to calm it down. One possible influence on emotional anxiety is that in response to an automatic detection of the fact that a driver is e.g. fearing a ride through a tunnel or a complicated construction site, driver assistance systems are perceptibly supporting the driver in this driving situation.
The approaches known in the art mix emotional states and cognitive stresses, thereby tolerating significant blurring of the driver's actual condition. Alternatively, in the prior art, only the cognitive state of stress or the emotional state of a person is determined and influenced.
The above object is achieved by a method for independently judging an emotional state and a cognitive load of a driver of a vehicle. For this purpose, different parameters are sensory detected and an objective distinction between cognitive states and emotional states possible. In other words, the two independent dimensions "emotion" and "cognition" are considered differentiated from each other. In a first step of the method according to the invention, a physiological parameter of the driver is sensed. Before or after an interaction of the driver with an operating element of the means of transport is detected by information technology. For example, since an interaction with an operating element can generate a signal by means of which a function assigned to the operating element is started, a separate sensor for detecting the interaction is not necessary, but not excluded according to the invention. For example, such interactions of the driver could be sensory detected, which are done with the control, but do not use the control to function call. Before or after, a traffic situation of the means of locomotion is determined and, using the physiological parameter as well as the interaction and the traffic situation, a first assessment of the driver's emotional state and a second assessment of the driver's cognitive load are determined by means of an electronically made reference. The electronically held reference may be, for example, a driver model that outputs output quantities for each of the emotional state and the cognitive load in response to the physiological characteristic, the interaction and the traffic situation separately from each other. In contrast to the prior art, it is proposed to carry out a differentiated analysis of the emotional state and of the cognitive load within a system in order to be able to prepare and / or carry out a respective influence on the respective causes. According to the invention, therefore, it is possible to respond more clearly to an up-to-date vehicle management competence in a much more targeted, needs-based and therefore more successful manner. As a result, participation in traffic becomes safer for both the driver and the road users in his environment.
The invention makes it possible to take into account the specific built-in actuator in the vehicle for the support of the driver of the means of transport. This actuator has been proven to positively affect the emotional state or cognitive load of the driver. The assistance of the driver of the means of locomotion is a key point of the present invention. While prior art systems merely alert the driver to a limitation, the present invention is preferably used to assess the driver's condition (emotional and cognitive) and the driver's control over a closed-loop system to optimize to affect the driver's ability to do so through appropriate driver modeling. In other words, influence on the condition of the driver is taken, the change of the condition of the driver sensory detected again and adapted the influence as needed. The physiological characteristic may include, for example, an eye movement characteristic and / or a blink rate and / or a heart rate and / or a characteristic for the blood pressure and / or an electrical conductance of the skin and / or an acoustic property of the driver's voice and / or body temperature. The eye movement characteristic can be detected, for example, by an optical sensor (for example a camera) and fed to an evaluation unit. The same applies to a blink rate. The skin conductance can be detected by a corresponding non-intrusive sensor in the steering wheel, The acoustic property of the voice can be recorded for example via a microphone (for example, a telephone system of the means of locomotion) and evaluated in terms of a time and / or frequency response in an evaluation. Sensor systems and implementations which can be used to implement the present invention are already known in the prior art for the other physiological parameters mentioned.
The control element, by means of which the driver undertakes the interaction to be detected, can be a steering wheel and / or an accelerator pedal and / or a brake pedal and / or a clutch pedal and / or an element for gear or gear selection (shift knob, speed selection element) and / or another element in the primary perception of the driving task and / or an operating and / or switching element in the interior of the means of transportation (eg for operating a user interface of an infotainment system).
The traffic parameter may be, for example, distance information of surrounding objects (for example other road users) which can be determined by means of radar and / or lidar and / or ultrasound sensors and laser scanners. Accordingly, the cruising speed of the means of transportation or a traffic jam can be used as a traffic parameter or characterize the traffic parameter. Thus, the quantification of the driver can take into account an up-to-date traffic situation and thus resolve ambiguities in order to influence the driver based on the cause later on.
Based on the first assessment of the emotional state and / or based on the second assessment of the driver's cognitive load, a mode of operation of the means of locomotion may be adapted for positive influence. For example, an operating state of a driver assistance system and / or a transmission / chassis and / or an adjustment of a light source (for example in a combination instrument, in particular in the form of a light intensity, ambient lighting, backlighting of controls, etc.) with respect to a light color and / or an intensity in the interior are made and / or a playback volume of an acoustic source in the interior of the means of transport are automatically adjusted or ambient noise are hidden. Alternative ways to positively influence the Drivers consist in an active emission of olfactory perceptible substances as well as an activation of a massage function (eg a massage seat). In this way, the knowledge about sub-optimal vehicle driving competence classes can be used as a reference for improving the driving comfort or driving safety.
- - Audio-acoustic stimuli such as music or sounds
- - visual stimuli such as lighting effects or lighting
- - Olfactory stimuli such as odors / fragrances
- - Haptic stimuli such as massage or feedback by pressure or vibration in the seat or steering wheel
- - Stimuli by changing the temperature or the oxygen content / CO2 content of the respiratory air.
The reference can be stored, for example, in the form of a table work and / or in the form of a mathematical model. In particular, the mathematical model takes into account predefined dependencies between the input quantities in the output of the first and second judgments. A further possibility for improved adaptation of the method consists in a driver-specific learning module which adapts to an individual driver (for example taking into account quantitatively perceptible characteristics of the driver (for example by driver identification based on a vehicle key, mass, size, voice).
Alternatively or additionally, the first assessment of the emotional state may include a first information characterizing a valence (ie a positive or negative mood). In addition, the first score may include second information identifying a wakefulness (arousal or arousal). Thus, different aspects of the emotional state can be considered and in particular influenced.
Preferably, the reference may make an assessment of suitability of the driver's interaction with the control of the means of transportation in view of the traffic situation. In this way, operator errors or misjudgements of the traffic situation can be detected and used to classify a current cognitive load condition of the driver. In this way, more information can be used as the basis for the first and the second evaluation.
According to a second aspect of the present invention, there is provided an apparatus for independently judging an emotional state and a cognitive load of a driver of a vehicle. The apparatus comprises storage means for holding an electronic reference (e.g., a mathematical model and / or a spreadsheet) and sensors arranged to detect a physiological characteristic of the driver. In addition, means for detecting an interaction of the driver with an operating element of the means of transportation are provided. These means may be, for example, the sensors inherently assigned sensors, which are provided for starting associated with the controls functions. Alternatively or additionally, the means for detecting the interaction can also capture or describe and analyze those interactions which are not suitable for starting the function assigned to the operating element. An example of such an interaction is a tap on a steering wheel rim of a steering wheel or on a shift knob.
In addition, means for detecting a traffic situation of the means of locomotion are provided, which can detect, for example, sensors for environment detection. An evaluation unit can be provided, for example, in the form of an electronic control unit, a microcontroller, a nanocontroller and / or in the form of a programmable processor, wherein the evaluation unit is set up, using the physiological parameter as well as the interaction and the traffic situation, a first evaluation of the emotional state of the Driver and a second assessment of the driver's cognitive load using the electronically provided reference. The features, combinations of features and the advantages resulting therefrom correspond to those embodied in connection with the first aspect of the invention so clearly that reference is made to the above statements to avoid repetition.
According to a third aspect of the present invention, a driver assistance system is proposed which comprises a device according to the invention according to the second-mentioned aspect of the invention and an actuator by which an information is output to the driver or a signal for changing a mode of operation of the means of locomotion to assist the driver in guiding the Means of transport can be issued. The latter signal, for example, activate a lateral and / or longitudinal guidance of the means of transport or output information messages for the objective improvement of the driving condition in critical driving conditions to the driver. The actuation may be due to the present Invention have an improved reference to the cause of the driver to be changed state. In other words, depending on the circumstances under which the cognitive load or the emotional state can be improved, one or the other, that is, the appropriate action, may be taken.
According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, there is proposed a transportation means (e.g., a car, a van, a truck, an air and / or water vehicle) comprising a device according to the second aspect of the invention and / or a driver assistance system according to the third aspect of the invention. The features, feature combinations and the advantages resulting from these also correspond to the above statements.
Es zeigen: Further details, features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description and the figures. Show it:
- – psycho-physiologische Messungen
- – Hirnströme
- – Videodaten der Gesichtsausdrücke
- – Videodaten der Augen
- – Informationen der Umgebung („Verkehrssituation“)
- – Informationen von Interaktionen
- - psycho-physiological measurements
- - brain waves
- - Video data of the facial expressions
- - Video data of the eyes
- - Information of the environment ("traffic situation")
- - Information of interactions
These data can be processed, for example, by means of automatic classification algorithms to classify emotional states and cognitive states separately and individually. Depending on the desired emotional and cognitive state, measures are taken which individually "regulate" the individual to the desired state, whereby separate emotional and cognitive measures are taken. In this way, any desired emotional and cognitive state in humans can be adjusted, provided that suitable actuators are available.
By deliberately reducing stress or anxiety, by using existing actuators in the vehicle and by specifically reducing fatigue and targeted reduction of cognitive overload, the driver's sense of well-being and comfort can be increased.
In contrast to the prior art, not only the emotional state and the cognitive state of the user are generally affected. The aspects according to the invention allow the individually differentiated quantification of emotional and cognitive states and the selection of individual measures by the actuators installed in the vehicle, which are to change the respective state. This is dependent on whether the emotional or cognitive state of the user is to be changed.
