Abstract
The invention relates to a method and a device for sorting objects of different format classes, in particular flat mail items. The items are divided into item quantities. For each item (GB.1, GB.2) of the first and each item (Bf.1, Bf.2, Bf.3) of the second set of items, a sorting feature is measured, and a placeholder (Pl.1, Pl. 2) for the item is generated. A sorting system (BfSA) sorts the objects (Bf.1, Bf.2, Bf.3) of the second set of objects and the placeholders (Pl.1, Pl.2) in a single sequence. The objects and placeholders are transported to a work station (AP). An image of an object (GB.1, GB.2) of the first set of objects together with an identifier for the placeholder is displayed on a screen device (Bg). The placeholder is then replaced by the object.

The invention has for its object to provide a method having the features of the preamble of
The object is achieved by a device having the features of
A sorting feature and an order are specified under the possible values of this sorting feature.
A format separator separates the items to be sorted into a first item amount and a second item quantity. This division is performed according to a physical property of the objects.
- A first measuring device measures what value a given sorting feature assumes for this article.
- An image capture device generates at least one computer-accessible image of the object.
- A given object is provided with a label for this item of the first item quantity. This will make the object a placeholder for the item.
A sorting system measures, for each item of the second item quantity, what value the predetermined sorting feature will take for that item.
The sorting system sorts all articles of the second article set and all placeholders for the articles of the first article set, depending on the measured sort feature values. As the sorting feature value of a placeholder, the sorting facility uses the sorting feature value of that item of the first item quantity whose designation the placeholder is provided with. So for this placeholder is.
The sorting system sorts the items of the second item set and the placeholders such that a single sequence among all the items of the second item set and all Placeholders is made. For this purpose, the predetermined order among the sorting feature values and the measured sorting feature values are used. The sequence with all items of the second item set and all placeholders is transported to a workstation. The items of the first item quantity are also transported to this workstation.
- The image of the object and
- - An illustration of the label, with which the placeholder is provided for this item.
The method according to the solution and the device according to the invention make it possible to combine the objects of the first article quantity with the objects of the second article article at the workstation so that a single sequence of all objects can be produced depending on the respective sorting feature values. For this purpose, the placeholder for an item that has already been sorted is replaced by the item itself at the workplace.
Thanks to the invention, the need is saved to provide an item of the first item quantity with an identification in order to be able to determine at the workstation which placeholder is to be replaced by this item, ie where this item is to be sorted into the sequence. As a result, the invention saves the step of printing the article or having to stick it on a printed label. This step takes time and can lead to errors. In addition, printing on the article is often undesirable because the print or label can deface or damage the article. In addition, printer ink and labels cost money and pollute the environment. All this is saved by the invention.
Thanks to the invention, it is not necessary to have the articles of the first article quantity sorted by a sorting plant. It is sufficient that the items of the second item quantity and the placeholders are sorted by a sorting system. As a result, it is sufficient to design this sorting system so that it is able to sort articles of the second article quantity. This sorting system can be optimized for a high throughput of articles of the second article quantity. The objects and placeholders can be adapted to the sorting system.
Preferably, at the workstation, the items of the first item set are sorted into the order of items of the second item set and placeholders, e.g. B. by a processor or a handling machine. In one embodiment, each placeholder for an item of the first item quantity is replaced by this item itself.
Preferably, a wildcard may be recognized and replaced in a sequence of items of the first item set and placeholders from the outside. This saves the need, for. B. in a stack to search for a placeholder.
Preferably, the items of the first item set to be sorted are placed in an item order and have this order when they reach the work station. This item order is z. B. made by a sorting system for these items. Preferably, the sequence in which the item representations are displayed corresponds to the item order. The first item representation of the sequence shows the first or last item of the item order, the second item representation the second or penultimate item, and so forth. This saves the need to search an item of the first item set in the item order. Rather, it is sufficient to grab and process the respective first or last item of the item order, because the image of this currently first or last item is currently displayed on the screen device.
Preferably, the sorted items of the second item quantity and the placeholders are transported to the workstation in a plurality of transport means. For each means of transport, a partial sequence of object representations is respectively displayed on the display unit, namely an item representation for each item of the first item quantity whose placeholder has been transported in this means of transport to the workstation.
This embodiment saves useless searches in the means of transport for a placeholder. This search would be useless because this placeholder was not transported in this means of transport to the workplace and therefore is not in this means of transport.
Dabei zeigen:In the following the invention will be described with reference to an embodiment. Showing:
In the exemplary embodiment, the objects are flat mail items (standard and large letters, postcards, catalogs, magazines and the like). Each item of mail is provided with information on one destination point ("delivery point") to which the items of mail are to be transported, e.g. B. to a house address or a mailbox or parcel compartment.
All mail items are to be sorted in a single sequence ("delivery sequence"). This sequence is a predetermined order among the possible destinations. A delivery agent transports the sorted mail items via a delivery route and in this case successively reaches the destination points in accordance with the sequence of orders. In order to save the deliverer's work, all mailpieces should be handed over to him in accordance with the sequence.
In the exemplary embodiment, two format classes are distinguished, namely the format class of the standard letters (in the USA: "letters") and the format class of the large letters ("flats"), including catalogs and magazines.
As a rule, many more standard letters are to be sorted than large letters. Therefore, it would not be economical to use a single sorting system which can sort mail items of all format classes. Such a universal sorting system would have too low throughput.
For this reason, two different sorting systems are used in the embodiment, namely a first sorting system for large letters and a second sorting system for standard letters. The second sorting plant functions as the sorting plant in the sense of the claims. The first sorting system can sort large letters of different formats. The second sorting system can sort standard letters with a high throughput. Each sorting system has a large number of sorting points.
In
Die Standardbrief-Sortieranlage BfSA hat mehrere Standardbriefe Bf.1, Bf.2, Bf.3 und Platzhalter Pl.1, Pl.2, Pl.3 sortiert und auf zwei Behälter SB-Beh.1, SB-Beh.2 aufgeteilt. The standard letter sorting system BfSA has sorted several standard letters Bf.1, Bf.2, Bf.3 and placeholders Pl.1, Pl.2, Pl.3 and split them into two bins SB-Beh.1, SB-Beh.2.
Beide Sortieranlagen GSA und BfSA haben Lese- und Schreibzugriff auf eine zentrale Datenbank DB.The three containers SB-Beh.1, SB-Beh.2, GB-Beh are each provided with a machine-readable identifier Ke.1, Ke.2, Ke.3. These three containers SB-Beh.1, SB-Beh.2, GB-Beh are then transported to a workstation AP with a data processing system DVA. The data processing system DVA has a screen device Bg. Both sorting systems GSA and BfSA have read and write access to a central database DB.
The mail items are collected from mailboxes, postal agencies and other collection points and then reach a format separator in random order. This format separating device separates the mailpieces into two article quantities, namely a first article quantity for the large letters GB.1, GB.2 and a second article quantity for the standard letters Bf.1, Bf.2, Bf.3 ,
In
Other mail items have already been sorted in previous sort operations, separated into format classes. For example, standard letters and, separately, large letters were sorted by sorting centers and (in the case of postal consignments abroad) by country. These mail items also belong to the item quantities.
In one embodiment, additionally or exclusively, at least one stack is sorted with similar large letters. This stack is z. B. from several copies of the same magazine and is transported directly from the printer to a collection point or to a sorting center and spent from there to the first sorting system, preferably without having been provided with addresses or other destination information. In addition, an addressee list is transmitted in electronic form to the first sorting system. In one embodiment, the first sorting system provides these similar large letters each with an address from the addressee list, and this address functions as the destination information.
- The sorting system separates the mail items supplied to it, so that a stream of mutually spaced mailpieces is formed, which passes through the sorting system.
- - A camera of the sorting system generates from each mail item in each case a computer-available image, in such a way that the image shows the destination information, with which this mailpiece is provided.
- The sorting system deciphers the respective destination information of each item of mail, for which purpose the sorting system uses the computer-accessible image of the item of mail. First, an OCR unit automatically attempts to decode the target point information in the image using "optical character recognition". If this is not successful, the image is transmitted to a video coding station and displayed there on a screen device. An editor reads the destination information and inputs at least a portion of the destination via a keyboard or voice input or other input device.
- - The sorting determines which sorting end the mail item is to be ejected. For this purpose, the sorting system evaluates a computer-available sorting plan. This sorting plan assigns a sorting end point to each possible destination point.
- The sorting system discharges the mail item into the determined sorting end location.
In
In the exemplary embodiment, the second sorting system BfSA already sorts the standard letters Bf.1, Bf.2, Bf.3 to the delivery sequences of carriers ("carrier delivery sequence"). Because there are significantly more possible destinations than sorting points, the second sorting system BfSA carries out several sorting runs ("n-pass sequencing"). After each sorting run, the sorting end points are emptied. In a subsequent sorting run, the mail items again pass through the second sorting system BfSA and are discharged again. The sorting plan specifies a sorting end point for each sorting run and each possible destination point. After the last sorting run, mail items for different destination points are rejected in each sorting end station, and the mail items in the same sorting end location are sorted under destination points according to the predetermined sequence of courses. This sequence of actions functions as the predetermined order among the possible sorting feature values.
In the exemplary embodiment, it is not necessary for the first sorting system GSA to sort the large letters GB.1, GB.2 in sequence, ie. H. it is not necessary to sort the large letters GB.1, GB.2 separately from the standard letters on sequence. It is sufficient that the large letters GB.1, GB.2 (in general: the mail of the first format class) once pass through the first sorting system GSA and then it is clear how many large letters GB.1, GB.2 are to be transported to which destination points ,
It is even possible that the first sorting system GSA has no OCR unit at all and each destination point of a large letter GB.1, GB.2 is entered by a processor in the video coding station.
- The first sorting system GSA generates an identifier ("ID") for the large letter GB.1, GB.2. This identifier distinguishes the large letter from all other large letters GB.1, GB.2 and from all standard letters Bf.1, Bf.2, Bf.3, which pass through the first sorting system GSA or another sorting system in a given period of time.
- The first sorting system GSA generates a sorting information for the large letter GB.1, GB.2. This sorting information depends on the deciphered destination point information on the large letter GB.1, GB.2. With the aid of this sorting information, the second sorting system BfSA would be able to sort the large letter GB.1, GB.2 in accordance with the predetermined sequence, if the big letter were not too large to be sorted by the second sorting system BfSA.
- The first sorting system GSA generates a data record for this large letter GB.1, GB.2. This record contains the identifier for the large letter, the sorting information and the image Abb-GB.1, Abb-GB.2 of the large letter GB.1, GB.2. This data record is stored in the central database DB.
- Preferably, the large letter GB.1, GB.2 is not provided with an encoding of the identifier ("ID code") and also not with an encoding of the sorting information. This saves material for the coding, and an undesired change of the large letter GB.1, GB.2 is avoided.
B. in
- - The first sorting system GSA stores all datasets for large letters in the central database DB. The second sorting system BfSA has read access to this central database DB.
- - For each large letter GB.1, GB.2 a placeholder Pl.1, Pl.2 is generated. This placeholder Pl.1, Pl.2 has such dimensions that the placeholder Pl.1, Pl.2 belongs to the second format class and can be sorted by the second sorting system BfSA according to the predetermined sequence of steps.
- The second sorting system BfSA sorts the standard letters Bf.1, Bf.2, Bf.3 (in general: the mailpieces of the second format class) together with the placeholders Pl.1, Pl.2 for the large letters. After this sorting, the placeholders Pl.1, Pl.2 are distributed together with the standard letters Bf.1, Bf.2, Bf.3 to the sorting end points of the second sorting installation BfSA.
In one embodiment, the placeholders Pl.1, Pl.2 are generated by the cards are supplied to the second sorting BfSA, which belong to the second format class due to their dimensions, but optically distinguishable from the standard letters Bf.1, Bf.2, Bf.3 are. For example, the cards have colors that distinguish the cards from the standard letters Bf.1, Bf.2, Bf.3, or are slightly larger than the standard letters.
In a preferred embodiment reusable cards are used, which are provided from the outset with different identifiers and thus distinguishable. The first sorting system GSA or the second sorting system BfSA determines these card identifiers, eg. B. while the cards with the card identifiers go through the sorting system. One of the sorting systems establishes an association between in each case one card identifier and one large-letter identifier and thereby makes this card a placeholder for the large-letter. It is possible that the cards are fed with the identifiers together with the standard letters Bf.1, Bf.2, Bf.3 the second sorting BfSA and pass through the second sorting BfSA and the second sorting BfSA the assignments and all cards and all standard letters sorted.
The same card with the same card ID will be used as a placeholder for another large letter in a later sort. The card thereby becomes a placeholder for the other large letter, establishing an association between the unchanged card identifier and the identifier of the other large letter.
Die erste Sortieranlage GSA ergänzt den Datensatz für diesen Großbrief GB.1, GB.2 um das Abbild Abb-Pl.1, Abb-Pl.2 des Platzhalters Pl.1, Pl.2.In one embodiment, the second sorting system BfSA generates an image Abb-Pl.1, Abb-Pl.2 of the placeholder Pl.1, Pl.2, which shows the identifier of the large letter GB.1, GB.2, with the placeholder Pl .1, Pl.2 is provided. The first sorting system GSA supplements the data set for this large letter GB.1, GB.2 by the image Abb-Pl.1, Abb-Pl.2 of the placeholder Pl.1, Pl.2.
In another embodiment, it is assumed that each placeholder Pl.1, Pl.2 as described above from a reusable object, for. B. a card, with an individual card identifier generated. In an image database, a data record is generated for each card, which contains an encoding of the card identifier in an image of the card, which shows the card identifier. If necessary, the map ID is used to search for the image for the map.
In a modification, the placeholders Pl.1, Pl.2 are not generated by the second sorting installation BfSA, but by the first sorting installation GSA or by another sorting installation. In all cases, the second sorting system BfSA reads the data records with sorting information for the large letters GB.1, GB.2 and evaluates them.
- The second sorting system BfSA deciphers the identifier on the placeholder Pl.1, Pl.2 and determines which large letter GB.1, GB.2 of this wildcard identifier is assigned. After that, the second sorting system BfSA "knows" that this object is a placeholder and not a standard letter. On the other hand, the second sorting system BfSA "knows" because of the decoded identifier for which large letter this placeholder Pl.1, Pl.2 was generated.
- The second sorting system BfSA issues a query to the central database DB, this query comprising the decoded identifier.
- - A server of the central database DB determines the record for a large letter GB.1, GB.2, which includes this identifier, and returns in response to the query, the sorting information contained in this record.
- - The second sorting system BfSA sorts the placeholder Pl.1, Pl.2 depending on this sorting information.
In another embodiment, cards are saved. As a placeholder standard letters are used instead, which have passed through the second sorting BfSA.
- The second sorting system BfSA generates an identifier which distinguishes this standard letter from all other standard letters and all large letters.
- The second sorting system BfSA generates a sorting information for the standard letter.
- The second sorting system BfSA generates a data record for the standard letter, which comprises the identifier and the sorting information for the standard letter.
- In one embodiment, the data record additionally comprises an image of the standard letter.
- The second sorting system BfSA stores this data record in the central database.
As a rule, the second sorting system BfSA carries out these steps for all standard letters anyway.
- The first sorting system GSA generates or determines the sorting information for the large letter GB.1, GB.2 as described above.
- - The first sorting GSA directs a request to the central database DB, which includes the sorting information for the large letter GB.1, GB.2.
- - The server of the central database DB determines a record for a standard letter Bf.1, Bf.2, Bf.3, which has the same sorting information as the sorting information in the query, or determines that there is no such record, and delivers in response to the request either the identifier in a determined record for a standard letter or the false return.
- The first sorting system GSA supplements the data set for the large letter GB.1, GB.2 by the identifier of the determined standard letter Bf.1, Bf.2, Bf.3 with the same sorting information or by an identification of the incorrect display.
- Only if no standard letter Bf.1, Bf.2, Bf.3 with the same sorting information as the large letter GB.1, GB.2 is found, the second sorting system BfSA generates a placeholder for the large letter GB as described above .1, GB.2. Otherwise, the standard letter Bf.1, Bf.2, Bf.3, to which the determined record belongs, also acts as a placeholder for the large letter GB.1, GB.2.
It is possible that the same standard letter acts as a placeholder for several large letters with identical sorting information.
The first sorting system GSA removes the large letters GB.1, GB.2 in sorting outlets. From there, the large letters are put into containers. Each container GB-Beh is preferably provided with a unique identifier Ke.3. This identifier Ke.3 is mounted in a machine-readable form on the container GB-Beh, z. As a bar pattern ("bar code") or in an RFID chip or other mobile data storage.
So far, the case has been described that each large letter GB.1, GB.2 provided from the outset with target point information or is provided in the course of sorting with target point information. The latter is carried out in particular when a large-scale consignor delivers many similar large letters or has them delivered by a printer and in addition an electronic addressee list is transmitted to the first sorting system GSA.
In a modification, the first sorting system determines how many copies of these similar large letters are to be spent on the at least one workstation AP. This at least one workstation AP is responsible for at least one range of target points. In order to determine the number of copies, the first sorting system GSA evaluates the transmitted addressee list and a determination for which destination points the work center AP is responsible.
For each destination in the addressee list, which is in the area of responsibility of the workstation AP, a placeholder Pl.1, Pl.2 is generated in each case and sorted by the second sorting installation BfSA as described above. The determined number of copies of the similar large letters is spent directly to this workstation AP.
An empty container GB-Beh with a machine-readable identifier Ke.3 is placed on a contact surface of the first sorting system GSA. The first sorting system GSA reads the identifier of the container, z. B. via a contact interface or contactless. This contact surface is assigned to a sorting end of the first sorting system GSA. The large letters GB.1, GB.2 in the sorting end are placed in the container GB-Beh. The first sorting system GSA stores the information from which large letters are now in this container GB-Beh with the read identifier. For example, the first sorting system GSA supplements the record for the large letter by the identifier of the container. Preferably, the first sorting system additionally stores in which order the large letters are located in the container GB-Beh.
The standard letters Bf.1, Bf.2, Bf.3 and the placeholders Pl.1, Pl.2 are also discharged into sorting outlets and from there into containers SB-Beh.1, SB-Beh.2. The second sorting system BfSA again reads the identifier Ke.1, Ke.2 of each container SB-Beh.1, SB-Beh.2. The second sorting system BfSA stores the information as to which placeholder Pl.1, Pl.2 is located in which container SB-Beh.1, SB-Beh.2. Preferably, the second sorting system BfSA additionally stores the order in which the placeholders and standard letters are located in the container. If standard letters are used as placeholders, the second sorting system BfSA additionally stores the information as to which standard letters used as placeholders are in which container.
- A workstation computer DVA with a display device Bg,
- - two bearing surfaces for containers,
- - In one embodiment, at least one reader for container identifiers Ke.1, Ke.2, Ke.3 and
- - An input device for confirmations and error messages.
- - A large-letter container GB-Beh with large letters GB.1, GB.2 is placed in a position in which the at least one reader is able to read the container identifier Ke.3.
- The container identifier Ke.3 of the large-letter container GB-Beh is read.
- - The large-letter container GB-Beh with large letters GB.1, GB.2 is placed on the one support surface.
- - A standard letterbox SB-Beh.1, SB-Beh.2 with standard letters Bf.1, Bf.2, Bf.3 and placeholders Pl.1, Pl.2 is placed in a position in which at least one reader the Container identifier Ke.1, Ke.2 can read.
- The container identifier Ke.1, Ke.2 of the standard letter container SB-Beh.1, SB-Beh.2 is read.
- - The standard letterbox SB-Beh.1, SB-Beh.2 with some standard letters Bf.1, Bf.2, Bf.3 and some placeholders Pl.1, Pl.2 is placed on the other support surface.
- - Two container identifiers Ke.1, Ke.2, Ke3 are transmitted to the workstation computer DVA.
- - which large letters are in the large-letter container GB-Beh and
- - Which placeholders Pl.1, Pl.2 are in the standard letterbox SB-Beh.1, SB-Beh.2.
- The workstation computer DVA establishes a display order among the identifiers of those large letters GB.1, GB.2 in the large-letter container GB-Beh, whose placeholders Pl.1, Pl.2 are in the standard letterbox. If the order of the large letters was stored in the large-letter container, then the display order is preferably equal to the stored large-letter order.
Subsequently, for the large letters GB.1, GB.2 in the large-letter container GB-Beh, whose placeholders Pl.1, Pl.2 are in the standard letterbox SB-Beh.1, SB-Beh.2, successively the following steps The workstation DVA generates an object representation for the large letter GB.1, GB.2 and controls the display device Bg in such a way that the video display device Bg represents this large letter representation.
- - The image Abb-GB.1, Abb-GB.2 of the large letter GB.1, GB.2, which is included in the data set for the large letter GB.2, GB.2 and
- - the identifier of the placeholder Pl.1, Pl.2 for this large letter GB.1, GB.2 as a string or
- - the image of the placeholder Pl.1, Pl.2 with this identifier.
Preferably, in addition, the deciphered or specified in an addressee list destination information on the large letter GB.1, GB.2 are shown separately in text form as part of the object representation.
If a standard letter Bf.1, Bf.2, Bf.3 with the same sorting information is used as a placeholder, an image of the standard letter is displayed as part of the object representation instead of the identifier of the placeholder.
In one embodiment, in addition to the control, the next item display according to the display order is displayed.
- - A processor or an automatic handling machine searches in the large letterbox GB-Beh for that large letter whose image is displayed in the current object representation on the screen device Bg. The displayed target point facilitates the search, especially if there are several similar large letters to different target points in the large-letter container GB-Beh.
- - If the processor does not find this large letter in the large letter container GB-Beh, he enters an error message in the input device. This error message describes the failure to find the large letter.
- Otherwise, the processor removes the found large letter GB.1, GB.2 from the large-letter container GB-Beh.
- - The processor searches in the standard letterbox SB-Beh.1, SB-Beh.2 after the placeholder Pl.1, Pl.2 for the large letter. For this search, the engineer uses the displayed identifier of the placeholder.
- - If the engineer does not find the placeholder in the standard letterbox SB-Beh.1, SB-Beh.2, he enters a corresponding error message in an input device of the workstation.
- - Otherwise, the processor inserts the large letter in the correct place in the standard letterbox SB-Beh.1, SB-Beh.2.
- - If the placeholder Pl.1, Pl.2 is a standard letter, the processor inserts the large letter immediately after this standard letter.
- - If the placeholder Pl.1, Pl.2 was created by providing a card with the ID of the large letter GB.1, GB.2, the processor replaces the placeholder with the large letter.
- - The processor enters a confirmation in the input device. This input triggers the step of displaying the next item representation.
These steps are performed until the display order is completed. These steps are performed for each container GB-Beh with large letters. If reusable cards are used as placeholders, these cards are collected and reused as placeholders.
It is possible that the placeholders for the large letters in a large-letter container GB-Beh are distributed over several standard letter boxes. The standard letter containers SB-Beh.1, SB-Beh.2 are marked with the identifiers Ke.1, Ke.2 in a human-readable form.
- - As soon as a large-letter container GB-Beh was placed on the one bearing surface, reads the workstation computer DVA its identifier and determines the identifiers of all those standard letter container SB-Beh.1, SB-Beh.2, in which placeholder for Large letters are in this large letter container.
- The workstation DVA generates a message with an identifier for such a standard letterbox.
- - These standard letter containers SB-Beh.1, SB-Beh.2 are placed on the other support surface.
- - The workstation computer DVA reads the identifier of the standard letterbox and checks whether the correct standard letterbox has been placed on the other support surface.
- - Large letters from the large letter container GB-Beh are sorted as described above in the standard letterbox.
This is carried out until all large letters GB.1, GB.2 have been distributed from the large-letter container GB-Beh to one or more standard-letter containers SB-Beh.1, SB-Beh.2. This embodiment avoids that a standard letter tray is uselessly placed on the other support surface, namely useless, because there is no placeholder for a large letterbox in this standard letter box.
In the embodiment described so far, each container is provided with a machine-readable identifier. A reader reads this machine-readable identifier. In a modification, no reader for machine-readable container identifiers Ke.1, Ke.2 is required. Rather, the containers are provided with identifiers that can be read by a human. The processor at the workplace reads the respective identifier on a container and enters this read identifier by means of an input device of the workplace, z. B. by keyboard or by selecting from a selection menu or by voice.
In the embodiment described so far, each large letter GB.1, GB.2 is provided with destination information when the large letter GB.2, GB.2 reaches the workstation AP, or is provided at the workstation AP with these destination information. It is also possible that several similar large letters reach the workplace AP, without having been provided with destination information, z. B. several copies of the same journal.
