Abstract
Description
- a) mindestens einer LED als Leuchtmittel;
- b) einer Stromversorgungseinrichtung für die LED.
- a) at least one LED as a light source;
- b) a power supply device for the LED.
Neon signs of this type are known in great variety, so that it requires no pressure-record. LEDs are increasingly being used as light sources, as they offer great advantages over conventional light sources in terms of power consumption, service life and freedom from maintenance. In known neon signs of this type takes place over time due to aging processes of the electronic components, in particular the LEDs, a decrease in brightness instead, which is undesirable. In particular, even if composed of several parts, such as several letters, neon signs should be within the neon sign no brightness differences occur, even if only a part of the neon sign has been replaced after a repair.
Object of the present invention is to design a neon sign of the type mentioned in such a way that their brightness is substantially independent of aging processes.
- c) einen Helligkeitssensor, der die von der LED erzeugte Lichtintensität misst;
- d) einen Speicher, in dem ein für die Anfangshelligkeit der LED repräsentatives Signal abspeicherbar ist;
- c) a brightness sensor that measures the light intensity generated by the LED;
- d) a memory in which a signal representative of the initial brightness of the LED can be stored;
- e) a control device to which the current output signal of the brightness sensor is supplied as the actual signal and the value stored in the memory as the desired signal and which controls the power supply device so that the actual value is brought to the desired value.
According to the invention, therefore, the brightness of the neon sign is constantly monitored and, if necessary, brought back to that value which the (new) LED had when the neon sign was in operation. A decrease in brightness does not take place until the complete failure of the LED; However, this is bought by increasing energy consumption over time. Replacement of individual parts of a multi-part neon sign, for example a single word letter, does not lead to brightness differences between the individual neon sign parts when using the present invention.
- f) eine Uhr, welche die Zeit nach Inbetriebnahme der Leuchtreklame misst;
- g) einen Sensor für einen Parameter der Betriebsbedingungen, insbesondere für die Temperatur und/oder die Luftfeuchtigkeit;
- f) a clock which measures the time after the neon sign is put into operation;
- g) a sensor for a parameter of the operating conditions, in particular for the temperature and / or the humidity;
- h) a memory in which a characteristic field is stored which describes the aging behavior of the LED under the influence of the parameter detected by the sensor; in which
- i) the control device is configured such that it compares the measured actual value of the intensity taking into account the time measured by the clock and the time profile of the operating parameter measured by the sensor with an expected value taken from the characteristic field and interrupts the further energization of the LED and / or generates a warning signal if the actual value of the intensity deviates from the expected value by a certain amount.
The aging behavior of LEDs is known to the respective manufacturers and can also be taken from data sheets. Therefore, a characteristic field, which describes, for example, the aging behavior of the LED used in each case at certain temperatures over time, can be deposited in a memory provided in the neon sign according to the invention. From this memory can then be taken in accordance with the time that has elapsed since the commissioning of the LED and taking into account the measured by the sensor time course of the parameter, such as the time course of the operating temperature, a expected value, which normally the intensity of the LED given light at the corresponding "past" should play. If the actually measured light intensity differs significantly from this expected value, this means that there is no simple aging process and that a measure is required by the maintenance personnel. This measure can consist in a cleaning of the front panel or in a repair of mechanical elements or the replacement of a defective LED.
When determining the expected value, it may be expedient to take into account not only the time since the start of the neon sign but also the (pure) turn-on times of the neon sign, which of course can generally be considerably shorter.
