The invention provides a mobile terminal, which comprises a user identity identification module for providing operator information for realizing a communication function, an operator information storage module for storing the operator information in the user identity identification module and the operator information supported by the mobile terminal, a service cell search information processing module for reading the operator information of the user identity identification module and the operator information supported by the mobile terminal, and a service cell search execution module for completing frequency point scanning according to a frequency point scanning requirement and acquiring the frequency point information of a current service cell. The invention also provides a method for the mobile terminal to reside in the service cell. Compared with the related art, the mobile terminal and the method for residing in the service cell can enable the mobile terminal to rapidly reside in the current service cell.

Background
With the development of mobile communication technology, mobile networks have a trend of multi-system multi-band parallel development.
