Description

P/00/001 AUSTRALIA Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION Invention Title: Content Transformation Based Job Board & Job Search Engine The invention is described in the following statement, including the best method of performing it known to us: -2 Content Transformation Based Job Board & Job Search Engine Background 1. A user searching for jobs online using current job boards and job search engines, 5 will reach a job search result web page, which usually contains multiple job ad search results or job ad headers that are organized in a relevant sequential or chronological view order ("Job Ad Search Results", or "Job Ad Search Result"). A typical online job board or job search engine include between 10-50 Job Ad Search Results in each search results web page, depending on the size of the Job 10 Ad Search Result and the size of search results web page. The limited space in a search result web page, which contains the Job Ad Search Results, and the need to allocate this space area across multiple Job Ad Search Results, dictate that each Job Ad Search Result is limited in size and, thus, can contain relatively small amount of information in relation to the offered job, the advertiser's profile or other 15 relevant information. This invention has been specifically designed to extend the amount of information that job advertisers can present in the limited space area of a Job Ad Search Result, which is displayed in a job search results web page, by utilizing the same 20 space in a more efficient manner; via transformation of content in the user interface area of the relevant Job Ad Search Result, without the need to navigate away from the search results web page. 25 Description of Invention 2. The improved online job board and/or job search engine in accordance with this invention is a system for receiving, aggregating, re-organising, classifying, storing, searching, and displaying in a web interface electronic data ("System"), comprised of: 30 2.1 Data Input Engine ("DIE"), which obtains electronic job data from multiple sources; said DIE communicates with a database; 2.2 Web User Interface software platform ("JOBUI"), which includes, inter alia, a 35 content transformation feature; said content transformation feature is a functionality and graphic user interface that enable transformation of initial textual or graphical information ("Initial Content"), which is displayed anywhere within the user interface area of any single Job Ad Search Result or any part thereof ("JASR Area") and which is part of a job search results web 40 page, into secondary textual or graphical information or into a new set of graphical or textual functionalities and features that replace all or part of said Initial Content ("Secondary Content") in said JASR Area ("Content Transformation Feature"); said JOBUI communicates with a database; and 45 2.3 Database ("DB") which contains, inter alia, fields and/or tables for job categories and job-subcategories, including tables and/or fields in respect of information that is relevant for said Content Transformation Feature; said DB communicates with and obtains information from said DIE and/or said JOBUI. 50 3. Preferably, said System further comprises of a Search Engine Software Component ("SEG"), which contains software component/s to accommodate with the logic or -3 functionalities of said Content Transformation Feature; said SEG communicates with said DB and/or said JOBUI. 4. In a further particular preferred form of said system/s, said DIE is a data seeking & 5 extraction engine, which extracts or aggregates electronic data from multiple web sources. 5. In a further particular preferred form of said system/s, said DIE is a data receiving engine which, receives or aggregates data from job sources. 10 6. A method for displaying a content in a web user interface of an online job board or job search engine; said method providing a functionality and graphic user interface that enable transformation of initial textual or graphical information ("Initial Content"), which is displayed anywhere within the specific user interface area of 15 any single Job Ad Search Result or any part thereof ("JASR Area") and which is part of a job search results web page, into secondary textual or graphical information or into a new set of graphical or textual functionalities and features that replace all or part of said Initial Content ("Secondary Content") in said JASR Area ("Content Transformation Feature"). 20 7. Preferably, the Content Transformation Feature is functional within the JASR Area. 8. Preferably, the Content Transformation Feature is user-activated by selecting or mouse clicking on a designated textual or graphical item or area, which is located 25 within, or in proximity to, the JASR Area. 9. Preferably, the Secondary Content and the Initial Content can be presented in the same web page or URL (Uniform Resource Locater), without a need to navigate away from the specific web page in which the JASR Area is displayed. 30 10. Preferably, the transformation between the Initial Content and the Secondary Content (or vice versa) is utilized, caused or supported by a Rich Internet Application ("RIA") software tool, such as Microsoft Silverlight, Adobe Flash, HTML 5, or any other RIA. 35 11. Preferably, the functionality of the Initial Content is utilized, caused or supported by a RIA software tool, such as Microsoft Silverlight, Adobe Flash, HTML 5, or any other RIA. 40 12. Preferably, the functionality of the Secondary Content is utilized, caused or supported by a RIA software tool, such as Microsoft Silverlight, Adobe Flash, HTML 5, or any other RIA. 13. Preferably, the Initial Content and/or the Secondary Content contain information 45 from one source or contain information which is related to the same advertiser. 14. In a particular preferred form of the invention, the Initial Content contains information which is relevant to a specific job posting and the Secondary Content contains information about the advertiser or the advertiser's business profile. 50 15. In a particular preferred form of the invention, the transformation from the Initial Content to the Secondary Content is shown to the user via a visual 3D transformation or 3D animation of spinning the JASR user interface area, or any part thereof, by 180 or 360 degrees; whereby the Initial Content is presented in the -4 default position and the Secondary Information is presented on the 'flipped side' of the JASR user interface area. 16. In a particular preferred form of the invention, the Initial Content and/or the 5 Secondary Content contain video content (displayed by a video or multimedia player), audio content or any other multimedia content. 17. In a particular preferred form of the invention, the Initial Content and/or the Secondary Content contain at least one user interactive feature or functionality. 10 Description of Drawings and Screen Shots 18.
