Abstract

A ballast for at least one pair of gas discharge lamps in parallel has a rectifier (G) to be connected to the a.c. mains and a converter (WR) connected downstream thereof. A series resonant circuit (LR, CR) is connected to the output of the converter. To the pair of lamps (L1, L2) is allocated a balancing transformer (TS1) having two counteraction windings (WS1, WS2). The two windings are interconnected at one end. The connection point is connected to that of the choke (LR) and of the resonant capacitor (CR) of the series resonant circuit. The other end of the two windings are connected to one electrode of the two lamps (L1, L2).
