Abstract

1. An arrangement of surface-providing material comprising a plurality of pompons (3), each pompon being constituted by a plurality of strands, wires, filaments or strips (1) joined at their middle, the junction points of the strands, wires, filaments, or strips of each pompon being kept constant relative to each other by a means of a support, characterized by the fact that each of the strands, wires, filaments, or strips has a length such that it is mounted in such a way that when it is plunged in a fluid (4) liquid or gaseous medium, each of them is independent in its movements and it can be deployed freely and easily without the said strands, wires, filaments, or strips entangling within the same pompon, two of the said junction points of neighbouring pompons being mounted in a manner such that when the pompons are plunged in the fluid medium the strands, wires, filaments, or strips of the said neighbouring pompons can not entangle.
