Field of the invention: h — DE
The invention relates to a portable wicket kit assembly for the game of cricket. More particularly it relates to the assembly of stumps and it’s supporting means for holding the stump straight in a vertical upright position. The assembly is made of any plastic or any polymer material wherein the stumps are hollow in nature and have novel configuration and so is the base. ~ Back ground of the invention:
The game of cricket is very popular over the world. A pair of wickets is used respectively at each end of the pitch in the game of cricket. Each of the wickets may comprise 3 "stumps at either end of the pitch or one wicket at one end and other three at the further end of the pitch. The stumps are around 28 inches elongated cylindrical in shape. The ~ Stumps are attached to the grounds with a pair of loose bails provided at upper ends of the stumps in such a fashion that a small vibration of the stump may dislodge the bails from its position. At the lower end of a stump, it is made with pointed conical end which is helpful to hammering the stump into the ground and maintains the stump straight upright.
] MPB/ENK/PATENT/CON/2008 1422/DEL/2008
A cricket popular game, is played on a big play ground. But in urban areas, playgrounds can not be easily accessible in and around the habitat locality. The people in urban areas play cricket in the —— or indoor and for general practice, for recreation, it is evident that people would like to avail the facility of playing cricket as an indoor game. : :
For indoor playing, practice at hard surface like street : path etc, wickets having a pointed end for being driven into the ground, can not be used due to the hard ground or concrete surface. The invention thus resides in having a compact wicket assembly for indoor cricket or to play at small places. In short it is a portable compact wicket assembly which can be used anywhere on surface or ground.
PRIOR ART
Patent application No. W0/2002/047773 teaches apparatus for use in playing the game of cricket. A cricket stump comprises an elongated cylindrical member. It has a conical or frusto-conical recess in its lower end. The stump is placed on a holding member in the form of a spike of corresponding shape. If struck by a cricket ball the

Detailed description of the invention:
According to the invention as shown in fig 1, a wicket assembly for the game of cricket consists of a base assembly and stump or stumps.
) MPB/ENK/PATENT/CON/2008 1422/DEL/2008
Base assembly of the wicket assembly for the game of cricket consists at least one or more than one unidirectional quadrant (1). All quadrants are engaged to each other unidirectionally and formed a single base assembly (21) with the help of interlocking means as shown in fig.6.
A tapered conical cavity (2) is provided around the center of each quadrant (1) for holding a stump (3) vertical : straight. A groove (17) as shown in fig 2 is provided at the top end of the tapered conical cavity (2) of the quadrant (1) to provide a locking means between quadrant (1) and stump (2). The quadrant (1) is hollow in shape having a plurality of supporting ribs (20) provided within the hollow cavity (2) to give a uniform even support and strength to the quadrant (1) and simultaneously providing the strength to the tapered conical cavity (2) of the quadrant (1).
According to the present invention as shown in fig 3 and 4, the stump (3) is a cylindrical hollow pipe. The stump (3) is made of hard plastic or any other polymer.
’ MPB/ENK/PATENT/CON/2008 1422/DEL/2008
The lower and upper end of the stump. (3) are detachable.
Upper end of the stump (3) is a round shaped hollow cylindrical cap (10) with a notch (15) provided at the upper end of the cap (10). A plurality of the vertical protrusions (13) is provided at the outer surface of the cylindrical lower end (14) of the cap (10).
Middle part of the stump (3) is a cylindrical hollow pipe (4), attached with cap (10) and V shaped conical artifact (8) respectively at the upper end (11) and the lower end (9) of the hollow pipe (4). ‘The shape and size of the v shaped artifact (8) of the stump (3) is very specific and inconformity with the tapered conical cavity (2) of the quadrant (1). ‘A plurality of vertical shaped protrusions (12) are provided at the outer surface end of the cylindrical hollow cap (6) provided at the top end of the v shaped artifact (8) as a means for locking between stump(3) and V-shaped artifact (8). A protrusion (5) 1s provided between the cylindrical cap (6) and V shaped conical configuration (9) of the artifact (8) as a means for locking arrangement
MPB/ENK/PATENT/CON/2008 1422/DEL/2008 between the tapered conical cavity (2) of the quadrant (1) and stump (1).
The lower end (7) of the V shaped conical artifact (8) is straight tubular structure with a rounded tip to provide more strength and support to the stump when locked.
According to the present invention two locking arrangements are provided. 1. Locking arrangement between stump and quadrant and 2. interlocking arrangement between the quadrants.
The locking arrangement between stump and quadrant is a press fitted type locking arrangement.
As shown in fig 1 and 4, the locking arrangement consists a plurality of vertical shaped protrusions (12) provided at the outer surface end of the cylindrical hollow cap (6) provided at the top end of the V shaped artifact (8) and a protrusion (5) provided between the cylindrical cap (6) and
V shaped conical configuration (9) to enable the stumps to be locked by means of V shaped artifact (8). )
) MPB/ENK/PATENT/CON/2008 1422/DEL/2008
According to fig (1), The V shaped conical artifact (8) of the stump is put inside the cavity (2) of the corresponding quadrant (1) and an external force is applied to the stump (3) from the top making the sald stump (3) to get locked inside the conical cavity (2). The stump (3) when locked, the stump (3) with the V shaped conical artifact (8) and the quadrant (1) is a one piece configuration detachable by © means of an external force.
As shown in fig (1) the bottom end of the V shaped artifact (7) protrudes the V shaped conical cavity (2) of the quadrant (1) to enable the artifact (7) to be locked in the tapered V shaped cavity (2) on applying an external force, wherein the bottom end of the cavity (2) is tapered having the centrifugal force applied from different side by means of spikes provided evenly.
As shown in fig (6), the quadrants are connected unidirectionally to each other by interlocking means. The interlocking means comprises at its one edge a protrusion (18) and at the other corresponding edge (19) of the other corresponding quadrant cavity (2) inconformity with the protrusion (18) to rigidly engage the said two quadrants
Prd bn r ) MPB/ENK/PATENT/CON/2008 1422/DEL/2008 together to make it a rigid one piece. The quadrant thus : forms a single piece that can be separated if a force or movement is carried out in the opposite direction.
While particular embodiments of the present invention have been illustrated and described, it would be obvious to : - those skilled in art that various other changes and modifications can be made without departing from the sprit and scope of the invention. It is therefore intended to cover in the appended claims all such changes and modifications that are with in the scope of this invention.
