Abstract

Invention belongs to the field of nuclear medical science, and relates to the construction of new SK detector for new system of general purpose scintillation camera (SKON) due to further improvement of performances for planar - SPECT and PET examination. Novelties, in comparison to the solution from our granted US patent, are that SKON detector has the following advantages: - it uses recently invented scintillation crystal LaBr3(Ce3+) that has improved characteristics from the previously used Nal(TI); - crystal is also made of layers so as to determine DOI, but the layers are of unequal thickness and due to this property thereof they equal efficiency for absorbtion of PET gama photons; - DOI information is taken out only from the upper layer of the crystals, hereby along with damaged construction, it is enabled that the bottom of the bottom layer of crystal is diffusely reflective; - light guide and optical bond have refractory indices similar to the ones in crystal: thus they spread spatial angle by light photones toward the photo-multiplicators and toward the diffusely reflective surface on the bottom. The mentioned novelties, according to the theoretical considerations and calculations improve energy and therewith spatial resolutions of the picture into the planar - SPECT and PET examinations.
