Abstract

Description

이차 전지
본 개시는 이차 전지에 관한 것이다.
이차 전지는 전기 에너지를 화학 에너지의 형태로 바꾸어 저장할 수 있는 우수한 에너지 밀도를 제공하는 전력 저장 시스템이다. 재충전이 불가능한 일차 전지에 비해 이차 전지는 재충전이 가능하여 스마트폰, 셀룰러폰, 노트북, 타블렛 PC 등 IT 기기에 많이 사용되고 있다. 최근에는 환경 오염 방지를 위해 전기 자동차에 대한 관심이 높아졌고, 이에 따라 전기 자동차에 고용량의 이차 전지가 채택되고 있다. 이러한 이차 전지는 고밀도, 고출력, 안정성 등의 특성이 요구되고 있다.
이러한 발명의 배경이 되는 기술에 개시된 상술한 정보는 본 발명의 배경에 대한 이해도를 향상시키기 위한 것뿐이며, 따라서 종래 기술을 구성하지 않는 정보를 포함할 수도 있다.
본 발명은 전극 조립체의 상면과 하면이 표면 거칠기를 가지므로, 집전판에서 상기 전극 조립체의 상면과 하면과 접촉되는 면에 표면 거칠기를 높인 돌기부가 구비되어, 접촉력을 향상시킴으로써 접촉 저항을 감소시킬 수 있다.
다만, 본 발명이 해결하고자 하는 기술적 과제는 상술한 과제에 제한되지 않으며, 언급되지 않은 또 다른 과제들은 아래에 기재된 발명의 설명으로부터 당업자에게 명확하게 이해될 수 있다.
상기 기술적 과제를 해결하기 위한 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 이차 전지는 제1전극판, 세퍼레이터 및 제2전극판을 갖는 전극 조립체와, 상기 전극 조립체가 수용된 케이스와, 상기 케이스를 관통하는 단자 및, 상기 전극 조립체의 상면과 상기 케이스 사이에 개재되며, 상기 제1전극판과 상기 단자 사이를 전기적으로 연결하는 제1집전판을 포함하며, 상기 제1집전판은 상기 전극 조립체의 상면과 접촉되는 하면과 상기 하면의 반대인 상면을 포함하고, 상기 제1집전판의 상기 하면은 상기 전극 조립체의 방향으로 돌출된 돌기부를 구비하고, 상기 돌기부의 표면 거칠기가 상기 제1집전판의 상기 상면의 표면 거칠기에 비해서 더 클 수 있다.
상기 제1집전판은 원형 판 형상으로 상기 단자의 하면에 접촉 및 전기적으로 접속된 단자 접속부 및, 상기 전극 조립체의 상면으로 노출된 제1전극 탭과 접촉 및 전기적으로 접속되며, 상기 단자 접속부의 외측에 위치하는 극판 접속부를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 극판 접속부는 직경방향으로 연장되며, 상기 전극 조립체의 상면에 용접되는 용접영역과, 상기 용접 영역 이외의 영역에 상기 돌기부가 구비되며, 상기 돌기부는 상기 극판 접속부의 직경 방향으로 적어도 2개 이상 구비될 수 있다.
상기 극판 접속부의 상면은 평평한 평면일 수 있다.
상기 극판 접속부의 상면은 상기 돌기부와 대응되는 오목부가 구비될 수 있다.
상기 극판 접속부의 하면은 거칠기 처리되어, 표면 거칠기가 상기 극판 접속부의 상면에 비해서 더 클 수 있다.
상기 돌기부는 상기 전극 조립체의 권취 선단 영역과 접촉되는 권취 선단 돌기부의 높이와 상기 전극 조립체의 권취 종단과 접촉되는 권취 종단 돌기부의 높이가 그 이외의 영역인 중간영역에 위치하는 중간 영역 돌기부의 높이와 같거나, 더 낮을 수 있다.
상기 제1전극판은 상기 전극 조립체의 상면으로부터 상부 방향으로 돌출되고, 상기 전극 조립체의 권취축 방향으로 절곡 및 다져진 다수의 제1전극탭을 더 포함하고,
상기 제2전극판은 상기 전극 조립체의 하면으로부터 하부 방향으로 돌출되고, 상기 전극 조립체의 권취축 방향으로 절곡 및 다져진 다수의 제2전극탭을 더 포함할 수 있다.
상기 전극 조립체는 상기 제1전극탭이 절곡되어 다짐된 높이인 누적 두께가 권취 선단과 권취 종단에 비해서 중심 영역이 더 높을 수 있다.
상기 전극 조립체의 하면과 대응되는 원형 판 형상으로, 상기 전극 조립체의 하면으로 노출된 상기 제2전극탭과 접촉 및 전기적으로 접속된 제2집전판을 더 포함할 수 있다.
상기 제2집전판은 상기 전극 조립체의 하면에 접촉된 원형의 평면부; 및
상기 평면부의 가장자리로부터 하부 방향으로 연장되어 상기 케이스에 접촉된 연장부를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 평면부는 상기 제2집전판의 상면에 상기 전극 조립체의 하면 방향으로 돌출된 다수의 돌기부를 포함하며, 상기 돌기부의 표면 거칠기는 상기 제2집전판의 하면의 표면 거칠기에 비해 더 클 수 있다.
상기 제2집전판의 상면의 표면 거칠기가 상기 제2집전판의 하면의 표면 거칠기에 비해서 더 클 수 있다.
상기 케이스는 상측부; 및 상기 상측부의 가장자리로부터 하부 방향으로 연장된 몸통부를 포함하며, 상기 단자는 상기 케이스의 상기 상측부를 관통하여, 상기 제1집전판과 결합될 수 있다.
상기 케이스는 상기 몸통부의 하측단을 밀봉하는 캡 플레이트를 더 포함할 수 있다.
상기 케이스는 하측부; 및 상기 하측부의 가장자리로부터 상부 방향으로 연장된 몸통부를 포함하고, 상기 몸통부의 상측단을 밀봉하는 캡 플레이트를 더 포함할 수 있다.
상기 단자는 상기 캡 플레이트를 관통하여 상기 제1집전판과 결합될 수 있다.
상기 전극 조립체는 하면의 표면 거칠기가 상면의 표면 거칠기에 비해서 더 클 수 있다.
상기 다수의 제1전극 탭은 상기 제1전극판에서 전극 활물질이 도포되지 않은 제1무지부로, 권취 방향을 따라 서로 이격되도록 다수개가 배치될 수 있다.
상기 다수의 제1전극 탭은 상기 제1전극판에서 권취 선단과 권취 종단에는 구비되지 않을 수 있다.
본 발명에 따르면, 전극 조립체의 상면과 하면이 표면 거칠기를 가지므로, 집전판에서 상기 전극 조립체의 상면과 하면과 접촉되는 면에 표면 거칠기를 높인 돌기부가 구비되어, 접촉력을 향상시킴으로써 접촉 저항을 감소시킬 수 있는 이차 전지를 제공할 수 있다.
다만, 본 발명을 통해 얻을 수 있는 효과는 상술한 효과들에 제한되지 않으며, 언급되지 않은 또 다른 기술적인 효과들은 아래에 기재된 발명의 설명으로부터 당업자에게 명확하게 이해될 수 있을 것이다.
본 명세서에 첨부되는 다음의 도면들은 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예를 예시하는 것이며, 후술되는 발명의 상세한 설명과 함께 본 발명의 기술사상을 더욱 이해시키는 역할을 하는 것이므로, 본 발명은 그러한 도면에 기재된 사항에만 한정되어 해석되어서는 아니된다.

도 1 및 도 2에 도시된 바와 같이 본 발명에 따른 이차 전지(100)는 전극 조립체(110)와, 전극 조립체(110)와 전해액(옵션)을 내부에 수용하는 케이스(120)와, 케이스(120)의 일측 단, 예를 들어 상측 단에 구비된 단자홀(122a)에 결합된 단자(150)를 포함할 수 있다. 또한 이차 전지(100)는 케이스(110)의 타측 단, 예를 들어 하측 단을 밀봉하는 캡 플레이트(160)를 포함할 수 있다. 여기서 캡플레이트(160)는 케이스(120)와 결합하여 전극 조립체(110)를 내부에 수용하므로, 케이스(120)의 일부 구성으로 볼 수 있다.
이차 전지(100)는 전극 조립체(110)의 제1전극(111)과 단자(150)사이를 전기적으로 연결하는 제1집전판(130)과 전극 조립체(110)의 제2전극(112)과 케이스(120) 사이를 전기적으로 연결하는 제2집전판(140)을 더 포함할 수 있다.
전극 조립체(110)는 세퍼레이터(113)와, 세퍼레이터(113)를 사이에 두고 위치하는 제1전극판(111)과 제2전극판(112)을 포함할 수 있으며, 젤리-롤(jelly-roll) 형태로 권취될 수 있다.
제1전극판(111)은 제1기재와, 제1기재에 위치하는 제1활물질층을 포함할수 있다. 제1기재 중 제1활물질층이 위치하지 않는 제1전극 무지부(111a)에서 제1전극 탭(111b)이 외측으로 연장될 수 있으며, 제1전극 탭(111b)은 제1집전판(130)을 통해 단자(150)와 전기적으로 연결될 수 있다. 제2전극판(112)은 제2기재와, 제2기재에 위치하는 제2활물질층을 포함할 수 있다. 제2기재 중 제2활물질층이 위치하지 않는 제2전극 무지부(112a)에서 제2전극 탭(112b)이 외측으로 연장될 수 있으며, 제2전극 탭(112b)은 제2집전판(140)을 통해 케이스(120)에 전기적으로 연결될 수 있다.
제1전극 탭(111b)과 제2전극 탭(112b)은 전극 조립체(110)에서 서로 반대 방향에 위치할 수 있다. 제1전극판(111)은 양극으로 기능할 수 있다. 이 경우 제1기재는 예를 들어 알루미늄 포일로 구성될 수 있고, 제1활물질층은 예를 들어 전이금속 산화물을 포함할 수 있다. 제2전극판(112)은 음극으로 기능할 수 있다. 이 경우 제2기재는 예를 들어 구리 포일 또는 니켈 포일로 구성될 수 있고, 제2활물질층은 예를 들어 흑연을 포함할 수 있다.
세퍼레이터(113)는 리튬 이온의 이동을 허용하면서 제1전극(111)과 제2전극(112)의 단락을 방지하는 기능을 한다. 세퍼레이터(113)는 예를 들어 폴리에틸렌 필름, 폴리프로필렌 필름, 폴리에틸렌-폴리프로필렌 필름 등으로 구성될 수 있다.
일부 예들에서, 양극 활물질로는 리튬의 가역적인 인터칼레이션 및 디인터칼레이션이 가능한 화합물(리티에이티드 인터칼레이션 화합물)을 사용할 수 있다. 구체적으로는 코발트, 망간, 니켈, 및 이들의 조합에서 선택되는 금속과 리튬과의 복합 산화물 중 1종 이상의 것을 사용할 수 있다.
상기 복합 산화물은 리튬 전이금속 복합 산화물일 수 있으며, 구체적인 예로는 리튬 니켈계 산화물, 리튬 코발트계 산화물, 리튬 망간계 산화물, 리튬인산철계 화합물, 코발트-프리 니켈-망간계 산화물, 또는 이들의 조합을 들 수 있다.
일 예로는 하기 화학식 중 어느 하나로 표현되는 화합물을 사용할 수 있다. 상기 화학식에 있어서, A는 Ni, Co, Mn, 또는 이들의 조합이고; X는 Al, Ni, Co, Mn, Cr, Fe, Mg, Sr, V, 희토류 원소 또는 이들의 조합이고; D는 O, F, S, P, 또는 이들의 조합이고; G는 Al, Cr, Mn, Fe, Mg, La, Ce, Sr, V, 또는 이들의 조합이고; L1은 Mn, Al 또는 이들의 조합이다.
리튬 이차 전지용 양극은 전류 집전체(예를 들면, 제1기재) 및 이 전류 집전체 상에 형성되는 양극 활물질층을 포함할 수 있다. 상기 양극 활물질층은 양극 활물질을 포함하고, 바인더 및/또는 도전재를 더 포함할 수 있다.
상기 양극 활물질의 함량은 양극 활물질층 100 중량%에 대하여 90 중량% 내지 99.5 중량%이고, 상기 바인더 및 도전재의 함량은 양극 활물질층 100 중량%에 대하여 각각 0.5 중량% 내지 5 중량%일 수 있다.
상기 전류 집전체로는 알루미늄을 사용할 수 있으나 이에 한정되는 것은 아니다.
음극 활물질은 리튬 이온을 가역적으로 인터칼레이션/디인터칼레이션할 수 있는 물질, 리튬 금속, 리튬 금속의 합금, 리튬에 도프 및 탈도프 가능한 물질 또는 전이 금속 산화물을 포함한다.
상기 리튬 이온을 가역적으로 인터칼레이션/디인터칼레이션할 수 있는 물질로는 탄소계 음극 활물질로, 예를 들어 결정질 탄소, 비정질 탄소 또는 이들의 조합을 포함할 수 있다. 상기 결정질 탄소의 예로는 천연 흑연 또는 인조 흑연과 같은 흑연을 들 수 있고, 상기 비정질 탄소의 예로는 소프트 카본 또는 하드 카본, 메조페이스 피치 탄화물, 소성된 코크스 등을 들 수 있다.
상기 리튬에 도프 및 탈도프 가능한 물질로는 Si계 음극 활물질 또는 Sn계 음극 활물질을 사용할 수 있다. 상기 Si계 음극 활물질은 실리콘, 실리콘-탄소 복합체, SiOx(0 < x < 2), Si계 합금 또는 이들의 조합일 수 있다.
상기 실리콘-탄소 복합체는 실리콘과 비정질 탄소의 복합체일 수 있다. 일 구현예에 따르면, 상기 실리콘-탄소 복합체는 실리콘 입자 및 상기 실리콘 입자의 표면에 비정질 탄소가 코팅된 형태일 수 있다.
상기 실리콘-탄소 복합체는 결정질 탄소를 더욱 포함할 수도 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 실리콘-탄소 복합체는 결정질 탄소 및 실리콘 입자를 포함하는 코어 및 이 코어 표면에 위치하는 비정질 탄소 코팅층을 포함할 수 있다.
리튬 이차 전지용 음극은 전류 집전체(예를 들면, 제2기재) 및 이 전류 집전체 상에 형성되는 음극 활물질층을 포함할 수 있다. 상기 음극 활물질층은 음극 활물질을 포함하고, 바인더 및/또는 도전재를 더 포함할 수 있다.
예를 들어 음극 활물질층은 음극 활물질을 90 중량% 내지 99 중량%, 바인더를 0.5 중량% 내지 5 중량%, 도전재를 0 중량% 내지 5 중량%로 포함할 수 있다.
상기 바인더로는 비수계 바인더, 수계 바인더, 건식 바인더 또는 이들의 조합을 사용할 수 있다. 상기 음극 바인더로 수계 바인더를 사용하는 경우, 점성을 부여할 수 있는 셀룰로즈 계열 화합물을 더욱 포함할 수 있다.
상기 전류 집전체로는 구리 박, 니켈 박, 스테인레스강 박, 티타늄 박, 니켈 발포체(foam), 구리 발포체, 전도성 금속이 코팅된 폴리머 기재, 및 이들의 조합에서 선택되는 것을 사용할 수 있다.
리튬 이차 전지용 전해액은 비수성 유기용매 및 리튬염을 포함할 수 있다.
상기 비수성 유기용매는 전지의 전기화학적 반응에 관여하는 이온들이 이동할 수 있는 매질 역할을 한다.
상기 비수성 유기용매는 카보네이트계, 에스터계, 에터계, 케톤계, 또는 알코올계 용매, 비양자성 용매 또는 이들의 조합일 수 있으며, 단독으로 또는 2종 이상 혼합하여 사용할 수 있다.
또한, 카보네이트계 용매를 사용하는 경우, 환형 카보네이트와 사슬형 카보네이트를 혼합하여 사용할 수 있다.
상술한 바와 같이 리튬 이차 전지는 양극과 음극 사이에 세퍼레이터가 존재할 수도 있다. 이러한 세퍼레이터로는 폴리에틸렌, 폴리프로필렌, 폴리비닐리덴 플루오라이드 또는 이들의 2층 이상의 다층막이 사용될 수 있다.
상기 세퍼레이터는 다공성 기재, 그리고 다공성 기재의 일면 또는 양면에 위치하는 유기물, 무기물 또는 이들의 조합을 포함하는 코팅층을 포함할 수 있다.
상기 유기물은 폴리비닐리덴플루오라이드계 중항체 또는 (메타)아크릴계 중합체를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 무기물은 Al2O3, SiO2, TiO2, SnO2, CeO2, MgO, NiO, CaO, GaO, ZnO, ZrO2, Y2O3, SrTiO3, BaTiO3, Mg(OH)2, 보헤마이트(boehmite) 및 이들의 조합에서 선택되는 무기 입자를 포함할 수 있으나, 이에 한정되는 것은 아니다.
상기 유기물과 무기물은 하나의 코팅층에 혼합되어 존재하거나 유기물을 포함하는 코팅층과 무기물을 포함하는 코팅층이 적층된 형태로 존재할 수 있다.
케이스(120)는 전극 조립체(110)와 전해액을 수용하며, 단자(150) 및 캡 플레이트(160)와 함께 이차 전지(100)의 외형을 구성할 수 있다. 케이스(120)는 대략적인 원통 모양의 몸통부(121)와, 몸통부(121)의 일측에 연결된 상측부(122)를 포함할 수 있다. 즉 몸통부(121)는 상측부(122)의 가장자리로부터 하부 방향으로 연장될 수 있다. 몸통부(121)에는 내측을 향해 변형된 비딩부(123)가 위치할 수 있고, 몸통부(121)의 개구측 단부에는 내측을 향해 절곡된 크림핑부(124)가 위치할 수 있다. 상측부(122)에는 중심을 관통하는 단자홀(122a)이 구비될 수 있다. 상측부(122)는 단자 홀(122a)에 단자(150)가 삽입되어 결합될 수 있다. 단자 홀(122a)과 단자(150) 사이에는 밀봉 및 전기적 절연을 위한 단자 가스켓(125)이 더 개재될 수 있다.
비딩부(123)는 케이스(120)의 내부에서 전극 조립체(110)가 움직이는 것을 억제할 수 있으며, 캡 가스켓(127)과 캡 플레이트(160)의 안착을 용이하게 할 수 있다. 크림핑부(124)는 캡 가스켓(127)을 통해 캡 플레이트(160)의 가장자리를 가압하여 캡 플레이트(160)를 견고하게 고정시킬 수 있다. 케이스(123)는 예를 들어 니켈로 도금된 철, 알루미늄, 알루미늄 합금 또는 스테인리스 스틸로 구성될 수 있다.
제1집전판(130)은 일면(예를 들면, 하면)이 전극 조립체(110)의 제1전극 탭(111b)과 접촉 및 결합되고, 일면의 반대인 타면(예를 들면, 상면)이 단자(150)에 접촉 및 결합될 수 있다. 제1집전판(130)은 전극 조립체(110)의 제1전극 탭(111b)에 용접되어, 전기적으로 접속될 수 있다. 제1집전판(130)은 타면이 단자(150)에 접촉된 상태에서, 용접되어 전기적으로 접속될 수 있다. 제1집접판(130)은 일면에 전극 조립체(110)의 방향으로 돌출된 돌기부(139)를 더 포함할 수 있다.
제2집전판(140)은 대체로 중심부(141)가 전극 조립체(110)의 제2전극 탭(112b)과 접촉 및 결합되고, 가장자리부(142)가 케이스(120)의 몸통부(121)에 접촉 및 결합될 수 있다. 제2집전판(140)은 중심부(141)가 전극 조립체(110)의 제2전극 탭(112b)에 용접되어, 전기적으로 접속될 수 있다. 제2집전판(140)은 가장자리부(142)가 케이스(120)의 비딩부(123)에 접촉된 상태에서 용접되어 전기적으로 접속될 수 있다. 제2집전판(140)은 중심부(141)에 전극 조립체(110)의 방향으로 돌출된 돌기부(149)를 더 포함할 수 있다.
단자(150)는 케이스(120)의 외측에 위치하는 헤드(151), 헤드(151)의 중심부로부터 케이스(120)의 내측 방향으로 연장된 체결부(152)를 포함할 수 있다. 단자(150)는 체결부(152)가 단자 가스켓(125)과 함께 단자 홀(122a)에 결합되어, 단자 가스켓(125)을 통해 케이스(120)의 상측부(122)를 내측에서 가압하여 고정 및 밀봉시킬 수 있다. 단자(150)는 헤드(151)의 중심으로부터 체결부(152)의 방향으로 단자 홈(153)이 더 구비될 수 있다. 단자(150)는 단자 홈(153)을 통해 제1집전판(130)과 외부에서 용접될 수 있다. 단자(150)는 제1집전판(130)을 통해 전극 조립체(110)의 제1전극(111)과 전기적으로 연결될 수 있다. 단자(150)와 케이스(120)는 서로 다른 극성을 가질 수 있다.
캡 플레이트(160)는 캡 가스켓(127)을 통해 크림핑부(124)의 내측에 고정되어 케이스(120)를 밀봉시킬 수 있다. 캡 플레이트(160)는 노치에 의해 다른 영역에 비해서 두께가 더 얇은 안전 벤트(165)를 포함할 수 있다. 이차 전지(100)의 과충전 또는 이상 작동 등에 의해 가스가 발생하는 경우, 캡플레이트(160)에 구비된 안전 벤트(165)는 노치를 따라 절개될 수 있다. 절개된 안전 벤트(165)는 가스를 외부로 방출하여 이차 전지(100)의 폭발을 방지할 수 있다.
도 3은 도 1의 이차 전지에서 전극 조립체를 도시한 사시도이고, 도 4는 도 3의 전극 조립체의 단면도이다. 도 3 및 도 4에서 전극 조립체(110)는 상단으로 돌출된 제1전극 탭(111b)과 하단으로 돌출된 제2전극 탭(112b)이 절곡되기 이전을 도시한 것이다.
또한 도 5는 도 3에 도시된 전극 조립체(110)에서 제1전극 탭(111b)과 제2전극 탭(112b)이 권심을 향해 절곡된 후를 도시한 사시도이다. 또한 도 5는 도 1의 이차 전지에서 전극 조립체(110)와 제1집전판(130) 및 제2집전판(140)이 분해된 분해 사시도이고, 도 6은 도 5의 단면도이다.
이하에서는 도 3 내지 도 6을 참조하여, 전극 조립체(110), 제1집전판(130)과 제2집전판(140)의 구조 및 관계를 설명하고자 한다.
제1전극판(111)은 상단부에 제1전극 활물질이 코팅되지 않은 제1전극 무지부(111a)가 구비될 수 있다. 이와같은 제1전극 무지부(111a)는 전극 조립체(110)의 상부 방향으로 돌출될 수 있다. 또한 제1전극 무지부(111a)는 다수의 제1전극탭(111b)을 포함할 수 있다. 다수의 제1전극탭(111b)은 제1전극 무지부(111a)의 상단부에 위치할 수 있으며, 권취 이전에 일방향으로 서로 이격되도록 배치될 수 있다. 이와같은 다수의 제1전극탭(111b)은 권취 선단 및/또는 권취 종단에 구비되지 않을 수 있다. 이와같은 다수의 제1전극탭(111b)은 제1전극 무지부(111a) 상에 레이저 노칭, 초음파 커팅 또는 타발 등에 의해서 형성될 수 있다. 상기 제1전극탭(111b)은 전극 조립체(110)에서 제2전극판(112) 및 세퍼레이터(113)에 비해서 상부 방향으로 더 돌출될 수 있다.
제2전극판(112)은 하단부에 제2전극 활물질이 코팅되지 않은 제2전극 무지부(112a)가 구비될 수 있다. 또한 제2전극 무지부(112a)는 다수의 제2전극탭(112b)을 포함할 수 있다. 다수의 제2전극탭(112b)은 제2전극 무지부(112a)의 하단부에 위치할 수 있으며, 권취 이전에 일방향으로 서로 이격되도록 배치될 수 있다. 다수의 제2전극탭(112b)은 권취 선단 및/또는 권취 종단에 구비되지 않을 수 있다. 다수의 제2전극탭(112b)은 제2전극 무지부(112a)에 레이저 노칭, 초음파 커팅 또는 타발 등에 의해서 형성될 수 있다. 이와같은 다수의 제2전극탭(112b)은 전극 조립체(110)에서 제1전극판(111) 및 세퍼레이터(113)에 비해서 하부 방향으로 더 돌출될 수 있다.
전극 조립체(110)는 제1전극탭(111b)이 상부방향으로 돌출될 수 있으며, 제2전극탭(112b)이 하부 방향으로 돌출될 수 있다. 이와 같은 제1전극탭(111b)과 제2전극탭(112b)은 권심을 향해 절곡될 수 있다. 즉, 다수의 제1전극탭(111b)과 다수의 제2전극탭(112b)은 권취 선단 영역부터 권심을 향해 절곡 및 다져질 수 있다. 이때 제1전극탭(111b)과 제2전극탭(112b)이 전극 조립체(110)의 권심홀(예를 들면, 코어)을 덮지 않도록, 권취 선단의 일부 영역에는 구비되지 않을 수 있다. 전극 조립체(110)는 제1전극탭(111b)과 제2전극탭(112b)의 절곡 및 다짐에 의해서, 상면(110a)과 하면(110b) 각각에 탭들의 단차로 인한 표면 거칠기를 가질 수 있다.
전극 조립체(110)의 상면(110a)에 제1전극탭(111b)이 위치하고, 하면(110b)에 제2전극탭(112b)이 위치할 수 있다. 도 7은 전극 조립체(110)의 상면(110a)과 하면(110b)에서 임의로 선택된 4개의 영역을 표시하고 있다. 여기서 임의로 선택된 4개의 영역은 권심을 중심으로 서로 대칭되는 것으로 표시하였으나, 동일한 넓이를 갖는 영역이라면 어떤 영역이라도 선택가능 할 수 있다. 다만, 임의로 선택된 4개의 영역은 제1집전판(130) 및 제2집전판(140)에 접촉되는 영역으로 선택하는 것이 바람직하다. 또한 임의로 선택된 4개의 영역은 제1집전판(130) 및 제2집전판(140)과 용접되지 않는 영역일 수 있다.
또한 전극 조립체(110)의 상면(110a)의 제1영역(a1), 제2영역(a2), 제3영역(a3) 및 제4영역(a4)에서 측정된 최대 높이(Sz)와 평균 높이(Sa)와, 하면(110b)의 제1영역(b1), 제2영역(b2), 제3영역(b3), 제4영역(b4)에서 측정된 최대 높이(Sz)와 평균 높이(Sa)의 결과인 표면 거칠기 데이터는 아래의 표 1과 같을 수 있다. 여기서 최대 높이(Sz)는 각각의 영역의 면적내에서 최저점에서 최고점까지(피크)의 높이이고, 여기서 평균 높이(Sa)는 각각의 영역의 면적에서 평균 거칠기일 수 있다. 표면 거칠기는 접촉식 또는 비접촉식의 거칠기 측정 장비를 통해 측정될 수 있다.
여기서, 전극 조립체(110)의 상면(110a) 및 하면(110b)에 대한 표면 거칠기 데이터는 총 3개의 전극 조립체(110)에 대해서 측정하였으며, 표 1은 제1전극 조립체에 대한 실험 결과이고, 표2는 제2전극 조립체에 대한 실험 결과이며, 표3은 제3전극 조립체에 대한 실혐 결과이다. 여기서 제1전극 조립체, 제2전극 조립체 및 제3 전극 조립체는 동일한 공정을 통해 제조된 동일한 구조의 전극 조립체일 수 있다. 이하에서 단위는 ㎛일 수 있다.

표 1 내지 표 3에서 전극 조립체(110)의 상면(110a)에 대한 표면 거칠기 데이터를 참조하면, 각 영역별로 측정된 평균 높이(Sa)는 12㎛ 내지 36㎛일 수 있고, 최대 높이(Sz)는 123㎛ 내지 520㎛일 수 있다. 또한 전극 조립체(110)의 하면(110b)에 대한 표면 거칠기 데이터를 참조하면, 각 영역별로 측정된 평균 높이(Sa)는 18㎛ 내지 41㎛일 수 있고, 최대 높이(Sz)는 147㎛ 내지 236㎛일 수 있다. 표 1 내지 표 3의 전극 조립체(110)의 표면 거칠기 데이터를 참조하면, 전극 조립체(110)의 상면(110a) 및 하면(110b)은 제1전극탭(111b)과 제2전극탭(112b)의 절곡 및 다짐에 의해서 불균일한 단차로 인해 표면 거칠기를 가질 수 있다. 또한 전극 조립체(110)는 상면(110a)에 비해서 하면(110b)의 표면 거칠기가 더 클 수 있다. 이와같은 표면 거칠기를 갖는 전극 조립체(110)의 상면(110a)에 평평한 제1집전판(130)이 접촉될 경우, 거칠기의 차이로 인한 들뜸이 발생되어, 낮은 접촉 면적으로 인해 전기 저항이 증가될 수 있다. 이를 방지하기 위해서, 제1집전판(130)에서 전극 조립체(110)의 상면(110a)과 대향한 하면에 하부 방향으로 돌출된 돌기부(139)를 통해 접촉 면적을 증대시킬 수 있다. 돌기부(139)는 전극 조립체(100)의 상면(110a)에 위치하는 제1전극탭(111b)에 접촉 및 가압할 수 있다.
또한 표면 거칠기를 갖는 전극 조립체(110)의 하면(110b)에 평평한 제2집전판(140)이 접촉될 경우, 거칠기의 차이로 인한 들뜸이 발생되어, 낮은 접촉 면적으로 인해 전기 저항이 증가될 수 있다. 이를 방지하기 위해서, 제2집전판(140)에서 전극 조립체(110)의 하면(110b)과 대향한 상면(140a)에 상부 방향으로 돌출된 돌기부(149)를 통해 접촉 면적을 증대시킬 수 있다. 돌기부(149)는 전극 조립체(100)의 하면(110b)에 위치하는 제2전극탭(112b)에 접촉 및 가압할 수 있다.
도 8을 참조하면, 도 1에 도시된 이차 전지(100)의 제1집전판(130)의 저면도이다. 도 9는 도 8의 A-A'선을 절단한 단면도이다. 이하에서는 도 8 및 도 9를 참조하여, 제1집전판(130)을 설명하고자 한다.
우선 제1집전판(130)은 전극 조립체(110)의 상면(110a)과 대응되는 형상인, 원형 금속 판일 수 있다. 제1집전판(130)의 평면크기는 전극 조립체(110)의 상면(110a)의 크기와 같거나 더 작을 수 있다. 제1집전판(130)은 하면(130b)이 전극 조립체(110)의 상면(110a)에 접촉된 상태에서 용접에 의해, 전극 조립체(110)의 제1전극탭(111b)에 고정 및 전기적으로 접속될 수 있다. 제1집전판(130)은 상면(130a)이 단자(150)의 하면에 접촉된 상태에서, 용접에 의해, 단자(150)에 고정 및 전기적으로 접속될 수 있다. 제1집전판(130)은 전극 조립체(110)의 제1전극판(111)과 단자(150)사이의 전류 흐름의 통로가 된다.
제1집전판(130)은 단자 접속부(131), 극판 접속부(132) 및 퓨즈부(135)를 포함할 수 있다. 단자 접속부(131)는 제1집전판(130)의 중심에 위치하며, 대략 원형으로 형성될 수 있다. 단자 접속부(131)의 상면에는 단자(150)의 체결부(152)의 하면이 용접될 수 있다. 극판 접속부(132)는 단자 접속부(131)의 외측에 위치하며, 전극 조립체(110)의 제1전극탭(111b)에 접촉 및 전기적으로 연결될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 극판 접속부(132)의 하면에는 전극 조립체(110)의 상면(110a)으로 노출된 제1전극탭(111b)이 용접될 수 있다.
퓨즈부(135)는 단자 접속부(131)와 극판 접속부(132) 사이에 형성될 수 있다. 퓨즈부(135)는 퓨즈홀(136) 및 극판 연결부(137)를 포함할 수 있다. 퓨즈부(135)는 이차 전지(100)의 단락 또는 과전류 발생 시, 발생된 열에 의해 극판 연결부(137)를 용융 및 절단함으로써 이차 전지(100)에 흐르는 전류를 차단할 수 있다.
퓨즈홀(136)은 단자 접속부(131)의 외주연의 일부를 따라서 대략 'C'자 형태로 형성되어, 퓨즈홀(136)의 양단은 서로 마주할 수 있다. 퓨즈홀(136)은 단자 접속부(131)와 극판 접속부(132)를 분리시킬 수 있다. 즉, 단자 접속부(131)와 극판 접속부(132)는 퓨즈홀(136)에 의해 서로 이격될 수 있다.
극판 연결부(137)는 단자 접속부(131)와 극판 접속부(132)를 연결시킬 수 있다. 극판 연결부(137)는 이차 전지(100)의 단락 또는 과전류 발생 시, 발생된 열에 의해 용융 및 절단되어 전류를 차단함으로써, 안전성을 향상시킬 수 있다.
이와같은 제1집전판(130)의 형상은 일예로, 단자 접속부(131)와 극판 접속부(132) 및 퓨즈부(135)를 갖는 다양한 형태로 변경 가능 할 수 있다.
극판 접속부(132)는 용접 영역(138) 및 돌기부(139)를 포함할 수 있다. 용접영역(138)은 극판 접속부(132)의 중심으로 외측 방향인 직경 방향으로 구비될 수 있다. 여기서, 용접 영역(138)은 균일한 폭으로, 극판 접속부(132)를 균일한 넓이로 분할할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 용접 영역(138)은 4개로 도시하였으나 3개 또는 그 이하일 수 있으며 여기서 용접 영역(138)의 개수를 한정하는 것은 아니다. 여기서 용접영역(138)은 용접에 의해, 전극 조립체(110)의 상면(110a)에 용접되는 영역일 수 있다.
또한 극판 접속부(132)는 용접 영역(138) 이외의 영역의 하면(130b)에 돌기부(139)가 구비될 수 있다. 즉, 용접 영역(138)의 하면에는 돌기부(139)가 구비되지 않을 수 있다.
이와 같은 제1집전판(130)의 극판 접속부(132)는 하면(130b)에 돌기부(139)가 형성된 영역과, 용접에 의해 전극 조립체(110)의 상면(110a)과 용접되는 용접 영역(138)을 구비할 수 있다.
돌기부(139)는 제1집전판(130)의 하면(130b)으로부터 하부 방향으로 돌출되도록 구비될 수 있다. 돌기부(139)는 제1집전판(130)의 하면(130b)에 서로 이격되도록 다수개가 구비될 수 있다. 도 8에서 돌기부(139)는 직경방향으로 3열로 도시하였으나, 직경방향으로 적어도 2개 이상일 수 있다. 돌기부(139)는 평면상 원형일 수 있으며, 대략 반구 형상으로 돌출될 수 있다. 돌기부(139)의 평면상 직경은 대략 1mm 내지 대략 15mm일 수 있다. 또한 돌기부(139)의 최대 높이는 대략 0.4mm 내지 대략 2.9mm일 수 있다. 돌기부(139)는 돌기 중심에서 가장 높을 수 있으며, 가장자리로 갈수록 그 높이가 더 작아질 수 있다. 돌기부(139)의 높이는 제1집전판(130)의 하면(130b)으로부터의 높이일 수 있다. 또한 제1집전판(130)의 상면(130a)은 평평한 판 형상일 수 있다.
돌기부(139)의 평면상 직경이 대략 1mm 미만일 경우, 돌기부(139)의 높이를 대략 0.4mm이상으로 높일 수 없어, 돌기부(139)가 전극 조립체(110)의 상면(110a)에 접촉이 용이하지 않을 수 있다. 또한 돌기부(139)의 평면상 직경이 대략 15mm를 초과할 경우, 제1집전판(130)의 하면(130b)에 제공할 수 있는 돌기부(139)의 개수가 감소되어, 실질적으로 전극 조립체(110)의 상면(110a)과 접촉되는 면적은 증가되지 않을 수 있다.
돌기부(139)는 최대 높이가 대략 0.4mm미만으로 제공 및 성형이 어려울 수 있다. 돌기부(139)의 최대 높이가 대략 2.9mm를 초과할 경우, 돌기부(139)의 높이로 인해 전극 조립체(110)내에 제2전극판(112)과 접촉되어 단락이 발생될 수 있다.
이와같은 돌기부(139)의 평면 형상은 타원형 또는 다각형 형상을 가질 수 있으며, 그 형상은 다양하게 변경 가능할 수 있다.
또한 돌기부(139)는 거칠기 처리를 통해, 표면 거칠기가 다른 영역에 비해서 더 크도록 하여, 전극 조립체(110)의 상면(110a)과의 접촉 면적을 보다 증가 시킬 수 있다. 즉, 제1집전판(130)은 돌기부(139)만 구비할 때에 비해서, 표면 거칠기를 통해 전극 조립체(110)의 상면(110a)과 접촉이 보다 용이하여, 접촉 저항을 감소시킬 수 있다. 여기서 표면 거칠기가 더 크다는 것은, 거칠기 처리를 통해 평면상 및/또는 일방향 선에서 평균 높이 및/또는 최대 높이가 더 큰 것을 의미할 수 있다. 돌기부(139)는 거칠기 처리를 통해 표면 거칠기를 증가시킬 수 있다. 하나 이상의 실시예들에서, 거칠기 처리는 블라스트, 연마, 에칭 또는 탄소 고온 열처리 등일 수 있다.
돌기부(139)는 표면 거칠기의 최대 높이(Ry)가 대략 7㎛ 내지 대략 9㎛이고, 표면 거칠기의 평균 높이(Ra)가 대략 0.6㎛ 내지 대략 0.9㎛일 수 있다. 돌기부(139)의 표면 거칠기의 평균 높이가 대략 0.6㎛보다 작으면, 돌기부(139)만 구비할 때 보다 전극 조립체(110)의 상면(110a)과 접촉 면적이 증가되기 어려울 수 있다. 돌기부(139)의 표면 거칠기의 평균 높이가 대략 0.9㎛보다 더 크거나 최대 높이가 대략 9㎛보다 더 클 경우, 거칠기로 인해 표면을 따라 이동하는 전자 이동 경로가 감소되어, 저항이 증가될 수 있다. 표면 거칠기 처리된 돌기부(139)의 최대 높이는 대략 2.9mm 이하일 수 있다.
도 10 내지 도 12를 참조하면, 도 8의 A-A'선을 절단한 단면도의 다른예가 도시되어 있다. 도 10 내지 도 12는 제1집전판(130)의 단면도의 다른예가 도시되어 있다.
도 10을 참조하면, 제1집전판(130)은 거칠기 처리가 돌기부(139)의 표면 이외에도, 제1집전판(130)의 극판 접속부(132)의 하면(130a) 전체가 거칠기 처리되어, 표면 거칠기를 가질 수 있다. 제1집전판(130)의 극판 접속부(132)의 하면(130a) 전체에 거칠기 처리가 되어, 전극 조립체(110)의 상면(110a)과의 접촉을 더 증대시킬 수 있다. 다른 예로, 제1집전판(130)은 하면(130a) 전체가 거칠기 처리되어, 단자 접속부(131)의 하면(130a)도 표면 거칠기를 증가시킬 수 있다.
도 11을 참조하면, 제1집전판(130)은 상면(130a)에 돌기부(139)의 위치와 대응되는 위치에 오목부(139a)가 더 구비될 수 있다. 즉, 제1집전판(130)의 돌기부(139)는 평평한 제1집전판(130)에 가압에 의해 형성되어, 돌기부(139)가 형성된 면의 반대면인 상면(130a)에 오목부(139a)가 구비될 수 있다.
도 12를 참조하면 제1집전판(130)의 돌기부(139)의 높이가 상이할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 제1집전판(130)의 돌기부(139)는 단자 접속부(131)와 인접한 전극 조립체(110)의 권취 선단 영역과 접촉되는 권취 선단 돌기부(139x)의 높이(H1)와 전극 조립체에(110)의 권취 종단과 접촉되는 권취 종단 돌기부(139y)의 높이(H2)가 그 이외의 영역인 중간영역에 위치하는 돌기부(139z)의 높이(H3)와 같거나, 더 낮을 수 있다.
이는, 전극 조립체(110)는 제1전극탭(111b)이 절곡되어 다짐된 높이인 누적두께가 권취 선단과 권취 종단에 비해서 중심영역이 더 높을 수 있다. 예를 들어, 전극 조립체(110)는 제1전극탭(111b)의 누적 두께가 권취 선단과 권취 종단에서 대략 0.2mm이하일 수 있고, 중심영역에서 대략 0.5mm이하일 수 있다. 따라서, 제1집전판(130)은 권취 선단 돌기부(139x)와 권취 종단 돌기부(139x)의 높이(H1, H2)는 중심 영역 돌기부(139z)의 높이(H3)와 같거나, 더 작을 수 있다. 예를 들어, 중심 영역 돌기부(139z)의 높이(H3)는 대략 0.4mm 내지 대략 2.9mm이고, 권취 선단 돌기부(139x)와 권취 종단 돌기부(139x)의 높이(H1, H2)는 대략 0.4mm 내지 대략 2.4mm일 수 있다.
제2집전판(140)은 전극 조립체(110)의 하면(110b)과 대응되는 원형의 평면부(141)와, 평면부(141)의 가장자리로부터 하부 방향으로 연장된 연장부(142)를 포함할 수 있다.
이와같은 제2집전판(140)은 평면부(141)의 상면(140a)에 돌기부(149)가 더 구비될 수 있다. 돌기부(149)는 제2집전판(140)의 평면부(141)의 상면(140a)으로부터 상부 방향으로 돌출되도록 구비될 수 있다. 돌기부(139)는 제2집전판(140)의 평면부(141)의 상면(140a)에 서로 이격되도록 다수개가 구비될 수 있다. 돌기부(149)는 직경방향으로 적어도 2개 이상일 수 있다. 돌기부(149)의 형상 및 크기는 제1집전판(130)의 돌기부(139)의 형상 및 크기와 유사할 수 있다.
돌기부(149)는 거칠기 처리를 통해 표면 거칠기를 증가시킬 수 있다. 돌기부(149)는 표면 거칠기가 제2집전판(140)의 다른 영역에 비해서 더 클 수 있다. 돌기부(149)는 거칠기가 최대 높이(Ry)가 대략 4.6㎛ 내지 대략 5.6㎛이고, 평균 높이(Ra)가 대략 0.39㎛ 내지 대략 0.44㎛일 수 있다. 제2집전판(140)은 돌기부(149)의 거칠기의 평균 높이가 대략 0.39㎛보다 작으면, 제2집전판(140)과 전극 조립체(110)의 하면(110b) 사이에 접촉 면적이 돌기부(149)만 구비할 때 보다 증가되기 어려울 수 있다. 제2집전판(140)의 돌기부(149)의 거칠기의 평균 높이가 대략 0.44㎛보다 더 크거나, 최대 높이(Ry)가 대략 5.6㎛보다 크면, 표면을 따라 이동하는 전자 이동 경로가 감소되어, 저항이 증가될 수 있다.
제2집전판(140)의 평면부(141)는 상면이 전극 조립체(110)의 하면(110b)과 접촉 및 전기적을 접속될 수 있다. 평면부(141)의 상면은 전극 조립체(110)의 하면(110b)에 접촉된 상태에서 용접에 의해, 전극 조립체(110)의 하부로 노출된 제2전극탭(112b)에 고정 및 전기적으로 접속될 수 있다. 여기서 평면부(141)는 전극 조립체(110)의 하면(110b)과 용접되는 용접 영역에는 돌기부(149)가 구비되지 않을 수 있다.
연장부(142)는 평면부(141)의 가장자리로부터 하부 방향으로 연장될 수 있다. 일예로 연장부(142)는 평면부(141)의 가장자리를 따라 서로 이격되도록 다수개 구비될 수 있다. 또한 연장부(142)는 비딩부(123)의 내표면에 접촉될 수 있다. 즉, 연장부(142)는 비딩부(123)를 따라 라운드 또는 절곡될 수 있다. 여기서 내표면은 케이스(120)의 내측 표면일 수 있다. 연장부(142)는 끝단부가 비딩부(123)와 캡 가스켓(127)사이에 위치할 수 있다. 이와같은 연장부(142)는 케이스(120)의 비딩부(123)에 접촉 및 결합될 수 있다. 일예로 연장부(142)는 케이스(120)의 비딩부(123)의 내표면에 접촉된 상태로 용접에 의해 결합될 수 있다. 상기 제2집전판(140)은 전극 조립체(110)의 제2전극판(112)과 케이스(120)사이의 전류의 흐름 통로가 된다. 즉, 케이스(120)는 음극 단자일 수 있다.
다른예로 제2집전판(140)은 상면(140a)에서 평면부(141)가 위치하는 영역에만 거칠기 처리를 하여, 표면 거칠기를 증가시킬 수 있다. 이때, 제2집전판(140)은 연장부(142)에 비해서 평면부(141)의 상면과 돌기부(149)의 표면의 표면 거칠기가 더 클 수 있다. 즉, 제2집전판(140)은 상면(140a)에서 표면 거칠기가 평면부(141)와 돌기부(149)가 연장부(142)에 비해 더 크거나 같을 수 있다. 또한 제2집전판(140)의 돌기부(149)는 그 높이가 도 12에 도시된 제1집전판(130)과 유사할 수 있으며, 돌기부(149) 형성은 가압에 의해 형성되어 제2집전판(140)의 하면에 돌기부(149)와 대응되는 홈이 구비될 수 있다.
이와같은 이차 전지(100)는 전극 조립체(110)의 제1전극탭(111b)과 제2전극탭(112b)의 절곡 및 다짐에 의해서 상면(110a)과 하면(110b)의 표면 거칠기를 가지므로, 제1집전판(130) 및 제2집전판(140)에서 전극 조립체(110)에 접촉되는 영역에 돌기부(139, 149)가 구비되어 접촉을 증가시킴으로써, 전극 조립체(110)와 제1집전판(130)사이, 전극 조립체(110)와 제2집전판(140)사이의 접촉 저항을 감소시킬 수 있다.
도 13 내지 도 16은 도 1 내지 도 6에 도시된 이차 전지에서 제1집전판의 다양한 예를 도시한 평면도가 도시되어 있다.
도 13을 참조하면, 제1집전판(230)은 단자 접속부(131), 극판 접속부(132) 및 퓨즈부(235)를 포함할 수 있다. 퓨즈부(235)는 퓨즈홀(136), 극판 연결부(137) 및 돌기홀(236a)을 포함할 수 있다. 돌기홀(236a)은 퓨즈홀(136)의 일단과 타단에 각각 형성될 수 있다. 퓨즈홀(136)의 양단에 형성된 돌기홀(236a)은 서로를 향해 가까워지는 방향으로 돌출될 수 있다. 돌기홀(236a)의 너비는 퓨즈홀(136)의 너비보다 작을 수 있다. 돌기홀(236a)은 극판 연결부(137)의 너비(W2), 즉 전류가 흐르는 단면적을 줄여주어, 퓨즈부(235)의 기능을 향상시킬 수 있다.
도 14을 참조하면, 제1집전판(330)은 단자 접속부(131), 극판 접속부(132) 및 퓨즈부(335)를 포함할 수 있다. 퓨즈부(335)는 퓨즈홀(136), 극판 연결부(337), 돌기홀(236a) 및 연장홀(336b)을 포함할 수 있다. 연장홀(336b)은 퓨즈홀(136)의 양단에서 극판 연결부(337)의 길이만큼 각각 제1집전판(330)의 외측을 향해 연장될 수 있다. 퓨즈홀(136)의 양단에 형성된 연장홀(336b)은 서로 평행할 수 있다. 연장홀(336b)은 극판 연결부(337)의 길이(L), 즉 전류가 흐르는 길이를 늘려주어, 퓨즈부(335)의 기능을 향상시킬 수 있다.
도 15를 참조하면, 제1집전판(430)은 단자 접속부(131), 극판 접속부(132) 및 퓨즈부(435)를 포함할 수 있다. 퓨즈부(435)는 서로 이격된 2개의 퓨즈홀(436)과, 퓨즈홀(436) 사이에 위치한 2개의 극판 연결부(437)를 포함할 수 있다. 2개의 퓨즈홀(436)은 제1집전판(430)의 중심을 기준으로 동심원 상에 위치하며, 서로 대칭일 수 있다. 제1집전판(430)의 중심에 대해 극판 연결부(437)가 이루는 각(b)은 약 30도 내지 50도 일 수 있다.
도 16을 참조하면, 제1집전판(530)은 단자 접속부(131), 극판 접속부(132) 및 퓨즈부(535)를 포함할 수 있다. 퓨즈부(535)는 서로 이격된 3개의 퓨즈홀(536)과, 퓨즈홀(536) 사이에 위치한 3개의 극판 연결부(537)를 포함할 수 있다. 3개의 퓨즈홀(536)은 제1집전판(530)의 중심을 기준으로 동심원 상에 위치할 수 있으며, 동일한 크기로 형성될 수 있다. 제1집전판(530)의 중심에 대해 극판 연결부(537)가 이루는 각(c)은 약 8도 내지 15도일 수 있다.
도 17 본 개시에 따른 예시적인 이차 전지(100')를 도시한 단면도이다. 도 17에 도시된 이차전지(100')는 단자(150)가 캡플레이트(160)에 결합될 수 있다. 또한 전극 조립체(110)의 제2전극탭(112b)가 케이스(120')의 하측부(122')에 직접 용접될 수 있다.
케이스(120')는 하측부(122')와 하측부(122')의 가장자리로부터 상측방향으로 연장된 몸통부(121)를 포함할 수 있다. 또한 하측부(122')는 노치에 의해 다른 영역에 비해서 두께가 더 얇은 안전 벤트(122a)를 포함할 수 있다. 이차 전지(100')의 과충전 또는 이상 작동 등에 의해 가스가 발생하는 경우, 케이스(120')에 구비된 안전 벤트(122a)는 노치를 따라 절개될 수 있다. 절개된 안전 벤트(122a)는 가스를 외부로 방출하여 이차 전지(100')의 폭발을 방지할 수 있다.
캡플레이트(160')는 몸통부(121)의 끝단인 상단에 용접에 의해 결합될 수 있다. 또한 캡플레이트(160')에 구비된 단자홀에 단자(150)가 결합될 수 있다. 물론 캡플레이트(160')와 단자(150) 사이는 단자 가스켓(125)에 의해 전기적으로 분리될 수 있다. 이차 전지(100')의 그 이외의 구성은 도 1 및 도 2에 도시된 이차 전지(100)와 유사할 수 있다.
상술한 실시예에 따른 이차 전지는 배터리 팩을 제조하는데 사용될 수 있다.
도 18a 및 도 18b는 본 발명에 따른 예시적 이차 전지(100)를 포함하는 배터리 팩을 도시한 사시도이다. 도 18a 및 도 18b를 참조하면, 배터리 팩(300)은 다수의 배터리 모듈(200)과 다수의 배터리 모듈(200)을 수용하기 위한 하우징(310)을 포함할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 하우징(310)은 다수의 배터리모듈(200)을 개재하여 서로 마주하는 방향으로 결합되는 제1, 제2 하우징(311,312)을 포함할 수 있다. 상기 다수의 배터리 모듈(200)은 버스 바(251)를 이용하여 서로 전기적으로 연결될 수 있고, 다수의 배터리 모듈(200)이 직렬/병렬 또는 직병렬 혼합 방식으로 서로 전기적으로 연결되어 요구되는 전기적인 출력을 얻을 수 있다. 도면에서는, 도시의 편의상 배터리 셀들의 전기적 연결을 위한 버스바, 냉각 유닛, 외부 단자 등의 부품의 도시는 생략되었다. 일부 예들에서, 배터리 팩(300)은 자동차에 탑재될 수 있다. 자동차는 일 예로 전기 자동차, 하이브리드 자동차 또는 플러그인 하이브리드 자동차일 수 있다. 자동차는 4륜 자동차 또는 2륜 자동차를 포함할 수 있다.
도 19a 및 도 19b는 본 발명에 따른 예시적 배터리 팩(300)을 포함하는 자동차(400,500)를 도시한 사시도 및 측면도이다. 도 19a에서 배터리 팩(300)은 차량 언더 바디(410)의 일 부분인 배터리 팩 커버(311)(상기 제1하우징에 대응할 수 있음)와 상기 차량 언더 바디(410)의 하부에 배치되는 팩 프레임(312)(상기 제2하우징에 대응할 수 있음)을 포함할 수 있다. 배터리 팩 커버(311) 및 팩 프레임(312)은 차량 바닥부(420)와 일체로 형성된 구조일 수 있다. 상기 차량 언더 바디(410)는 차량의 내부와 외부를 분리하며, 상기 팩 프레임(312)은 차량의 외부에 배치될 수 있다.
도 19b에 도시된 바와 같이 차량(500)은 차체(400)에 차량 전방의 후드(510) 및 차량의 전후방에 각각 위치된 펜더(520)와 같은 추가적인 부품들이 결합되어 이루어질 수 있다. 차량(500)은 배터리 팩 커버(311) 및 팩 프레임(312)을 포함하는 배터리 팩(300)을 포함하며, 배터리 팩(300)은 차체 부품(400)에 결합될 수 있다.
이상에서 설명한 것은 본 발명에 의한 이차 전지를 실시하기 위한 하나의 실시예에 불과한 것으로서, 본 발명은 상기한 실시예에 한정되지 않고, 이하의 특허청구범위에서 청구하는 바와 같이 본 발명의 요지를 벗어남이 없이 당해 발명이 속하는 분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자라면 누구든지 다양한 변경 실시가 가능한 범위까지 본 발명의 기술적 정신이 있다고 할 것이다.
이상에서 설명한 것은 본 발명에 의한 이차 전지를 실시하기 위한 하나의 실시예에 불과한 것으로서, 본 발명은 상기한 실시예에 한정되지 않고, 이하의 특허청구범위에서 청구하는 바와 같이 본 발명의 요지를 벗어남이 없이 당해 발명이 속하는 분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자라면 누구든지 다양한 변경 실시가 가능한 범위까지 본 발명의 기술적 정신이 있다고 할 것이다.

Claims (20)

  1. 제1전극판, 세퍼레이터 및 제2전극판을 갖는 전극 조립체;
    상기 전극 조립체가 수용된 케이스;
    상기 케이스를 관통하는 단자; 및
    상기 전극 조립체의 상면과 상기 케이스 사이에 개재되며, 상기 제1전극판과 상기 단자 사이를 전기적으로 연결하는 제1집전판을 포함하며,
    상기 제1집전판은 상기 전극 조립체의 상면과 접촉되는 하면과 상기 하면의 반대인 상면을 포함하고, 상기 제1집전판의 상기 하면은 상기 전극 조립체의 방향으로 돌출된 돌기부를 구비하고, 상기 돌기부의 표면 거칠기가 상기 제1집전판의 상기 상면의 표면 거칠기에 비해서 더 큰 이차 전지.
  2. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 제1집전판은 원형 판 형상으로
    상기 단자의 하면에 접촉 및 전기적으로 접속된 단자 접속부; 및
    상기 전극 조립체의 상면으로 노출된 제1전극 탭과 접촉 및 전기적으로 접속되며, 상기 단자 접속부의 외측에 위치하는 극판 접속부를 포함하는 이차 전지.
  3. 제 2 항에 있어서,
    상기 극판 접속부는 직경방향으로 연장되며, 상기 전극 조립체의 상면에 용접되는 용접영역과,
    상기 용접 영역 이외의 영역에 상기 돌기부가 구비되며,
    상기 돌기부는 상기 극판 접속부의 직경 방향으로 적어도 2개 이상 구비된 이차 전지.
  4. 제 3 항에 있어서,
    상기 극판 접속부의 상면은 평평한 평면인 이차 전지.
  5. 제 3 항에 있어서,
    상기 극판 접속부의 상면은 상기 돌기부와 대응되는 오목부가 구비된 이차 전지.
  6. 제 3 항에 있어서,
    상기 극판 접속부의 하면은 거칠기 처리되어, 표면 거칠기가 상기 극판 접속부의 상면에 비해서 더 큰 이차 전지.
  7. 제 3 항에 있어서,
    상기 돌기부는 상기 전극 조립체의 권취 선단 영역과 접촉되는 권취 선단 돌기부의 높이와 상기 전극 조립체의 권취 종단과 접촉되는 권취 종단 돌기부의 높이가 그 이외의 영역인 중간영역에 위치하는 중간 영역 돌기부의 높이와 같거나, 더 낮은 이차 전지.
  8. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 제1전극판은 상기 전극 조립체의 상면으로부터 상부 방향으로 돌출되고, 상기 전극 조립체의 권취축 방향으로 절곡 및 다져진 다수의 제1전극탭을 더 포함하고,
    상기 제2전극판은 상기 전극 조립체의 하면으로부터 하부 방향으로 돌출되고, 상기 전극 조립체의 권취축 방향으로 절곡 및 다져진 다수의 제2전극탭을 더 포함하는 이차 전지.
  9. 제 8 항에 있어서,
    상기 전극 조립체는 상기 제1전극탭이 절곡되어 다짐된 높이인 누적 두께가 권취 선단과 권취 종단에 비해서 중심 영역이 더 높은 이차 전지.
  10. 제 8항에 있어서,
    상기 전극 조립체의 하면과 대응되는 원형 판 형상으로, 상기 전극 조립체의 하면으로 노출된 상기 제2전극탭과 접촉 및 전기적으로 접속된 제2집전판을 더 포함하는 이차 전지.
  11. 제 10항에 있어서,
    상기 제2집전판은 상기 전극 조립체의 하면에 접촉된 원형의 평면부; 및
    상기 평면부의 가장자리로부터 하부 방향으로 연장되어 상기 케이스에 접촉된 연장부를 포함하는 이차 전지.
  12. 제 11항에 있어서,
    상기 평면부는 상기 제2집전판의 상면에 상기 전극 조립체의 하면 방향으로 돌출된 다수의 돌기부를 포함하며, 상기 돌기부의 표면 거칠기는 상기 제2집전판의 하면의 표면 거칠기에 비해 더 큰 이차 전지.
  13. 제 12 항에 있어서,
    상기 제2집전판의 상면의 표면 거칠기가 상기 제2집전판의 하면의 표면 거칠기에 비해서 더 큰 이차 전지.
  14. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 케이스는 상측부; 및 상기 상측부의 가장자리로부터 하부 방향으로 연장된 몸통부를 포함하며,
    상기 단자는 상기 케이스의 상기 상측부를 관통하여, 상기 제1집전판과 결합된 이차 전지.
  15. 제 14 항에 있어서,
    상기 케이스는 상기 몸통부의 하측단을 밀봉하는 캡 플레이트를 더 포함하는 이차 전지.
  16. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 케이스는 하측부; 및 상기 하측부의 가장자리로부터 상부 방향으로 연장된 몸통부를 포함하고,
    상기 몸통부의 상측단을 밀봉하는 캡 플레이트를 더 포함하는 이차 전지.
  17. 제 16 항에 있어서,
    상기 단자는 상기 캡 플레이트를 관통하여 상기 제1집전판과 결합된 이차 전지.
  18. 제 8 항에 있어서,
    상기 전극 조립체는 하면의 표면 거칠기가 상면의 표면 거칠기에 비해서 더 큰 이차 전지.
  19. 제 8 항에 있어서,
    상기 다수의 제1전극 탭은 상기 제1전극판에서 전극 활물질이 도포되지 않은 제1무지부로, 권취 방향을 따라 서로 이격되도록 다수개가 배치된 이차 전지.
  20. 제 8 항에 있어서,
    상기 다수의 제1전극 탭은 상기 제1전극판에서 권취 선단과 권취 종단에는 구비되지 않는 이차 전지.
