- a method for producing a transparent substrate with an absorbent layer includes a method of obtaining a transparent substrate with an absorbent layer by performing an absorbent layer forming step of forming an absorbent layer on a first main surface of the transparent substrate and a printing step of forming a printing layer on a second main surface of the transparent substrate.
- the absorbent layer forming step and the printing step may be performed in any order. That is, the absorbent layer may be formed before the printing layer is formed, or the printing layer may be formed before the absorbent layer is formed.
- An example of the absorption layer forming process for forming an absorption layer on the first main surface of the transparent substrate is a method in which a precursor layer is formed on the first main surface of the transparent substrate using a composition for forming an absorption layer containing a precursor of a matrix material, color pigment particles, and a liquid medium, and the obtained precursor layer is cured to form the absorption layer.
- a precursor layer is formed on the first main surface of the transparent substrate using a composition for forming an absorption layer containing a precursor of a matrix material, color pigment particles, and a liquid medium, and the obtained precursor layer is cured to form the absorption layer.

- the solid content of the absorbent layer-forming composition is preferably 0.5 to 20% by mass, more preferably 1 to 15% by mass, based on the total mass of the absorbent layer-forming composition. If the solid content is equal to or greater than the lower limit of the above range, the amount of liquid of the coating composition can be reduced. If the solid content is equal to or less than the upper limit of the above range, the thickness uniformity of the absorbent layer is improved.

- electrostatic coating method is a method utilizing the electrospray phenomenon in which an absorbent layer-forming composition supplied from a syringe to the tip of a nozzle is discharged while applying a voltage of several thousand volts, thereby generating fine droplets of the absorbent layer-forming composition due to electrostatic repulsion, and the charged droplets are attached to the first main surface of the transparent substrate by electrostatic force.
- Electrostatic coating using this method can be performed using an electrostatic coating device (for example, a Micro Mist Coater manufactured by Nagase Techno Engineering Co., Ltd.).
