Definitions
- This disclosure relates to a communication device, a control method, and a program.
- 3GPP Third Generation Partnership Project
- IAB Integrated Access and Backhaul
- the radio resources used for the access line between the base station (gNB) and user equipment (UE) are also used for the backhaul line.
- radio resources in the millimeter wave band such as the 28 GHz band, are used (Patent Document 1).
- IAB technology allows relay devices (IAB nodes) to relay communications between base station devices (IAB donors) and terminal devices via wireless lines, enabling area coverage to be expanded more cheaply than using wired lines such as optical fiber.
- network topology formation in an IAB is achieved by an IAB node establishing a connection with the IAB donor or other IAB node with the best received signal strength.
- Patent Document 2 proposes a technology that creates appropriate communication links according to usage conditions by notifying lower-level IAB nodes of information related to wireless link route settings based on wireless link measurement results for broadcast signals and downlink reference signals.
- IAB nodes that do not move In 3GPP, specifications for fixed base stations (IAB nodes that do not move) have been developed up until Release 17, which marks the standardization phase. Furthermore, Release 18 proposes a new use case, Vehicle Mounted Relay. Furthermore, architecture and protocol specifications for IAB nodes that move, known as Mobile IAB or Mobile Base Station Relay (MBSR), are being developed.
- MBSR Mobile Base Station Relay
- the present invention has been made in consideration of at least one of the above-mentioned problems.
- One aspect of the present invention aims to provide a mechanism that enables more stable communication in IAB.
- a communication device is a communication device that constitutes a backhaul network, a generating means for generating connection continuity information indicating whether a connection link of one or more MBSRs (Mobile Base Station Relays) connected to the upper layer is stable;
- the communication device is characterized by comprising a transmitting means for transmitting the connection continuity information to another communication device.
- MBSRs Mobile Base Station Relays
- the present invention makes it possible to provide a mechanism that enables more stable communications in IAB.

- FIG. 2 is a hardware functional block diagram of the MBSR.
- FIG. 2 is a software functional block diagram of the MBSR.
- FIG. 10 is a sequence diagram showing an example of a connection process between a UE and an MBSR (first embodiment); 10 is a flowchart illustrating an example of a process for determining a connection destination in a UE and an MBSR. 10 is a flowchart illustrating an example of calculation of the number of MBSR hops in MBSR and a transmission process.
- FIG. 10 is a sequence diagram showing an example of a connection process between a UE and an MBSR (second embodiment);
- FIG. 1 illustrates an example configuration of an IAB network according to an embodiment of the present disclosure.
- IAB network 100 there is a donor 101 that provides a connection to CN 130, and UE 110 or MBSR 107 is attempting to connect to IAB network 100.
- UE 110 or MBSR 107 wakes up from a sleep state to start connection processing with one of the IAB donors and nodes 101-106 that make up IAB network 100.
- CN stands for Core Network, and is responsible for various processes such as authenticating the terminal UE 110 and registering slice usage.
- UE 110 is a mobile terminal used by bus passengers or pedestrians.
- MBSRs 104-107 are communication devices mounted on the bus and function as IAB nodes that move as the bus moves.
- IAB network 100 fixed IAB nodes 102 and 103, which do not move, are connected to the IAB donor 101, and mobile MBSRs 104-106 are connected below the IAB 102. Because the MBSR is a type of IAB node, for ease of explanation, the MBSRs 104-106 are sometimes referred to as IAB nodes 104-106 or mIAB nodes 104-106. mIAB is an abbreviation for mobile IAB. Furthermore, each IAB donor and IAB node 101-106, including the MBSR, periodically transmits an MIB (Master Information Block) and an SIB (System Information Block) as notification signals.
- MIB Master Information Block
- SIB System Information Block
- UE 110 or MBSR 107 analyzes broadcast information from IAB nodes 101-106, including IAB donor 101 and MBSR, and determines that the received signal strength from MBSRs 104-106 is equal to or greater than a predetermined threshold, making them suitable candidates for connection. For example, assume that UE 110 or MBSR 107 determines as follows: That is, the received signal strength from MBSR 106 is the highest, followed by MBSR 105 and MBSR 104. Furthermore, MBSR 106 is three hops away from IAB node 102; similarly, MBSR 105 is two hops away, and MBSR 104 is one hop away.
- the number of hops from the IAB donor 101 via IAB nodes including the MBSR is simply referred to as the number of hops, and the number of hops from the IAB donor 101 that only passes through the MBSR is distinguished from the MBSR hop count.
- connection continuity information may be, for example, the MBSR hop count.
- the MBSR hop count is reported as connection continuity information in the SIB broadcast information transmitted by each MBSR 104-106.
- the connection continuity information may be reported via MIB or may be included in an SSB (Synchronization Signal Block).
- the hop count may also be reported in addition to the MBSR hop count.
- the connection continuity information may be mobility information.
- the mobility information may include status information indicating whether the station is moving or stationary, and location information indicating the speed of movement and current location.
- MBSR106 has the highest MBSR hop count, and is therefore at a higher risk of disconnection due to movement of its own station as well as the movement of MBSRs 104 and 105 connected to it at higher levels than the other MBSRs 104 and 105.
- MBSR105 also has the second highest risk of disconnection, with an MBSR hop count of 2. Therefore, UE110 or MBSR107 selects MBSR104, whose received radio wave strength is above a predetermined threshold and has the smallest MBSR hop count, as its connection destination, and executes RRC (Radio Resource Control) connection processing.
- RRC Radio Resource Control
- IAB nodes 102 and 103 are not included as communication nodes with received radio wave strength above a threshold. However, if IAB nodes 102 and 103 that do not move are included, IAB nodes 102 and 103 may be preferentially selected as connection destinations because they have a lower risk of disconnection than MBSRs 104 to 106.
- MBSRs 104-107 are assumed to be mounted on buses, but they may also be IAB nodes mounted on other moving objects such as vehicles, aircraft, ships, or people.
- Figure 2 is a block diagram showing an example of the hardware configuration of MBSRs 104-107 in this embodiment.

- the connection control unit 304 also performs processing related to the connection with UE 110 and the connection with CN 130.
- RRC Radio Resource Control
- the connection destination determination unit 305 acquires the received signal strength of the IAB donor or other nodes (e.g., IAB donor 101, IAB nodes 101 and 102, MBSRs 104 to 106) stored in the data storage unit 303.
- the connection destination determination unit 305 also acquires connection continuity information from the broadcast information received by the signal receiving unit 302.

- NMEA National Marine Electronics Association
- MBSRs 104-107 determine whether they are located inside or outside the permitted area in which they can operate as an IAB node, based on the current location acquired by the GPS control unit 308.
- UE 110 may also be implemented using a software configuration similar to that of MBSRs 104-107 or that shares some of the functional blocks.
- Figure 4 is a sequence diagram showing an example of connection between UE 110 and MBSR 107 according to this embodiment.
- the received radio wave strength of the broadcast signals received by UE 110 and MBSR 107 from the IAB donor and IAB nodes 101-103 is assumed to be lower than a predetermined threshold.
- MBSRs 104-106 include the MBSR hop count in SIB1 and broadcast it.
- the MBSR hop counts that MBSRs 104-106 include in SIB1 are 1 for MBSR 104, 2 for MBSR 105, and 3 for MBSR 106.
- MBSR 104's MBSR hop count is 1, making it the least risky of connection out of MBSRs 104-106.
- UE 110 and MBSR 107 receive the broadcast signal.
- UE 110 and MBSR 107 also measure the received radio wave strength based on the broadcast signal from MBSRs 104 to 106.
- UE 110 and MBSR 107 wake up from their sleep state to connect to the mobile network.
- UE 110 and MBSR 107 determine whether the received signal strength of MBSRs 104-106 is above a threshold. UE 110 and MBSR 107 also determine which MBSR 104-106 to connect to based on the number of MBSR hops from MBSRs 104-106. UE 110 and MBSR 107 determine the MBSR 104 with the received signal strength above the threshold and the smallest number of MBSR hops as the connection destination.
- UE 110 and MBSR 107 send a randomly selected preamble, which is a fixed pattern, to MBSR 104 as a RACH (Random Access Channel) preamble message.
- RACH Random Access Channel
- MBSR104 receives the RACH preamble message.
- MBSR104 transmits a RACH response message to UE110 and MBSR107, indicating that it has received the RACH preamble message and including transmission timing information and bandwidth allocation information.
- UE 110 and MBSR 107 receive the RACH response message.
- UE 110 and MBSR 107 send an RRC connection request to MBSR 104 in accordance with the transmission timing and bandwidth allocation information of the RACH response message received in S409.
- the RRC connection request is an RRC connection request message.
- the MBSR 104 receives an RRC connection request message.
- MBSR104 responds to the RRC connection request by sending control information for the RRC connection as an RRC connection setup message.
- UE 110 and MBSR 107 receive an RRC connection setup message, completing the RRC link connection.
- MBSR107 sends an RRC Setup Complete message including information that it is an MBSR, to indicate that a connection has been established as an IAB node.
- MBSR104 receives the RRC Setup Complete message and identifies MBSR107 as an MBSR. In the case of UE110, the RRC Setup Complete messages of S414 and S415 are not sent or received.
- an RRC link is established, and UE 110 and MBSR 107 begin data communication with CN 130 via MBSR 104 and IAB donor 101.
- MBSR 107 also begins transmitting a notification signal containing connection continuity information with an MBSR hop count of 2.
- Figure 5 is a flowchart showing an example of the connection destination determination process in UE 110 and MBSR 107 according to this embodiment.
- connection destination determination process is performed by the connection destination determination unit 305.
- UE 110 and MBSR 107 receive the MBSR hop count as connection continuity information from the broadcast signals from the IAB donor and IAB nodes 101-106.
- UE 110 and MBSR 107 also measure the received radio wave strength from the broadcast signals from the IAB donor and IAB nodes 101-106.
- UE 110 and MBSR 107 determine whether there are multiple IAB donors and nodes 101-106 whose received radio wave strength is equal to or greater than a predetermined threshold. If the result of the determination in S501 is that multiple donors and nodes 101-106 are not detected, the process in S502 is executed; if multiple donors and nodes are detected, the process in S503 is executed.
- S503 it is determined whether there is an IAB donor 101 or fixed IAB nodes 102, 103 among the IAB donors and nodes 101-106 whose received radio wave strength is above the threshold. If the determination result in S503 indicates that the IAB donor 101 or fixed IAB nodes 102, 103 is not detected, the determination in S505 is executed; if they are detected, the processing in S504 is executed.
- connection processing is performed with the IAB donor 101 and fixed IAB nodes 102 and 103 with the best received radio wave strength.
- S505 it is determined whether there are multiple MBSRs 104-106 whose received radio wave strength is above the threshold and has the smallest MBSR hop count. If the result of the determination in S505 is that multiple MBSRs are not detected, the processing of S506 is executed; if multiple MBSRs are detected, S506 is executed.
- connection processing is performed with an MBSR (e.g., MBSR104) that is a node with a received radio wave strength above a threshold and has the smallest number of MBSR hops.
- MBSR e.g., MBSR104
- connection processing is performed with MBSR 104-106, which has the smallest MBSR hop count and the highest received radio wave strength among the nodes whose received radio wave strength is above the threshold.
- Figure 6 is a flowchart showing an example of MBSR hop count calculation and transmission processing in MBSR 107.
- the process shown in Figure 6, which will be explained here, is executed by the hop count calculation unit 306 after the MBSR 107 executes connection processing with the IAB donor and node (e.g., MBSR 104) and establishes an RRC link in S413.
- the IAB donor and node e.g., MBSR 104
- an RRC connection is established in MBSR107.
- connection destination of MBSR107 is an MBSR (e.g., MBSR104-106), and if it is an MBSR, it executes the processing of S603; if not, it executes the processing of S602.
- MBSR e.g., MBSR104-106
- MBSR 107 sets its own MBSR hop count to 1.
- MBSR107 adds 1 to the MBSR hop count sent by the MBSR (e.g., MBSR104) to which it is connected upstream. For example, when MBSR107 connects to MBSR104, it adds 1 to the MBSR hop count of 1 reported by MBSR104, and MBSR107 sets the MBSR hop count to 2.
- S604 it is determined whether there are any IAB nodes 104-106 that are stopped in the upstream MBSR, and if there are, the process of S605 is executed. If there are no stopped IAB nodes, the process of S606 is executed.
- the determination in S604 uses the mobility information included in the connection continuity information broadcast by the upstream MBSR 104.
- the connection continuity information may include both the MBSR hop count and mobility information.
- MBSR107 subtracts the number of stopped MBSRs from the MBSR hop count. For example, if MBSR104 is stopped, MBSR107 subtracts 1 from the MBSR hop count of 2 and reports 1 as the MBSR hop count as connection continuity information.
- MBSR107 transmits the MBSR hop count as connection continuity information.
- each MBSR 104-107 determines whether or not it is stopped, and if it is stopped, it may subtract one from the MBSR hop count to be reported and include it in the broadcast signal before transmitting. Furthermore, if there is an IAB node 104-106 that updates its mobility information while moving from a stopped state, it may update the MBSR hop count in S605. Furthermore, if mobility information is not reported, the MBSR hop count to be reported by each MBSR 104-107 may be updated in response to the status update from a stopped state to a moving state.
- MBSRs 104-106 when only MBSRs 104-106 are detected as connection destination candidates with received signal strength above a threshold, UE 110 and MBSR 107 are able to connect to MBSR 104, which has a small MBSR hop count and a low risk of connection loss. Furthermore, MBSRs 104-107 calculate the MBSR hop count and transmit it as connection continuity information in broadcast information, allowing MBSR 107 to determine which MBSR 104 has a low risk of connection loss. Furthermore, by including mobility information in the connection continuity information, it becomes possible to manage the MBSR hop count according to the movement or stop status of MBSRs 104-106 connected to the higher level.
- connection continuity information including the MBSR hop count and mobility information, may be added to the mbsr-continuity-info field of the mbsr-Cellinfo field in the SIB1 broadcast signal.
- this is not limited to this, and it may also be added to reserved bits or fields in other SSBs or MIBs.
- Patent Document 2 attempts to select a connection destination based on link quality, congestion, and number of hops at the upper connection node are known (Patent Document 2), but if MBSR is included in the connection destination candidates, it is necessary to take into account the connection continuity of the communication link.
- MBSRs 104-106 generate and transmit connection continuity information including the MBSR hop count, thereby enabling UE 110 and MBSR 107 to achieve a connection that takes into account the connection continuity of the communication link. This reduces the risk of connection interruptions in UEs and MBSRs that pass through multiple MBSRs as higher-level connecting nodes, even when the MBSR implements a multi-hop connection.
- MBSRs 104 to 106 generate and transmit connection continuity information including mobility information, allowing UE 110 and MBSR 107 to utilize connection continuity that takes into account the mobility information of MBSRs 104 to 106.
- connection processing will be described in which connection continuity information is included in the RACH response, which is a message sent when an RRC connection is established, instead of a broadcast signal.
- RACH response which is a message sent when an RRC connection is established, instead of a broadcast signal.
- Figure 7 is a sequence diagram showing an example of connection processing between UE 110 and MBSR 107 according to this embodiment.
- Figure 7 as with Figure 5 shown in embodiment 1, it is assumed that the received radio wave strength of the broadcast signals from the IAB donor and IAB nodes 101 to 103 is lower than a predetermined threshold.
- steps S700 to S702 SSB and SIB1 are transmitted as notification signals from MBSRs 104 to 106.
- UE 110 and MBSR 107 receive broadcast signals from MBSRs 104 to 106.
- UE 110 and MBSR 107 measure the received radio wave strength based on the broadcast signals from the IAB donor and MBSRs 104 to 106.
- UE 110 and MBSR 107 wake up from their sleep states to connect to the mobile network.
- UE 110 and MBSR 107 determine whether the received radio wave strength of MBSRs 104-106 is above a threshold.
- UE 110 and MBSR 107 transmit RACH preamble messages from S705 onwards only to MBSRs 104-106 whose received radio wave strength is above the threshold.
- UE 110 and MBSR 107 transmit a randomly selected preamble, which is a fixed pattern, as a RACH preamble message to MBSR 106.
- the MBSR 106 receives the RACH preamble message.
- MBSR106 transmits a RACH response message to UE110 and MBSR107 indicating that it has received the RACH preamble message and including transmission timing information and bandwidth allocation information. - the connection continuity information may include indication information of the level and time at which the connection can be maintained depending on the movement speed and location information detected by the GPS control unit 308.
- the MBSR may use the movement speed and location information as indication information to indicate the length of time until the device moves outside the specific area where service cannot be provided.
- the indication information may express the length of time until the MBSR moves outside the specific area where service cannot be provided in multiple levels (stages). For example, level 1 may represent the shortest time, and level 3 the longest time.
- the connection continuity information may also include indication information such as a high risk of connection loss when the movement speed is fast and a low risk when the movement speed is slow.

Abstract
Description
また、各IABドナー及びMBSRを含むIABノード101~106は報知信号としてMIB(Master Information Block)とSIB(System Information Block)を定期的に送信している。
ここで、接続継続性情報はMIBにより報知されてもよいし、SSB(Synchronization Signal Block)に含められてもよい。
制御部201は、CPU(Central Processing Unit)又はMPU(Micro Processing Unit)等の1つ以上のプロセッサを含む。なお、制御部201は、FPGA(フィールドプログラマブルゲートアレイ)、DSP(デジタルシグナルプロセッサ)、又はASIC(特定用途向け集積回路)等を含んでもよい。
記憶部202は、例えば、RAM(ランダムアクセスメモリ)、ROM(読み出し専用メモリ)、HDD(ハードディスクドライブ)及びSSD(ソリッドステートドライブ)等の、1つ以上の記憶装置(メモリ)を含む。
MCSは、Modulation and Coding Schemeの略語であり、SNRは、Signal to Noise Ratioの略語である。
なお、GPSに代えて、GNSS(Global Navigation Satellite System)のうちの他の衛星測位システムが利用されてもよい。
また、NMEA(National Marine Electronics Association)-0183形式等での情報出力や、必要に応じてデータ記憶部303へ現在位置や時刻の保存処理等を実施する。
