移動通信ネットワークの基地局装置は、無線デバイスと、前記移動通信ネットワークの外部のデータネットワークに接続する第1ネットワークノードと、の間の前記基地局装置を介するコネクションを設定する様に構成された設定手段と、第2ネットワークノードから前記コネクションのうちの前記基地局装置と前記第1ネットワークノードとの間の第1区間を、前記基地局装置と前記データネットワークに接続する第3ネットワークノードとの間の第2区間に変更することの通知を受信したことに応答して、前記第1区間を前記第2区間に変更する変更処理を行う様に構成された処理手段と、を備えている。

Description

移動通信ネットワークの基地局装置及びネットワークノード
 本開示は、移動通信ネットワークの基地局装置及びネットワークノードに関する。
 第3世代パートナシッププロジェクト(3GPP(登録商標))によって規定される第5世代(5G)の移動通信ネットワークにおいて、無線デバイス(WD)は、基地局装置(gNB)及び1つ以上のユーザプレーン機能(UPF)を介して、インターネット等のデータネットワーク(DN)上のサーバ装置と通信する。UPFは、移動通信ネットワークのコアネットワーク内のネットワークノードに実装されるネットワーク機能(NF)の1つであり、DNに接続するUPFは、アンカUPFと呼ばれ、gNBとアンカUPFとの間にあるUPFは、中間UPFと呼ばれる。
 ユーザパケットをWDとアンカUPFとの間で伝送するため、移動通信ネットワークは、WDとアンカUPFとの間でPDUセッションを設定する。PDUセッションとは、WDとアンカUPFとを接続する"コネクション"であり、gNBとWDとの間の無線区間と、gNBとアンカUPFとの間のN3区間と、を含む。なお、N3とは、gNBとアンカUPFとの間のインタフェース名である。N3区間は、所謂、汎用パケット無線システム(GPRS)トンネリングプロトコル(GTP)トンネルで構成され、ユーザパケットは、GTPパケットでカプセル化されて搬送される。以下の説明において、アンカUPFとの間でPDUセッションを設定しているWDを、"アンカUPFが収容しているWD(又は、アンカUPFに収容されているWD)"とも表記する。
 非特許文献1は、PDUセッションのアンカUPFを変更するための2つの構成を開示している。なお、非特許文献1においては、PDUセッションのアンカUPFを変更するための2つの構成のうちの一方をセッション及びサービス継続性(SSC)モード2と呼び、他方をSSCモード3と呼んでいる。非特許文献1によると、SSCモード2及びSSCモード3の両方において、WDと変更後のアンカUPFとの間で新しいPDUセッションを確立し、WDと変更前のアンカUPFとの間の元のPDUセッションについては削除している。

 ネットワーク機能仮想化技術(NFV)により、UPFは、汎用のコンピュータ上に実現され得る。また、NFVにより、UPFの負荷に応じてコンピュータ上に実現するUPF(UPFインスタンス)の数を制御することも可能となっている。例えば、第1アンカUPFの負荷が高くなり過ぎると、第2アンカUPFを立ち上げて、第1アンカUPFに収容されているWDの内の一部を第2アンカUPFに移すこと(収容替えすること)が可能になる。また、第2アンカUPFの負荷が低くなり過ぎると、第2アンカUPFに収容されている総てのWDを他のアンカUPFに移した後、第2アンカUPFを削除することも可能になる。
 この様な場合、PDUセッションのうちのWDとgNBとの間の無線区間はそのままに、gNBとアンカUPFとの間のN3区間のみを変更することで、WDが通信で使用するアドレス、例えば、インターネットプロトコル(IP)アドレスを変更することなくアンカUPFを変更することができる。しかしながら、非特許文献1では、アンカUPFを変更する場合には新たなPDUセッションを作成しており、N3区間のみを変更する手順は定義されていない。
 本開示の一態様によると、移動通信ネットワークの基地局装置は、無線デバイスと、前記移動通信ネットワークの外部のデータネットワークに接続する第1ネットワークノードと、の間の前記基地局装置を介するコネクションを設定する様に構成された設定手段と、第2ネットワークノードから前記コネクションのうちの前記基地局装置と前記第1ネットワークノードとの間の第1区間を、前記基地局装置と前記データネットワークに接続する第3ネットワークノードとの間の第2区間に変更することの通知を受信したことに応答して、前記第1区間を前記第2区間に変更する変更処理を行う様に構成された処理手段と、を備えている。
 本発明のその他の特徴及び利点は、添付図面を参照とした以下の説明により明らかになるであろう。なお、添付図面においては、同じ若しくは同様の構成には、同じ参照番号を付す。

 以下、添付図面を参照して実施形態を詳しく説明する。なお、以下の実施形態は特許請求の範囲に係る発明を限定するものではなく、また実施形態で説明されている特徴の組み合わせの全てが発明に必須のものとは限らない。実施形態で説明されている複数の特徴のうち二つ以上の特徴が任意に組み合わされてもよい。また、同一若しくは同様の構成には同一の参照番号を付し、重複した説明は省略する。
 なお、以下では3GPP(登録商標)が規定する5Gの移動通信ネットワークで使用されている用語を使用して実施形態の説明を行う。しかしながら、以下に開示する内容は、5Gとは異なる世代の移動通信ネットワークに対しても適用され得る。例えば、5GにおけるアンカUPFは、第4世代(4G)におけるパケットデータネットワークゲートウェイ(PGW)に対応する。また、5GにおけるPDUセッション、つまり、WDとアンカUPFとを接続するコネクションは、4Gのベアラに対応する。
 図1は、実施形態の説明に使用する移動通信システムの構成図である。移動通信システムは、移動通信ネットワークと、移動通信ネットワークのgNB2に接続する1つ以上のWD1と、移動通信ネットワークのコアネットワーク3に接続するDN9と、を含む。移動通信ネットワークは、コアネットワーク3と、コアネットワーク3に接続する複数のgNB2と、を含む。DN9は、例えば、インターネットである。
 コアネットワーク3は、様々なネットワーク機能(NF)を備えている。図1に示すアクセス及びモビリティ管理機能(AMF)4、セッション管理機能(SMF)5、UPF6及びコントローラ7は、コアネットワーク3が備える複数のNFの一部である。NFは、NFVに基づき汎用コンピュータ上のインスタンスとして実現され得る。AMF4は、WD1のモビリティを管理する機能を有する。SMF5は、WD1に対するPDUセッションの設定・削除等、PDUセッションを管理する機能を有する。
 UPF6は、WD1との間で設定されているPDUセッションを介してWD1から受信するユーザパケットをDN9に転送し、かつ、DN9から受信するWD1宛のユーザパケットを当該WD1とのPDUセッションを介して当該WD1に転送する機能を有する。上述した様に、WD1とUPF6との間で設定されるPDUセッションのうち、gNB2とUPF6との間の区間はN3区間として参照される。
 UPF6がユーザパケットを処理するための規則(処理ルール)は、SMF5によってUPF6に設定される。処理ルールは、検出するユーザパケットを示すパケット検出ルール(PDR)や、PDRにより検出されたユーザパケットの転送処理方法を示す転送アクションルール(FAR)等を含む。UPF6は、PDRに基づき検出したパケットを当該PDRに関連付けられたFARに従い転送する。
 PDUセッションのN3区間において、ユーザパケットはGTPトンネルを介して伝送される。GTPトンネルには、各端部それぞれにトンネル終端点識別子(TEID)が設定される。以下の説明においてはgNB2側のTEIDをTEID#1と表記し、UPF6側のTEIDをTEID#2と表記する。TEID#1は、UPF6からgNB2への方向のGTPトンネルの識別子でもあり、TEID#2は、gNB2からUPF6への方向のGTPトンネルの識別子でもある。つまり、TEID#1は、UPF6が送信するGTPパケットのヘッダに宛先として設定され、TEID#2は、gNB2が送信するGTPパケットのヘッダに宛先として設定される。UPF6は、受信するGTPパケットのヘッダに設定されたTEID#2に基づき、どのPDUセッションのパケットであるかを判定できる。同様に。gNB2は、受信するGTPパケットのヘッダに設定されたTEID#1に基づき、どのPDUセッションのパケットであるかを判定できる。
 コントローラ7は、NFVに基づくUPF6の追加/削除を行う機能と、ゲートウェイ(GW)8におけるルーティングを制御する機能と、を有する。コントローラ7は、UPF6の処理負荷が高くなり過ぎると、新たなUPF6を立ち上げて、処理負荷が高くなり過ぎたUPF6に収容されているWD1の一部を新たに立ち上げたUPF6に移設するUPF追加処理をトリガする。図2は、UPF追加処理の説明図である。
 図2の上側において、2つのWD1(WD#1及びWD#2と表記する)が、gNB2を介してUPF6(UPF#1と表記する)との間でPDUセッションを設定している。なお、UPF#1は、WD#1及びWD#2以外の多くのWD1ともPDUセッションを設定しており、UPF#1の処理負荷が高くなり過ぎているものとする。この場合、コントローラ7は、新しくUPF#2を追加し、UPF#1が収容している一部のWD1をUPF#2に移すことでUPF#1の処理負荷を抑える。図2においては、その下側に示す様に、WD#1は、依然、UPF#1に収容されているが、WD#2は、UPF#2に収容替えされている。この際、本実施形態では、gNB2とUPF6との間のN3区間のみを切り替える(変更する)ことでWD1の収容替えを行う。図2の下側のgNB2とUPF#1との間の破線は、収容替えを行う前のWD#2のPDUセッションのN3区間を示し、gNB2とUPF#2との間の実線は、収容替えを行った後のWD#2のPDUセッションのN3区間を示している。
 なお、WD#2をUPF#1からUPF#2に収容替えしたことにより、DN9から受信するWD#2宛のユーザパケットについては、UPF#2が受信する様にルーティングしなければならない。図2には示していないが、GW8は、WD1に向かうパケットを適切なUPF6にルーティングする機能を有する。本実施形態において、GW8におけるルーティングは、コントローラ7によって制御される。しかしながら、コントローラ7が他の装置に必要なルーティング情報を通知し、当該装置がGW8におけるルーティングを制御する構成であっても良い。例えば、1つのコンピュータに複数のUPFインスタンスが実装されている場合、GW8は、当該1つのコンピュータ内に実装される機能である。また、複数のコンピュータそれぞれに1つのUPFインスタンスが実装されている場合、GW8は、当該複数のコンピュータそれぞれに接続する別のコンピュータに実装される。さらに、複数のコンピュータそれぞれに複数のUPFインスタンスが実装されている場合、GW8は、当該複数のコンピュータそれぞれと、当該複数のコンピュータそれぞれに接続する別のコンピュータとに分散して実装される。
 コントローラ7は、処理負荷が低くなり過ぎたUPF6が生じた場合には当該UPF6に収容されている総てのUPF6を他のUPF6に移して、当該UPF6を削除するUPF削除処理をトリガする。例えば、図2の下側において、UPF#2の処理負荷が低くなり過ぎているものとする。この場合、コントローラ7は、UPF#2に収容されている総てのWD1を他のUPF6に収容替えしてUPF#2を削除する。例えば、WD#2をUPF#1に収容替えしたものとすると、収容替え後の構成は、図2の上側の様になる。この際も、WD1の収容替えは、N3区間の変更のみで実行される。また、コントローラ7は、DN9から受信するWD#2宛のユーザパケットがUPF#1にルーティングされる様にGW8を制御する。
 コントローラ7は、UPF6の処理負荷が第1トリガ条件を満たすとUPF追加処理をトリガし、UPF6の処理負荷が第2トリガ条件を満たすとUPF削除処理をトリガする。なお、UPF追加処理及びUPF削除処理は、共に、追加したUPF6に収容されているWD1や、削除するUPF6に収容されているWD1を収容替えするためのN3区間の変更処理を伴う。
 本実施形態においては、UPF6の処理負荷を、UPF6が処理するトラフィック量で評価する。このため、コントローラ7は、UPF6から、当該UPF6が設定している各PDUセッションのトラフィック量を周期的に取得する。なお、1つのPDUセッションのトラフィック量は、例えば、下り方向、つまり、WD1に向けて送信されるトラフィック量であり得る。また、1つのPDUセッションのトラフィック量は、例えば、上り方向、つまり、WD1から受信するトラフィック量であり得る。さらに、1つのPDUセッションのトラフィック量は、下り方向及び上り方向それぞれのトラフィック量を加算した値であり得る。さらに、1つのPDUセッションのトラフィック量は、下り方向及び上り方向それぞれのトラフィック量を重み付け加算した値であり得る。
 コントローラ7は、UPF6それぞれについて、UPF6が設定しているPDUセッションのトラフィック量の合計値を求める。そして、合計値が第1閾値を超えたUPF6が生じると、コントローラ7は、第1トリガ条件が満たされたと判定してUPF追加処理をトリガする。また、合計値が第2閾値を下回るUPF6が生じると、コントローラ7は、第2トリガ条件が満たされたと判定してUPF削除処理をトリガする。ここで、第2閾値は第1閾値より小さい。なお、本実施形態では、第1トリガ条件及び第2トリガ条件をUPF6が処理するトラフィック量に基づく条件とするが、UPF6の処理負荷に相関するパラメータに基づく条件、例えば、UPF6での処理のためのプロセッサの使用率等を使用した条件とすることもできる。この場合、プロセッサの使用率が第1閾値を超えると第1トリガ条件が満たされ、プロセッサの使用率が第2閾値を下回ると第2トリガ条件が満たされることになる。
 図3は、本実施形態における、UPF6の追加に伴うN3区間の変更処理のシーケンスを示している。S1において、コントローラ7は、UPF#1のトラフィック量の合計値が第1トリガ条件を満たしたことを検出する。トリガ検出に応答して、コントローラ7は、UPF追加処理をトリガする。UPF追加処理をトリガすることにより、N3区間の変更処理もトリガされる。S2において、コントローラ7は、新たなUPF#2の立ち上げ処理を実行する。UPF#2の立ち上げ処理は、コンピュータ上でUPF#2のインスタンスを起動させる処理と、UPF#2を利用可能とするために必要な処理と、を含む。UPF#2を利用可能とするために必要な処理は、UPF#2を識別するための識別子をUPF#2に割り当てる処理や、SMF5及びUPF#2にアソシエーションを確立させる処理等を含み得る。なお、UPF#2の識別子は、UPF#2のIPアドレスなど、UPF#2との通信においてUPF#2を示すアドレス情報とすることができる。
 S3において、コントローラ7は、UPF#1が収容しているWD1のうち、UPF#2に収容替えするWD1を判定する。つまり、コントローラ7は、UPF#1が設定しているPDUセッションの内、UPF#2に移行させるPDUセッションを判定する。コントローラ7は、UPF#1が設定しているPDUセッションの一部をUPF#2に移行させることで、UPF#1のトラフィック量の合計値が第1トリガ条件を満たさなくなるようにUPF#2に移行させるPDUセッションを決定する。本実施形態において、コントローラ7は、移行後のUPF#1のトラフィック量の合計値が、移行前の略半分となる様に、UPF#2に移行させるPDUセッションを決定する。一例として、コントローラ7は、UPF#1が設定している各PDUセッションのトラフィック量の降順で各PDUセッションをソートし、奇数順位と偶数順位の内の一方をUPF#1に残し、他方をUPF#2に移行させると判定し得る。以下の説明において、UPF#2に移行させるPDUセッションを対象PDUセッションと表記する。また、対象PDUセッションを使用しているWD1を対象WD1とも表記する。
 コントローラ7は、S4で、PDUセッションの収容替えをSMF5に通知する。この通知は、対象PDUセッションのN3区間の変更通知でもある。この通知は、対象PDUセッションを示す情報、例えば、対象PDUセッションの識別子と、その移設先であるUPF#2の識別子と、を含む。
 S5以降の処理は、対象PDUセッションそれぞれに対して実行される。つまり、S5以降の処理は、1つの対象PDUセッションに対するシーケンスを示している。SMF5は、S5において、対象PDUセッションのN3区間を終端しているgNB2にN3区間の変更を通知する。当該通知は、対象PDUセッションの識別子と、その移設先であるUPF#2の識別子と、を含む。UPF#2の識別子は、UPF#2と通信するためのUPF#2のIPアドレスといった、UPF#2のアドレス情報であり得る。S6において、gNB2は、S5での通知の応答として、N3区間の変更後にgNB2の受信側で使用するTEID#1をSMF5に通知する。
 SMF5は、gNB2からTEID#1を受信すると、N3区間の変更後にUPF#2の受信側で使用するTEID#2を決定し、gNB2から受信したTEID#1と、SMF5が決定したTEID#2とに基づき対象PDUセッションに対する処理ルールを生成する。そして、SMF5は、S7において、UPF#2に対してN3区間の設定を指示する。当該指示は、対象PDUセッションに対して生成した処理ルールを含む。なお、処理ルールは、基本的には、UPF#1が対象PDUセッションに対して使用していたものと同様であるが、TEID#1及びTEID#2の値は、N3区間の変更に応じて変更される。
 また、SMF5は、S8において、N3区間の変更をgNB2に指示する。当該指示は、対象PDUセッションの識別子と、N3区間の変更後にUPF#2の受信側で使用するTEID#2を示す情報を含み得る。続いて、S9において、SMF5は、UPF#1に対象PDUセッションのN3区間の削除を指示する。さらに、SMF5は、S10で、コントローラ7に収容替えの完了を通知する。当該通知は、収容替えが完了した対象PDUセッションの識別子を含む。コントローラ7は、収容替えが完了した対象PDUセッション上で搬送するユーザパケットがUPF#2にルーティングされる様に、S11でGW8の制御を行う。これにより、gNB2は、対象PDUセッションを使用するWD1から受信したユーザパケットをUPF#2に送信する。また、UPF#2は、対象PDUセッションを使用するWD1宛のユーザパケットを当該対象PDUセッション上に送信する。
 図4は、本実施形態における、UPF6の削除に伴うN3区間の変更処理のシーケンスを示している。S20において、コントローラ7は、UPF#2のトラフィック量の合計値が第2トリガ条件を満たしたことを検出する。トリガ検出に応答して、コントローラ7は、UPF削除処理をトリガする。UPF削除処理をトリガすることにより、N3区間の変更処理もトリガされる。UPF削除処理の場合、第2トリガ条件を満たしたUPF#2に設定されている総てのPDUセッションが対象PDUセッションとなる。S21において、コントローラ7は、対象PDUセッションの移設先(変更先)のUPF6を決定する。なお、コントローラ7は、対象PDUセッションの移設により、移設先のUPF6が第1トリガ条件を満たすこととならない様に移設先のUPF6を決定する。対象PDUセッションの移設によりいずれかのUPF6が第1トリガ条件を満たすことになる場合、コントローラ7は、N3区間の変更処理をペンディングする。
 第1トリガ条件を満たすことになるUPF6が生じない様に対象PDUセッションを移設できる場合、コントローラ7は、S22で、PDUセッションの収容替えをSMF5に通知する。この通知は、対象PDUセッションのN3区間の変更通知でもある。この通知は、対象PDUセッションを示す情報、例えば、対象PDUセッションの識別子と、その移設先のUPF6の識別子と、を含む。以下の説明では、UPF#2が設定している総てのPDUセッションをUPF#1に移すものとして説明する。
 S23~S28までの処理は、対象PDUセッションそれぞれに対して実行される。つまり、S23~S28までの処理は、1つの対象PDUセッションに対するシーケンスを示している。SMF5は、S23において、対象PDUセッションのN3区間を終端しているgNB2にN3区間の変更を通知する。当該通知は、対象PDUセッションの識別子と、その移設先であるUPF#1の識別子と、を含む。UPF#1の識別子は、UPF#1と通信するためのUPF#1のIPアドレスといった、UPF#1のアドレス情報であり得る。S24において、gNB2は、S23での通知の応答として、N3区間の変更後にgNB2の受信側で使用するTEID#1をSMF5に通知する。
 SMF5は、gNB2からTEID#1を受信すると、N3区間の変更後にUPF#1の受信側で使用するTEID#2を決定し、gNB2から受信したTEID#1と、SMF5が決定したTEID#2とに基づき対象PDUセッションに対する処理ルールを生成する。そして、SMF5は、S25において、UPF#1に対してN3区間の設定を指示する。当該指示は、対象PDUセッションに対して生成した処理ルールを含む。処理ルールは、gNB2から受信したTEID#1と、SMF5が決定したTEID#2とを示す情報を含む。なお、処理ルールは、基本的には、UPF#2が対象PDUセッションに対して使用していたものと同様であるが、TEID#1及びTEID#2の値は、N3区間の変更に応じて変更される。
 また、SMF5は、S26において、N3区間の変更をgNB2に指示する。当該指示は、対象PDUセッションの識別子と、N3区間の変更後にUPF#1の受信側で使用するTEID#2を示す情報を含み得る。さらに、SMF5は、S27で、コントローラ7に収容替えの完了を通知する。当該通知は、収容替えが完了した対象PDUセッションの識別子を含む。コントローラ7は、収容替えが完了した対象PDUセッション上で搬送するユーザパケットがUPF#1にルーティングされる様に、S28でGW8の制御を行う。これにより、gNB2は、対象PDUセッションを使用するWD1から受信したユーザパケットをUPF#1に送信する。また、UPF#1は、対象PDUセッションを使用するWD1宛のユーザパケットを当該対象PDUセッション上に送信する。コントローラ7は、対象PDUセッションの総ての収容替えが完了すると、S29でUPF#2を削除する処理を行う。
 以上、本実施形態によると、N3区間のみを変更することでアンカUPFを変更することができる。特に、本実施形態では、WD1がDN9上のサーバ装置等との通信で使用するWD1のアドレス、例えば、IPアドレスを変更することなくアンカUPFを変更することができる。なお、WD1のアドレスを変更しないことは必須ではなく、N3区間の変更に応じて、SMFが新たなIPアドレスなどをWD1に割り当てても良い。この場合、WD1の新たなアドレスは、例えば、図3のS8や図4のS26において、gNB2を介してWD1に通知され得る。
 <第二実施形態>
 続いて、第二実施形態について、第一実施形態との相違点を中心に説明する。第一実施形態において、SMF5は、図3のS5、S6及びS8、並びに、図4のS23、S24及びS26においてgNB2と直接通信を行っていた。本実施形態においてSMF5とgNB2は、通常のPDUセッションの設定処理と同様に、AMF4を介して通信する。つまり、図3のS5、S6及びS8、並びに、図4のS23、S24及びS26の処理は、AMF4を介して実行される。本実施形態では、SMF5とgNB2との間の新たなインタフェースを定義する必要がなく、既に定義されているインタフェースにおいて使用されているメッセージの修正のみでN3区間の変更を実現することができる。
 <第三実施形態>
 続いて、第三実施形態について、第一実施形態との相違点を中心に説明する。図5は、本実施形態におけるUPFの追加を伴うN3区間の変更処理のシーケンス図であり、図6は、本実施形態におけるUPFの削除を伴うN3区間の変更処理のシーケンス図である。なお、図3及び図4と同様の処理ステップについては同じステップ番号を付与し、その詳細な悦明については省略する。
 UPFの追加の場合、S3において、コントローラ7がUPF#2に移行させるWD1を判定すると、その後のシーケンスは対象PDUセッションそれぞれに対して実行される。つまり、S30以降の処理は、1つの対象PDUセッションに対するシーケンスを示している。コントローラ7は、S30において、対象PDUセッションのN3区間を終端しているgNB2にN3区間の変更を通知する。当該通知は、対象PDUセッションの識別子と、その移設先であるUPF#2の識別子と、を含む。S31において、gNB2は、S30での通知の応答として、N3区間の変更後にgNB2の受信側で使用するTEID#1をコントローラ7に通知する。
 コントローラ7は、gNB2からTEID#1を受信すると、S32において、PDUセッションの収容替えをSMF5に通知する。当該通知は、対象PDUセッションの識別子と、その移設先であるUPF#2の識別子と、S31でgNB2から受信したTEID#1を示す情報と、を含む。その後の処理は、第一実施形態と同様である。
 UPFの削除の場合、S40~S28までの処理は、1つの対象PDUセッションに対するシーケンスとなる。コントローラ7は、S40において、対象PDUセッションのN3区間を終端しているgNB2にN3区間の変更を通知する。当該通知は、対象PDUセッションの識別子と、その移設先であるUPF#1の識別子と、を含む。S41において、gNB2は、S40での通知の応答として、N3区間の変更後にgNB2の受信側で使用するTEID#1をコントローラ7に通知する。
 コントローラ7は、gNB2からTEID#1を受信すると、S42において、PDUセッションの収容替えをSMF5に通知する。当該通知は、対象PDUセッションの識別子と、その移設先であるUPF#1の識別子と、S41でgNB2から受信したTEID#1を示す情報と、を含む。その後の処理は、第一実施形態と同様である。
 以上、本実施形態においても、N3区間のみを変更することでアンカUPFを切り替えることができる。
 <装置構成>
 図7は、上述した各実施形態においてgNB2と例示した基地局装置20の構成例である。基地局装置20は、例えば、1つ以上のプロセッサと、1つ以上のメモリデバイスと、を有する。1つ以上のメモリデバイスは、揮発性のメモリデバイスと不揮発性のメモリデバイスとを含み得る。1つ以上のメモリデバイスが格納しているコンピュータプログラムを1つ以上のプロセッサが実行することで、図7に示す各機能ブロックが実現され得る。また、基地局装置20は、単一の装置で実現され得る。或いは、基地局装置20は、相互に通信可能な複数の装置で実現され得る。一例として、基地局装置20は、地理的に異なる位置に配置され得る無線ユニット(RU)、分散ユニット(DU)及び中央ユニット(CU)で構成され得る。さらに、CUは、制御プレーンのCU-CPと、ユーザプレーンのCU-UPに分離され得る。なお、CUをCU-CPとCU-UPに分離した構成の場合、図3~図6のシーケンスにおいて、コアネットワークのAMF6、SMF5、コントローラ7等と通信するのは、CU-CPとなる。したがって、図3~図6のシーケンスにおけるgNB2については、CU-CPと読み替えることもできる。なお、図7は、本開示の理解に必要な機能ブロックのみを示すものであり、基地局装置20は、図7に示す以外の機能ブロックを有し得る。
 無線通信部24は、WD1との無線通信処理を行う。通信部21は、コアネットワークのNFとの通信処理を行う。設定部22は、WD1と第1ネットワークノードとの間の基地局装置20を介するコネクションを設定する。第1ネットワークノードは、UPF6を実装するノードであり得る。コネクションは、例えば、5GのPDUセッションであり得る。コネクションは、WD1との間の無線区間と、第1ネットワークノードとの間のN3区間を含み、第1ネットワークノードは外部のDN9に接続している。処理部23は、第2ネットワークノードからコネクションのN3区間(第1区間)を、DN9に接続する第3ネットワークノードとの間の他のN3区間(第2区間)に変更することの通知を受信したことに応答してN3区間の変更処理を行う。第3ネットワークノードは、他のUPF6を実装するノードであり得る。
 第一実施形態において、第2ネットワークノードは、SMF5を実装するノードであり、第二実施形態において、第2ネットワークノードは、AMF4を実装するノードであり、第三実施形態において、第2ネットワークノードは、コントローラ7を実装するノードである。
 処理部23は、変更処理において、変更後のN3区間、つまり、第2区間の基地局装置20側の端部の第1識別子(TEID#1)を決定して第2ネットワークノードに通知し、第2区間の第3ネットワークノード側の端部の第2識別子(TEID#2)を、SMF5又はAMF4を実装するノードから受信し得る。
 図8は、上述したSMF5を実装するネットワークノード50の構成例である。ネットワークノード50は、例えば、1つ以上のプロセッサと、1つ以上のメモリデバイスと、を有する。1つ以上のメモリデバイスは、揮発性のメモリデバイスと不揮発性のメモリデバイスとを含み得る。1つ以上のメモリデバイスが格納しているコンピュータプログラムを1つ以上のプロセッサが実行することで、図8に示す各機能ブロックが実現され得る。また、ネットワークノード50は、単一の装置で実現され得る。或いは、ネットワークノード50は、相互に通信可能な複数の装置で実現され得る。なお、図8は、本開示の理解に必要な機能ブロックのみを示すものであり、ネットワークノード50は、図8に示す以外の機能ブロックを有し得る。
 通信部53は、移動通信ネットワークのNFとの通信処理を行う。移動通信ネットワークのNFは、AMF4、コントローラ7及びgNB2を含み得る。管理部51は、WD1と、DN9に接続する第1ネットワークノードと、の間のgNB2を介するコネクションを管理する。第1ネットワークノードは、UPF6を実装するノードであり得る。処理部52は、第2ネットワークノードからコネクションのうちのgNB2と第1ネットワークノードとの間の第1区間(N3区間)を、gNB2とDN9に接続する第3ネットワークノードとの間の第2区間(N3区間)に変更することの通知を受信したことに応答して、第1区間を第2区間に変更する変更処理を行う。第2ネットワークノードは、第1ネットワークノードの負荷を監視する機能を実装するノード、例えば、上記各実施形態のコントローラ7であり得る。第3ネットワークノードは、他のUPF6を実装するノードであり得る。
 処理部52は、変更処理において、第2区間のgNB2側の第1識別子(TEID#1)をgNB2、AMF4又は第2ネットワークノードから受信し、第2区間の第3ネットワークノード側の第2識別子(TEID#2)を決定し、第1識別子及び第2識別子を第3ネットワークノードに直接又はAMF4を介して通知し得る。
 図9は、上述したコントローラ7を実装するネットワークノード70の構成例である。ネットワークノード70は、例えば、1つ以上のプロセッサと、1つ以上のメモリデバイスと、を有する。1つ以上のメモリデバイスは、揮発性のメモリデバイスと不揮発性のメモリデバイスとを含み得る。1つ以上のメモリデバイスが格納しているコンピュータプログラムを1つ以上のプロセッサが実行することで、図9に示す各機能ブロックが実現され得る。また、ネットワークノード70は、単一の装置で実現され得る。或いは、ネットワークノード70は、相互に通信可能な複数の装置で実現され得る。なお、図9は、本開示の理解に必要な機能ブロックのみを示すものであり、ネットワークノード70は、図9に示す以外の機能ブロックを有し得る。
 通信部75は、移動通信ネットワークのNFとの通信処理を行う。監視部71は、DN9に接続し、1つ以上のWD1を収容する第1ネットワークノードの処理負荷を監視する。第1ネットワークノードは、1つ以上のWD1それぞれとの間でgNB2を介するコネクションを設定する機能を有する。第1ネットワークノードは、UPF6を実装するノードであり得る。
 決定部72は、第1ネットワークノードの処理負荷に基づき第1ネットワークノードが収容している1つ以上のWD1の内の対象WD1をDN9に接続する第2ネットワークノードに収容替えすると決定する。第2ネットワークノードは、UPF6を実装するノードであり得る。
 トリガ部73は、決定部72が対象WD1を第2ネットワークノードに収容替えすると決定したことに応答して、対象WD1と第1ネットワークノードの間で第1のgNB2を介して設定されている第1コネクションのうちの第1のgNB2と第1ネットワークノードとの間の第1区間(N3区間)を、第1のgNB2と第2ネットワークノードとの間の第2区間(N3区間)に変更する変更処理をトリガする。
 トリガ部73は、第1コネクション及び第2ネットワークノードを示す情報を、SMF5を実装するノードに通知し得る。トリガ部73は、変更処理において、第2区間の第1のgNB2側の第1識別子(TEID#1)を第1のgNB2から受信してSMF5を実装するノードに通知し得る。
 決定部72は、第1ネットワークノードの負荷が第1閾値より大きくなったことで対象WD1を第2ネットワークノードに収容替えすると決定した場合、第1ネットワークノードの負荷が第1閾値より小さくなる様に対象WD1を決定し、第1ネットワークノードの負荷が第2閾値より小さくなったことで対象WD1を第2ネットワークノードに収容替えすると決定した場合、第1ネットワークノードが収容している1つ以上のWD1の総てを対象WD1に決定し得る。ここで、第2閾値は、第1閾値より小さい値である。なお、監視部71は、第1ネットワークノードが1つ以上のWD1との間で設定しているコネクションのトラフィック量の合計を第1ネットワークノードの処理負荷として監視し得る。
 制御部74は、DN9からのユーザパケットが適切なUPF6にルーティングされる様にGW8を制御する。
 なお、本開示によると、1つ以上のプロセッサを有する装置の当該1つ以上のプロセッサで実行されると、当該装置を上述した基地局装置20、ネットワークノード50、ネットワーク70として機能させるコンピュータプログラムや、当該コンピュータプログラムを格納したコンピュータ可読記憶媒体が提供される。さらに、本開示によると、各実施形態で説明した処理に関して基地局装置20、ネットワークノード50、ネットワーク70が実行する方法や、これら方法を1つ以上のプロセッサを有する装置に実行させるコンピュータプログラムや、当該コンピュータプログラムを格納したコンピュータ可読記憶媒体が提供される。
 発明は上記の実施形態に制限されるものではなく、発明の要旨の範囲内で、種々の変形・変更が可能である。
 本願は、2024年3月5日提出の日本国特許出願特願2024-033176を基礎として優先権を主張するものであり、その記載内容の全てを、ここに援用する。

Claims (15)

  1.  移動通信ネットワークの基地局装置であって、
     無線デバイスと、前記移動通信ネットワークの外部のデータネットワークに接続する第1ネットワークノードと、の間の前記基地局装置を介するコネクションを設定する様に構成された設定手段と、
     第2ネットワークノードから前記コネクションのうちの前記基地局装置と前記第1ネットワークノードとの間の第1区間を、前記基地局装置と前記データネットワークに接続する第3ネットワークノードとの間の第2区間に変更することの通知を受信したことに応答して、前記第1区間を前記第2区間に変更する変更処理を行う様に構成された処理手段と、
    を備えている基地局装置。
  2.  前記第2ネットワークノードは、セッション管理機能(SMF)を実装するノード、アクセス及びモビリティ管理機能(AMF)を実装するノード、又は、前記第1ネットワークノードの負荷を監視する機能を実装するノードである、請求項1に記載の基地局装置。
  3.  前記第1ネットワークノード及び前記第3ネットワークノードは、ユーザプレーン機能(UPF)を実装するノードである、請求項1又は2に記載の基地局装置。
  4.  前記処理手段は、前記変更処理において、前記第2区間の前記基地局装置側の端部の第1識別子を決定して前記第2ネットワークノードに通知し、前記第2区間の前記第3ネットワークノード側の端部の第2識別子を、セッション管理機能(SMF)又はアクセス及びモビリティ管理機能(AMF)を実装するノードから受信する様に構成される、請求項3に記載の基地局装置。
  5.  移動通信ネットワークのネットワークノードであって、
     無線デバイスと、前記移動通信ネットワークの外部のデータネットワークに接続する第1ネットワークノードと、の間の基地局装置を介するコネクションを管理する様に構成された管理手段と、
     第2ネットワークノードから前記コネクションのうちの前記基地局装置と前記第1ネットワークノードとの間の第1区間を、前記基地局装置と前記データネットワークに接続する第3ネットワークノードとの間の第2区間に変更することの通知を受信したことに応答して、前記第1区間を前記第2区間に変更する変更処理を行う様に構成された処理手段と、
    を備えているネットワークノード。
  6.  前記第2ネットワークノードは、前記第1ネットワークノードの負荷を監視する機能を実装するノードである、請求項5に記載のネットワークノード。
  7.  前記第1ネットワークノード及び前記第3ネットワークノードは、ユーザプレーン機能(UPF)を実装するノードである、請求項5又は6に記載のネットワークノード。
  8.  前記ネットワークノードは、セッション管理機能(SMF)を実装するノードである、請求項5から7のいずれか1項に記載のネットワークノード。
  9.  前記処理手段は、前記変更処理において、前記第2区間の前記基地局装置側の第1識別子を前記基地局装置、アクセス及びモビリティ管理機能(AMF)を実装するノード又は前記第2ネットワークノードから受信し、前記第2区間の前記第3ネットワークノード側の第2識別子を決定し、前記第1識別子及び前記第2識別子を前記第3ネットワークノードに通知する様に構成される、請求項5から8のいずれか1項に記載のネットワークノード。
  10.  移動通信ネットワークのネットワークノードであって、
     前記移動通信ネットワークの外部のデータネットワークに接続し、1つ以上の無線デバイスを収容する第1ネットワークノードであって、前記1つ以上の無線デバイスそれぞれとの間で基地局装置を介するコネクションを設定する前記第1ネットワークノードの負荷を監視する様に構成された監視手段と、
     前記第1ネットワークノードの負荷に基づき前記第1ネットワークノードが収容している前記1つ以上の無線デバイスの内の対象無線デバイスを前記データネットワークに接続する第2ネットワークノードに収容替えすると決定する様に構成された決定手段と、
     前記決定手段が前記対象無線デバイスを前記第2ネットワークノードに収容替えすると決定したことに応答して、前記対象無線デバイスと前記第1ネットワークノードの間で第1基地局装置を介して設定されている第1コネクションのうちの前記第1基地局装置と前記第1ネットワークノードとの間の第1区間を、前記第1基地局装置と前記第2ネットワークノードとの間の第2区間に変更する変更処理をトリガする様に構成されたトリガ手段と、
    を備えているネットワークノード。
  11.  前記第1ネットワークノード及び前記第2ネットワークノードは、ユーザプレーン機能(UPF)を実装するノードである、請求項10に記載のネットワークノード。
  12.  前記トリガ手段は、前記変更処理において、前記第1コネクション及び前記第2ネットワークノードを示す情報を、セッション管理機能(SMF)を実装するノードに通知する様に構成される、請求項10又は11に記載のネットワークノード。
  13.  前記トリガ手段は、前記変更処理において、前記第2区間の前記第1基地局装置側の第1識別子を前記第1基地局装置から受信して前記SMFに通知する様に構成される、請求項10から12のいずれか1項に記載のネットワークノード。
  14.  前記決定手段は、前記第1ネットワークノードの負荷が第1閾値より大きくなったことで前記対象無線デバイスを前記第2ネットワークノードに収容替えすると決定した場合、前記第1ネットワークノードの負荷が前記第1閾値より小さくなる様に前記対象無線デバイスを決定し、前記第1ネットワークノードの負荷が第2閾値より小さくなったことで前記対象無線デバイスを前記第2ネットワークノードに収容替えすると決定した場合、前記第1ネットワークノードが収容している前記1つ以上の無線デバイスの総てを前記対象無線デバイスに決定する様に構成され、
     前記第2閾値は前記第1閾値より小さい、請求項10から13のいずれか1項に記載のネットワークノード。
  15.  前記監視手段は、前記第1ネットワークノードが前記1つ以上の無線デバイスとの間で設定している前記コネクションのトラフィック量の合計を前記第1ネットワークノードの負荷として監視する様に構成される、請求項10から14のいずれか1項に記載のネットワークノード。
