Description

PRACTICAL AND SAFE COTTON TAPE PEN
Technical Field
The invention is related to the cotton tape pen used in the health sector in outpatient clinics and services, intensive care units, etc., where blood collection is performed.
In particular, the invention is related to a practical and safe cotton tape pen that enables the application of cotton and tape to the patient at the same time, without any contamination, after the invasive procedure.
The State of the Art
Practicality and protection from contamination are very important during the blood collection process, which is widely applied in health care. The blood coming from the patient can be the carrier of many infectious disease agents and even a small drop can be transmitted to the health worker by a work accident. At the same time, since blood collection is an invasive procedure, maintaining the sterility (cleanliness) of all materials used is the main principle of the practice.
In the present applications, cotton and tape are given to the patient separately as the blood collection process is terminated. However, the cotton applied to the patient's arm at the end of the procedure is not sterile because it often touches the table and the environment. In addition, in most health institutions, cotton is either in rolls on the table or open in pieces on the table. This puts patients at risk of developing an infection. At the same time, especially trainee students, nurses, or other health workers who have just started to work, can be alarmed by the stress of finding a vein, the excess of work, and the intensity of the patients while taking blood. Therefore, the application of tape to the area from which blood is drawn is often neglected. In addition, experienced nurses and healthcare professionals working in the field have difficulty in complying with patient and employee safety rules due to the intensity of their work and concern to save time, and they need more practical and safe blood collection techniques. Otherwise, the blood that is transmitted to the healthcare worker during the blood collection process from the patient may also be the carrier of an infectious disease agent.
The document numbered TR2016/16506 can be shown as an example of the state of the art in the research conducted in the literature. The said document is related to a device used for material supply in simple surgical procedures. In the said invention, an automatic device used for the supply of materials such as cotton and plaster tape in applications requiring simple surgical procedures such as blood collection and vascular access is mentioned. Said device is comprised of a cotton cutting unit, which has the feature of defining and changing the determined values by means of software, enables the pressed cotton to be pulled and cut in the specified dimensions, a tape cutting unit, which allows the tape to be pulled and cut in the specified dimensions, a peristaltic pump, which allows the disinfectant to be given outside the system in the desired dimensions, a liquid disinfectant tank that protects its effect by preventing volatile disinfectants from leaving the system, and a control panel that gives commands to the device. The said device is costly due to its complex structure.
As a result, the existence of the above problems and the insufficiency of the existing solutions made it necessary to make an improvement in the related technical field.

Another object of the invention is to provide a cotton tape pen that prevents the healthcare worker from facing malpractice with any contamination after the invasive procedure.
Another object of the invention is to provide a cotton tape pen that provides practical application of cotton and tape to the patient after blood collection, saving time and obtaining efficiency in the blood collection area.
Another object of the invention is to provide a cotton tape pen that prevents the risk of infection by not using open cotton in the blood collection process.
Another object of the invention is to provide a cotton tape pen that reduces the risk of blood contamination to the patient or the healthcare worker performing the blood collection procedure and eliminates the risk of transmission of the existing infection in the patient.
Another object of the invention is to provide a cotton tape pen that reduces the steps of blood collection and enables it to be carried out in a practical, regular and safe manner.
Another object of the invention is to provide a cotton tape pen that provides a comfortable application for the patient and the healthcare worker.
In order to achieve all the objectives stated above and which may arise from the detailed explanation, the invention is a cotton tape pen used after invasive procedures in outpatient clinics and services, intensive care units, etc. where blood collection is performed in the health field, comprising a cylindrical pen system comprising successive single-use sterile cotton and medical tape to be applied on the treated area after blood collection, a transparent chamber in which the pen system is placed, a spring system, which includes at least one large spring that applies forward thrust to the sterile cotton and medical tape in the pen system, a button on the chamber that enables the spring system to act

Detailed Description of the Invention
In this detailed description, preferred alternatives of the cotton tape pen of the invention are explained only for a better understanding of the subject and without any limiting effect.
Figure 1 shows the disassembled view of the cotton tape pen of the invention. Accordingly, the cotton tape pen, in its most basic form, comprises a pen system (10) in cylindrical form, in which there is a succession of sterile cotton (11) and medical tape (12), rubber frame (20) that prevents contamination by wrapping all around the treated area during the application of sterile cotton (11) and medical tape (12) placed successively around the pen system (10) and after the blood collection process, and at the same time increases the blood flow by applying compress to the procedure area, a transparent chamber (30) in which the pen system (10) is placed, the large spring (41) in the chamber (30) that exerts forward thrust on the sterile cotton (11) and medical tape (12) in the pen system (10) and spring system (40) with a small spring (42) applying thrust force in the forward direction to the frame (20), a key (50) located on the chamber (30) and enabling the spring system (40) to be driven, the cover (60) closed at the back surface of the chamber (30) and preventing the contact of sterile cotton (11) and medical tape (12) in the pen system (10) with air, an on-off button (70) that enables the cover (60) to be opened and closed, a scale (80) on the reservoir (30) showing the number of sterile cotton (11) and medical tape (12) in the pen system (10).
The pen system (10), which constitutes the main structure of the cotton tape pen of the invention is cylindrical, and disposable sterile cotton (11) and medical tape (12) are arranged successively in the same. There are 40 pieces of sterile cotton (11) and medical tape (12) in the said pen system (10), preferably to be applied to 40 patients. If the number of sterile cotton (11) and medical tape (12) is less than 40, the frequency of replacement of the pen system (10) may increase. If there are more than 40 sterile cotton (11) and medical tape (12), the ergonomics of holding the chamber (30) in hand may be impaired. Accordingly, an average of 40 sterile cottons (11) and medical tapes (12) are used.
The medical tape (12) is wide enough to adhere to the skin at least 1 cm around its entire circumference, with sterile cotton (11) in the middle. Sterile cotton (11) has been reduced to the standard size so that it is sufficient for the surface to be treated and unnecessary excessive use is reduced.
A disposable rubber frame (20) is successively arranged around the pen system (10). For each sterile cotton (11) and medical tape (12), there are a total of 40 rubber frames (20), and 1 rubber frame (20), around the pen system (10). The said frame (20) prevents contamination by wrapping all around the treated area of the patient during the application of sterile cotton (11) and medical tape (12) to the patient after blood collection and also stops the blood flow by applying a compress to the procedure area.
The pen system (10) is screwed into a cylindrical transparent chamber (30). A spring system (40) is placed inside the said chamber (30). The spring system (40) has a large spring (41) located in the middle and a small spring (42) on both sides of the large spring (41). The large spring (41) exerts forward thrust on the sterile cotton (11) and medical tape (12) in the pen system (10), and the small springs (42) exert forward thrust on the rubber frame (20) around the pen system (10). A button (50) is placed on the chamber (30) to drive the spring system (40), the large spring (41), and the small springs (42). When the button (50) is pressed after the patient’s blood has been drawn, the rubber frame (20) wraps around the treated area of the patient and applies compression to the treatment area with its lateral surface, and meanwhile, sterile cotton (11) and medical tape (12) are positioned and adhered to the treated area without touching.
A cover (60) is closed on the back surface of the chamber (30) as shown in Figure 2, which prevents the sterile cotton (11) and the medical tape (12) in the pen system (10) from contacting with air. When the on-off button (70) located on the chamber (10) and enables the cover (60) to be opened and closed is pressed, the cover (60) is removed.
On the transparent chamber (30), there is a scale (80) indicating the number of sterile cotton (11) and medical tape (12) in the pen system (10).
The use of the coton tape pen of the invention is as follows;
After the blood collection process, the cover (60) is opened by pressing the on-off button (70) for the use of the cotton tape pen and the chamber (30) is positioned on the treated area. By pressing the button (50) on the chamber (30), the spring system (40) is driven. With this drive, small springs (42) apply forward thrust to the rubber frame (20) around the pen system (10), and the rubber frame (20) wraps around the treated area of the patient and compresses the treatment area with its lateral surface. Thus, contamination is prevented by wrapping the treated area all around, and at the same time, blood flow is stopped by applying a compress to the treated area. However, the large spring (41) also applies a forward thrust to the sterile cotton (11) and medical tape (12), and the said sterile cotton (11) and medical tape (12) are positioned and adhered to the treated area without touching.
After the application is completed, the cover (60) is closed on the chamber (30) of the cotton tape pen and the contact of the sterile cotton (11) and the medical tape (12) in the pen system (10) with the air is prevented. In addition, the cotton tape pen can be positioned vertically so that the button (50) on the chamber (30) does not contaminate the sterile cotton (11) and medical tape (12) between uses, even when the cover (60) is not closed.
When the sterile cotton (11), medical tape (12), and frame (20) in the pen system (10) are exhausted, the empty pen system (10) is taken out of the chamber (30) and the filled pen system (10) is placed in the chamber (30) and its use is continued.
