木材及び木質材料用水性シロキサンコーティング組成物Water-based siloxane coating composition for wood and wood-based materials
The present invention relates to a coating composition for wood and wood-based materials, and more specifically to a water-based siloxane coating for wood and wood-based materials containing an aqueous siloxane compound having an amino group, an aqueous compound having a specific functional group, and an aqueous solvent. A composition for wood and wood materials that can achieve excellent penetration into wood and wood materials, protection, wood texture, and storage stability without using alcohol or using a reduced amount of alcohol. This invention relates to an aqueous siloxane coating composition for wood materials and its uses.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Wood and wood-based materials are often coated from the viewpoints of scratch prevention, waterproofing, stain resistance, etc., and various coating compositions that have excellent permeability and protection properties for wood and wood-based materials have been proposed. Some of these coating compositions contain volatile organic solvents such as alcohol from the viewpoint of permeability and storage stability. In view of the above considerations, there is a strong need for aqueous coating compositions that do not contain volatile organic solvents.
Various aqueous siloxane coating compositions containing amino groups or epoxy groups have been proposed as aqueous siloxane coating compositions that are substantially free of volatile organic solvents, and application to wood has also been suggested (e.g., cited in (See references 1 to 4). However, no experimental results or data have been reported to demonstrate its effectiveness in actual use in coating wood or wood-based materials, and therefore, formulation of a water-based siloxane coating composition suitable for coating wood or wood-based materials has not been reported. Even for those skilled in the art, the design guidelines were not clear.

The pH of the sample prepared as a coating composition in each Example/Comparative Example was measured using pH test paper (manufactured by MACHEREY-NAGEL).
Solid content/non-volatile content Samples prepared as coating compositions in each example/comparative example were dried at 105°C for 1 hour in accordance with the Japanese Industrial Standard JIS K5601-1-2 heating residue test method for paint components. The heating residue was measured.
Alcohol content The alcohol content of each component used in the preparation of the coating composition in each example/comparative example was measured by gas chromatography according to Japanese Industrial Standard JIS K5601, and based on the results, the alcohol content of the entire coating composition was determined. The content was calculated.
Solution Appearance The appearance (transparency and fluidity) of the samples prepared as coating compositions in each Example/Comparative Example was visually observed.
Storage Stability The coating compositions of Examples/Comparative Examples were prepared and stored at 25° C. for one month from the time of preparation, and then their storage stability was evaluated according to the following criteria.
Good: There was no change from the state immediately after preparation, and transparency and fluidity were maintained.
×: Changed from the state immediately after preparation, and did not maintain transparency and fluidity.
Penetration One drop of the coating composition obtained in each example and comparative example was dropped onto an MDF (medium density fiber) board or solid wood using a dropper, and the degree of penetration into the MDF board or solid wood was measured. A visual evaluation was made as ○ if it soaked in quickly, △ if it soaked in after a few minutes, and × if it hardly soaked in.
Application amount The coating composition obtained in each example and comparative example was applied onto a 10 x 10 x 1 cm size MDF (medium density fiber) board or solid wood to an extent that no liquid pooled, and the coating composition was kept at room temperature for 24 hours. Dry. Furthermore, the same operation was carried out on the next day and the day after, and coating and drying were performed three times in total. The weight of the coated MDF board or solid wood after the third drying was measured, and the additional amount (g) from the initial weight per area (100 cm 2 ) was defined as the coating amount.
Stain resistance (water-based magic pen)
After drying the coated MDF board or solid wood for the third time, mark it arbitrarily with a water-based marker and wash it off with running water. Those with no residue were rated as ○, those with a slight amount of contamination remaining were rated as △, and those that could hardly be washed away were rated as ×. Furthermore, the same operation was repeated four times after the wood surface was dried.
Stain resistance (oil-based magic pen)
After the third drying process, write on the coating surface of the coated MDF board or solid wood using a permanent marker and wipe it off with ethanol. Those with a slight amount of contamination remaining were rated △, and those that could hardly be wiped off were rated ×.
Appearance (woody texture)
After drying the coated MDF board or solid wood for the third time, mark it arbitrarily with a water-based marker and judge the wood texture after rinsing with running water. ), and those that lost their woody texture (whitening of the coating surface, fluffing, etc.) were evaluated as × (fail).
