Industry audits of the carbon footprint of wine production have identified glass bottles as the largest contributor to greenhouse-gas emissions. While largely considered the perfect vessel for wine, glass bottles pose significant environmental concerns. Making glass bottles requires an enormous amount of heat and energy. The round shape of the bottle is very inefficient when it comes to transport given that majority of boxes and containers are rectilinear and creates a void between the walls of the package and bottles.

Abstract
Une bouteille de transition à facettes multiples avec une base ronde fournit une conception de densité de paquet élevée qui est optimisée pour un emballage, un transport et une expédition sûrs et efficaces tout en conservant une compatibilité avec un équipement de remplissage, de bouchage et d'étiquetage existant. La bouteille de transition à facettes multiples comporte une partie de corps à facettes multiples et une partie de base ronde. La partie de corps à facettes multiples présente une transition sans soudure des facettes à la partie de base ronde. La bouteille de transition à facettes multiples est non seulement plus solide, mais également plus légère que les bouteilles classiques. La bouteille de transition à facettes multiples permet un emballage plus efficace qui repose sur la partie à facettes de la conception de bouteille pour augmenter la densité d'emballage et renforcer structuralement l'emballage, ce qui permet de réduire les déchets d'emballage et de réduire la taille et le poids dimensionnels d'emballages. Avantageusement, la bouteille de transition à facettes multiples réduit l'empreinte carbone associée à l'emballage, à l'expédition, au transport et au stockage de bouteilles en réduisant le poids et les dimensions de la bouteille, en réduisant l'excès d'emballage, en améliorant la densité de paquets et en réduisant les coûts de carburant.
