Abstract

A geothermal distilled water production plant harvests thermal energy from geothermal sources by means of vapour from a boiling liquid without contact with the ground and, by direct use of the geothermal energy of the vapour from the boiling liquid, generates the electrical and thermal energy required to produce distilled water from water from natural sources. In the geothermal distilled water production plant, a boiling liquid evaporator is used which is mounted at the bottom of a well that serves as a space for the generation of vapour from a boiling liquid arriving via a return pipe, using the thermal energy of the ground and the gravitational force of the boiling liquid. For efficient use of the geothermal energy of the boiling liquid, the geothermal distilled water production plant uses a system of boiling liquid-to-water heat exchangers which consists of a water preheater, a water heater, a water evaporator and a condenser. In the geothermal distilled water production plant, the boiling liquid circulates through the following closed loop: "boiling liquid evaporator – turbine – compressor - water evaporator - water heater - water preheater – pump - boiling liquid evaporator".
