TECHNICAL FIELD
[0002] This disclosure relates to a gusset performance structure that includes both surface wicking and a one-way moisture transport to an inner layer to improve moisture absorbency and comfort for a user, and that is capable of being structured to be held securely in place without any visible seamlines, and a garment including the gusset performance structure.
BACKGROUND

Further, nothing is disclaimed.
[0004] There is a desire to enable a gusset performance structure that includes both surface wicking and a one-way moisture transport to an inner layer to improve moisture absorbency and comfort for a user, and that is capable of being structured to be held securely in place without any visible seamlines. However, despite various attempts by others, this type of absorptive or incontinence and menstrual underwear or garment does not yet exist. SUMMARY
[0005] This disclosure enables an absorptive or incontinence or menstrual underwear and/or garment that is sufficiently waterproof, and capable of being structured to be held securely in place without any visible seamlines. This disclosure at least partially addresses at least one of above inefficiencies. However, this disclosure can prove useful to other technical areas. Therefore, various claims recited below should not be construed as necessarily limited to addressing any of the above inefficiencies.
[0006] An exemplary embodiment of this invention is directed to an article comprising: at least one top layer; at least one intermediate layer; at least one back layer, wherein an edge portion of each of the at least one top layer, the at least one intermediate layer, and the at least one back layer is arranged to be folded in a downward direction to form a first folded portion. An ordering of the at least one top layer, the at least one intermediate layer, and the at least one back layer is reversed in the first folded portion such that an upper surface of each of the at least one front layer, the at least one intermediate layer and the at least one back layer forms a secondary back surface of each respective layer, and a bottom surface of each of the at least one front layer, the at least one intermediate layer, and the at least one back layer forms a secondary top surface of each respective layer, and each of the at least one top layer, the at least one intermediate layer, and the at least one back layer is connected to an adjacent layer in the first folded portion.

Claims

1 . An article comprising: at least one top layer having a first edge portion; at least one intermediate layer having a second edge portion; at least one back layer having a third edge portion, wherein the first, second and third edge portions are folded in a downward direction to form a first folded portion; wherein an arrangement of the at least one top layer, the at least one intermediate layer, and the at least one back layer in the first folded portion is such that the at least one back layer forms an innermost layer of the first folded portion and the at least one top layer forms an outermost layer of the folded portion, and wherein each of the at least one top layer, the at least one intermediate layer, and the at least one back layer is connected to an adjacent layer in the first folded portion.
2. The article of claim 1 , wherein, in the first folded portion the at least one back layer is connected an adjacent intermediate layer via a first bonding element.
3. The article of any one of claims 1 and 2, wherein the article comprises a plurality of intermediate layers.
4. The article of claim 2, wherein, in the first folded portion, two adjacent intermediate layers of the plurality of intermediate layers are connected via a second bonding element.
5. The article of claim 4, wherein, in the first folded portion, an outermost intermediate layer of the plurality of intermediate layers is connected to the at least one top layer via a third bonding element.
6. The article of claim 5, wherein the outermost intermediate layer is an intermediate layer that is closest to the at least one top layer.
7. The article of any one of claims 6, further comprising a material layer, wherein a fourth edge portion of the material layer is folded in an upward direction to form a second folded portion such that a bottom surface of the material layer is adjacent to the first folded portion, and wherein the material layer is connected to the at least one top layer in the first folded portion via a fourth bonding element.
8. The article of claim 7, wherein the first to fourth bonding elements are the same or different, and are independently selected from stitching, knitting, bonding tape, adhesive, glue or combinations thereof.
9. The article of any one of claims 1 -8, wherein the at least one top layer is a wicking layer.
10. The article of claim 9, wherein a material of the wicking layer is selected from fabric, natural yarn, synthetic yarn, synthetic fabric, polyurethane, cotton, silk, polyester, polyamide, elastane, rubber, plastic, metal, wool, merino wool, polypropylene, rayon, linen, bamboo, Gore-Tex®, X-Static®, Tencel™, lyocell, modal, or combinations thereof.
11 . The article of any one of claims 1 -10, wherein the at least one back layer is a waterproof layer.
12. The article of claim 11 , wherein a material of the waterproof layer is selected from a water resistant, a water repellant material or a combination thereof.
13. The article of any one of claims 1-11 , wherein a material of the at least one intermediate layer is selected from fabric, natural yarn, synthetic yarn, synthetic fabric, polyurethane, cotton, silk, polyester, polyamide, elastane, rubber, plastic, metal, wool, merino wool, polypropylene, rayon, linen, bamboo, Gore-Tex®, X-Static®, Tencel™, lyocell, modal, or combinations thereof.
14. The article of any one of claims 7-13, wherein a material of the material layer is selected from fabric, natural yarn, synthetic yarn, synthetic fabric, polyurethane, cotton, silk, polyester, polyamide, elastane, rubber, plastic, metal, wool, merino wool, polypropylene, rayon, linen, bamboo, Gore-Tex®, X-Static®, Tencel™, lyocell, modal, or combinations thereof.
15. The article of any one of claims 1 -14, wherein a weight of the article is about 50 g to about 500 g.
16. The article of any one of claims 1 -15, wherein a width of the article is about 0.5 inches to about 6.0 inches at a narrowest point of the article and about 3.0 inches to about 14.0 inches at a widest point of the article.
17. The article of any one of claims 1 -16, wherein a water absorption capacity of the article is about 250 ml to about 1000 ml.
18. A garment, comprising the article of claim 1 .
19. A device comprising: a garment, wherein the garment comprises: a crotch area including the article of any one of claims 1 -17, a front body portion, a rear body portion, and a pair of leg openings.
20. The device according to claim 19, further comprising an elastic waistband.
21 . The device according to any one of claims 19-20, further comprising a label.
22. The device according to any one of claims 19-21 , wherein each of the pair of leg openings other than the gusset performance structure is surrounded by an elastic layer folded into the body portion and connected to the body portion via a leg opening bonding element.
23. The device according to any one of claims 19-22, wherein the front body portion is connected to the crotch area via a front bonding element.
24. The device according to any one of claims 19-23, wherein the front body portion is connected to the crotch area via a rear bonding element.
25. The device according to any one of claims 19-24, wherein the front bonding component and the rear bonding component and the leg opening component are the same or different and are selecting from a stitching, a knitting, an adhesive layer, a bonding tape, or combinations thereof.
26. A method comprising: causing a garment to include a crotch area; causing the crotch area to include at least one top layer; at least one intermediate layer; at least one back layer; causing each of the at least top layer, at least one intermediate layer and at least one back layer to include a first edge portion, a second edge portion, and a third edge portion, respectively; causing the first to third edge portions to be folded in a downward direction to form a first folded portion, such that the at least one back layer forms an innermost layer of the first folded portion and the at least one top layer forms an outermost layer of the folded portion, and causing each of the at least one top layer, the at least one intermediate layer, and the at least one back layer to be connected to an adjacent layer in the first folded portion.
