DESCRIPCION DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to tubes, lines, catheters and other medical devices used in intravenous therapy. More particularly, it refers to a connector to prevent the lines from twisting and coiling causing an interruption of drug or blood flow.
ESTADO DE LA TÉCNICA STATE OF THE TECHNIQUE
Intravenous therapy has been in use since the 1950s. Some systems used for intravenous therapy include a short catheter inserted into a patient's vein connected to a sterile dispensing container via tubing. Fluid is metered at a specific velocity from the dispensing container to the patient. Sometimes, however, the tube can become tangled, especially when the patient moves to get comfortable after being in one position for a long time.
The same problem occurs when blood is drawn from a patient or donor.
It is therefore desirable to have a system that prevents twisting and entanglement of the tracks.
RESUMEN DE LA INVENCIÓN SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention solves the technical problem stated above thanks to a rotary connector for intravenous therapy lines that allows easy rotary adjustment of an intravenous line to administer or withdraw fluids from a patient.
The connector comprises a central area and a first and second sections of track adapted to connect to two other pre-existing sections and that will be used to introduce medications, serum, plasma, etc. or to draw blood from the patient. Each distal end of the two track sections is provided with a connector, female and male respectively. Connecting both sections of track, in the central area of the connector, there are two connecting pieces and a bearing or bearing. The first connecting piece embraces the first section of track and is inserted into the interior cavity of the bearing. The second connecting piece is attached to the second section of track and to the external part of the bearing. The two sections of track are inside the central area of the connector, but the second section only does so inside the second connecting piece, without touching the bearing or extending through its interior gap. Thus, the second section is free to rotate around the axis of the connector. The connector ensures tightness and uninterrupted passage of fluids, in addition to reducing the chances of the line coming out of the vein by eliminating the shear forces present when there is a twist.
BREVE DESCRIPCIÓN DE LAS FIGURAS BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES

Figure 1 shows a cross section of the connector according to the present utility model.
The present invention allows the use of intravenous lines without them becoming twisted, bent or tangled.
Referring to Figure 1, the connector of the present utility model comprises a first 1 and second section of track 2 with female and male connectors at each corresponding distal end 1a, 2a. Both sections of track are of equal diameter and are located on the main axis of the rotating connector of the invention. To each Female and male connector at the ends connect the sections of a pre-existing line to provide medications, to extract blood, etc.
Attached to both sections are two connecting pieces 3, 4 and a sealed bearing or bearing 5 (as an expert will understand, a bearing is a particular type of bearing provided with spheres, the figure shows a particular implementation with a bearing whose spheres are sealed inside the two rings). The connecting parts and the bearing form a central area of the rotating connector. The first connecting piece 3 embraces the first section of track 1 and is inserted into the interior cavity of the bearing 5a. The second connecting piece is attached to the second section of track and to the external part of the bearing 5b. The first and second track sections 1, 2 thus extend within the central area of the rotary connector along its central axis, but the first section 1 only within the first connecting piece 3 and the second section 2 only inside the second connecting piece 4, without extending through the interior gap of the bearing 5a. In this way, the second section of track is free 2 to rotate around the axis of the connector (or vice versa, the first section 1 is free to rotate around the second). The first section of track 1 extends along the axis of the first connecting piece 3 so that its end is very close to the end of the second section of track 2. This ensures the tightness of the connector and the uninterrupted passage of the fluids. Both connecting pieces and the track sections are preferably made of thermostable plastic for medical use, the connecting pieces being made of a rigid plastic and the track sections being made of a flexible plastic, while the bearing is preferably made of steel.
The invention is especially useful in pediatrics and veterinary medicine, since patients in these areas cannot limit their movements with respect to the road.
In view of this description and figure, the person skilled in the art will be able to understand that the invention has been described according to some preferred embodiments thereof, but that multiple variations can be introduced in said preferred embodiments, without exceeding the object of the invention as such. and how it has been claimed.
