Description

ANIMAL REPELLENT
DESCRIPTION
Field of the invention
[001] The present invention relates to animal repellents, especially to deer and weevil repellents.
Background of the invention
[002] US patent application publication No. US5674496 discloses a repellent and method for minimizing or eliminating damage to objects caused by animals. Methods are disclosed for extracting the active repellent ingredient from pepper plants, particularly nero peppers, and for using the extract to treat the objects to be protected. Disclosed protective treatment methods include applying the extract directly to the item to be protected, and/or mixing the extract with caulks, paints, glues, or rubber coating materials.
[003] Japanese patent application publication No. JPH0570302 discloses a repellent to harmful or disagreeable animal having low toxicity. The repellent contains an organic amine of formula I [R1 and R2 are H, 1-3C or 8-18C alkyl, 1-3C alkanol, haloallyl, benzyl, naphthyl, polyoxyethylene (n=4-24) or alkylaminopolyoxyethylene (n=4-24); R3 is 1-3C or 8-18C alkyl, alkylcarboxy, hydroxyalkylene or pyrazinoethylene] having a boiling point of >=150 deg.C under 760mmHg, an alkylallyl ammonium salt of formula II (R1 and R3 are 4-18C alkyl, benzyl or alkylphenyldiethoxy; X is halogen), a pyridinium salt of formula III (R1 is 1-3C alkyl; R2 is 8-18C alkyl), an imidazole salt of formula IV (R1 is 12-18C alkyl; R2 is 1-4C or 8-24C alkyl) or a carboxybetaine-type or aminocarboxylic acid salt-type ampholytic surfactant as the repelling component.
[004] Korean patent application publication No. KR20160079371 discloses another animal repellent. An animal repellent comprises 0.5 to 10 parts by weight of one or more selected from cinnamon and citronella, 0.1 to 5 parts by weight of pepper, 0.1 to 10 parts by weight of terpene oil, 0.5 to 10 parts by weight of pine oil, 0.5 to 20 parts by weight of an Azadirachta indica extract, and 5 to 30 parts by weight of one or more selected from a processed liquid sulphur and a pyroligneous liquid.
[005] International application publication No. WO9406298 discloses a composition comprising a terpene or terpene derivative and a polymer substituted by amine or amide groups. Optionally binders, thickeners and other conventional additives may also be included. The composition has insect repelling, aquatic organism repelling and fungi repelling properties.
[006] Most of aforementioned repellents contain non-natural ingredients making them toxic, even if it is stated as having low toxicity. Some ingredients, like pepper, can be irritatable to humans. The aim of the invention is to create an animal repellent that is non-toxic and effective in repelling animals from trees, especially deer and weevil from trees.
Summary of the invention
[007] Aim of the invention is reached by design of an animal repellent comprising an adhesive component, a terpene component, a water, a viscosity control component, a stabilizer and especially abrasive particles.
[008] The adhesive component of the repellent is selected from group of a hemp oil, flaxseed oil, rapeseed oil and beeswax. An amount of the adhesive component in the repellent is up to 50 weight%. In the preferred embodiments the adhesive component in the repellent is in the range of 40 to 50 weight%.
[009] The terpene of the repellent is selected from group of a pine needle extract. An amount of the terpene component in the repellent is in the range of 0 to 7.5 weight%. In the preferred embodiments the terpene in the repellent is in the range of 0 to 5 weight%. Moreover, the hop extract is a powder of the hop extract. However, the pine needle extract is a powder of the pine needle extract.
[010] The abrasive particles are selected from group of a sand, coal, limestone and clay. An amount of the abrasive particles in the repellent is up to 10 weight%. In the preferred embodiments the abrasive particles in the repellent are in the range of 5 to 10 weight%. As the clay a micronized clay may be used. [011] In the repellent an amount of the water is up to 70 weight%. In the preferred embodiments the water is in the range of 50 to 70 weight%. The water function in the repellent as a solvent.
[012] The viscosity control component is selected from group of a rosin or/and a spruce bark extract. An amount of the viscosity control component in the repellent is in the range of 5 to 15 weight%. In the preferred embodiments the viscosity control component in the repellent is 10 weight%.
[013] The stabilizer is selected from group of a Sodium hydroxide and Potassium hydroxide. An amount of the stabiliser in the repellent is in the range of 2.5 to 7.5 weight%. In the preferred embodiments the stabilizer in the repellent is 5 weight%.
[014] It was surprisingly found out that said repellent is very effective in protection planting stock (foundation stock), pines and spruces from deer and weevil.
Detailed description of the embodiments
[015] The preferred embodiments of the invention are now described to indicate objectives, advantages, and efficiency of the present invention.
[016] One embodiment of the invention is the deer and weevil repellent comprising: - an adhesive component in amount of up to 50 weight% and selected from group of a hemp oil, rapeseed oil and beeswax; - a terpene component in amount of up to 5 weight%; - abrasive particles in amount of up to 10 weight% and selected from group of a sand, coal, limestone and clay; - a water in amount of up to 70 weight%; - a viscosity control component in amount of 10 weight% and selected from group of a rosin or/and a spruce bark extract; and - a stabilizer in amount of 5 weight% and selected from group of a Sodium hydroxide and Potassium hydroxide.
[017] Another embodiment of the animal repellent against deer and weevil comprises: - the hemp oil of 25 weight%; - the pine needle extract powder of 5 weight%; - the sand of 5 weight%; - the water of 50 weight%; - the rosin of 10 weight%; and - the Sodium hydroxide of 5 weight%. [018] Another embodiment of the animal repellent against deer and weevil comprises: the rapeseed oil of 25 weight%; the camphor of 5 weight%; a limestone of 5 weight%; the water of 50 weight%; the spruce bark extract of 10 weight%; and the Potassium hydroxide of 5 weight%.
[019] In another embodiment of the animal repellent against deer and weevil it comprises: the rapeseed oil and beeswax of 25 weight%; the camphor of 5 weight%; a limestone of 5 weight%; the water of 55 weight%; the spruce bark extract of 5 weight%; and the Potassium hydroxide of 5 weight%
[020] While the invention may be susceptible to various modifications and alternative forms, specific embodiments of which have been shown by way of example in the figures and have been described in detail herein, it should be understood that the invention is not intended to be limited to the particular forms disclosed. Rather, the invention includes all modifications, equivalents, and alternatives falling within the scope of the invention as defined by the following claims.
