Abstract

A hermetically sealed assay system comprising a hermetically sealed shell for a lateral flow assay disposed within an interior space of the hermetically sealed shell, the interior space having humidity low enough to substantially protect the lateral flow assay from degradation by water, and the hermetically sealed shell having at least one port penetrable by a sample delivery device to provide a sample to at least one sample inlet area of the lateral flow assay, the at least one port matching the diameter of the sample delivery device and the at least one sample inlet area of the lateral flow assay.
