Description

AUTOMATIC ELECTRIC AIR MATTRESS FRAME FOR PREVENTING PRESSURE SORES
Technical Field
Engineering related to the automatic electric air mattress frame for preventing pressure sores.
Background Art
This automatic pressure sore prevention system reduces risks of bed users having pressure sores caused by being bed-bound and/or lying still in any position for a long time. Pressure sores are caused by death of skin cells and subcutaneous tissues due to pressure at tuberosity points and pressure from outside materials. This problem can occur to people of any gender and age. Complications from pressure sores lead to hospitalization, particularly among elderly patients or patients with limited mobility, and cause psychological effects on patients such as pain from wounds, length of hospitalization and lower quality of life. Among patients aged 70 years and up, pressure sores increases the likelihood of death by 4 -6 times and patients are more likely to die as patients grow older.
According to the Thai petty patent for the bed monitoring and motion warning system, Application No. 1803000663, bed users’ movements can be processed and data on patients’ movements in various positions can be collected and recorded at all times and patients and nurses can be warned. However, the aforementioned monitoring system is unable to arrange bed users’ positions appropriately and prevent pressure sores. This automatic pressure sore prevention system uses bed users’ motion data from sensors of the bed monitoring and motion warning system developed in the past to enable this automatic pressure sore prevention to manage body positions at risk of pressure sores effectively in real-time and remotely.
Description of Embodiments
The automatic electric air mattress frame for preventing pressure sores consists of a number long cylindrical electric air cushions connected on a flat plane with an undulating top surface. The interior of long cylindrical air cushions is hollow to contain air. One position of long cylindrical air cushions is installed with an air supply tube. The position of the air supply tube is installed with a valve cap connected to the pressure sensor, which functions to measure air pressure in long cylindrical air cushions. The valve cap connects the air supply tube to the air inlet pump and the air outlet valve. The air inlet pump and the air outlet valve is connected to the air valve management system, which functions to direct the air inlet pump and the air outlet valve to increase or reduce the amount of air in long cylindrical air cushions. The air valve management system is connected to the control system. The control system directs the air valve management system to increase or reduce the amount of air in one of the long cylindrical air cushions based on differences in the bed user’s motions from pressure space and pressure weight data in order to manage pressure from the bed user’s weight as automatic system for preventing pressure sores.
The main goal of the automatic electric air mattress frame for preventing pressure sores is to appropriately adjust the position of the pressure acting on the body of the bed user on the automatic electric air mattress frame for preventing pressure sores.

One position of the long cylindrical air cushions (21 ) is installed with the air supply tube. The air supply tube is installed with the valve cap (11) connected to the pressure sensor (33 ) which functions to measure air pressure in the long cylindrical air cushions (21 ). The valve cap (11) connects the air supply tube to the air inlet pump (31) and the air outlet valve (32).
The air inlet pump (3 1 ) and the air outlet pump (3 2 ) connected to the air valve management system (40) functions to direct the air inlet pump (3 1 ) and the air outlet valve (32) to increase or reduce the amount of air in the long cylindrical air cushions (21).
The air valve management system (40) is connected to at least one air inlet pump (31) and a number of air outlet valves (32). The air valve management system (40 ) is connected to the function control system (12). The function control system (12) will direct the air valve management system (40) to increase or decrease the amount of air inside a number of long cylindrical air cushions in each curve based on differences in the motions of the bed user according to data on pressure space and weight in order to properly manage pressure caused by the bed user’s weight as an automatic system for preventing pressure sores.
At least one air inlet pump (3 1 ) functions to transfer air into long cylindrical air cushions (21) of the electric air mattress (20) in either an equal amount or an unequal amount.
A number of air outlet valves (32 ) functions to extract air from long cylindrical air cushions (21) of the electric air mattress (20) in either an equal amount or an unequal amount.
Based on data on the pressure and pressure weight, the differences in the positions and motions of the bed user are managed with the pressure from the bed user’s weight to automatically prevent pressure sores. The air valve management system (40) and the function control system (12) will work together to direct air inlet pumps (31) and air outlet valves (32) to transfer air in or extract air out from a number of long cylindrical air cushions (21 ) of the electric air mattress (2 0 ) in either an equal amount or an unequal amount according to appropriate settings for the bed user in the function control system (12).
During use, the automatic electric air mattress frame for preventing pressure sores is covered with Mattress One (1 A) below to create a wide surface for placing the electric air mattress (20) to create accuracy in measuring air pressure inside long cylindrical air cushions (21).
The upper side of the electric air mattress (20) is covered with Mattress Two (IB) to create a wide surface for the bed user to lie down and receive pressure from the bed user. The pressure will be transferred from Mattress Two (I B) to the electric air mattress (2 0 ) and create accuracy in measuring air pressure inside long cylindrical air cushions (21).
Mattress One (1 A) and Mattress Two (1 B) will have either an equal or an unequal thickness.
Function a. The upper side of the electric air mattress (20) is covered with Mattress Two (1 B) to create a wide surface for the bed user to lie down and receive pressure from the bed user. The pressure will be transferred from Mattress Two (IB) to the electric air mattress (20). b. The electric air mattress (20 ) will receive downward pressure from the bed user according to differences in positions and motions of the bed user from data on pressure space and weight. c. The air inside the long cylindrical air cushions (21) will be pressed out via the valve cap (11) connected to the pressure sensor (33). The pressure sensor will send data on pressure inside a number of long cylindrical air cushions (21) to the function control system (12). d. When the function control system (12) receives air pressure data from the pressure sensor (33), differences in positions and motions of the bed user from data on pressure space and weight from the bed user’s weight will be calculated and the valve management system (40) will order the air inlet valve (31) and the air outlet valve (32) to let air in or extract air from either an equal or unequal number of long cylindrical air cushions (2 1 ) of either the electric air mattress (20).
