Abstract
Systems and processes for providing and updating user interfaces for search functions are provided. An example process includes, at a computer system including a touch sensitive display and one or more input devices: receiving, via the one or more input devices, a request to display a user interface; in response to receiving the request to display the user interface, displaying, via the touch sensitive display, the user interface including an affordance including an indication of a number of pages of the user interface; and while displaying the user interface: detecting an occurrence of a predetermined condition; and in response to detecting the occurrence of the predetermined conditions, updating the affordance to include an indication of a search function.
Claims
AMENDED CLAIMS received by the International Bureau on 7 November 2023 (07.11 .2023) A method, comprising: at a computer system including a touch sensitive display and one or more input devices: receiving, via the one or more input devices, a request to display a user interface; in response to receiving the request to display the user interface, displaying, via the touch sensitive display, the user interface including an affordance including an indication of a number of pages of the user interface; while displaying the user interface: detecting an occurrence of a predetermined condition; and in response to detecting the occurrence of the predetermined condition, updating the affordance from the indication of the number of pages of the user interface to an indication of a search function. The method of claim 1, wherein receiving the request to display the user interface includes detecting a swipe gesture in a predetermined direction on the touch sensitive surface. The method of any of claims 1-2, wherein the affordance has a predetermined size that is not affected by the number of pages. The method of any of claims 1-3, wherein the affordance has a predetermined location on a first page of the user interface and a second page of the user interface. The method of any of claims 1-4, further comprising: in accordance with a determination that the number of pages of the user interface is greater than a predetermined number, displaying the affordance with a first indication that the number of pages is greater than the predetermined number; and in accordance with a determination that the number of pages is not greater than the predetermined number, displaying the affordance with a second indication that the number of pages is not greater than the predetermined number.

The method of any of claims 1-5, further comprising: detecting an input corresponding to selection of a page of the user interface; and in response to detecting the input corresponding to selection of the page of the user interface, displaying the selected page of the user interface. The method of any of claims 1-6, further comprising: while displaying the affordance with the indication of the search function: detecting an input to display a second page of the user interface; and in response to detecting the input to display the second page of the user interface, displaying the second page of the user interface including the affordance including the indication of the number of pages of the user interface. The method of claim 7, wherein a first portion of the indication of the number of pages is emphasized when displayed on a first page of the user interface and a second portion of the indication of the number of pages is emphasized when displayed on the second page of the user interface. The method of any of claims 7-8, further comprising: while displaying the second page of the user interface: detecting a second occurrence of the predetermined condition; and in response to detecting the second occurrence of the predetermined condition, updating the affordance to include the indication of the search function. The method of any of claims 1-9, further comprising: detecting an input selecting the indication of the search function; and in response to detecting the input selecting the indication of the search function, displaying a search user interface. The method of claim 10 wherein displaying the search user interface further comprises: concurrently displaying: a user interface element associated with searching; and

a user interface element associated with a topic of interest.
12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the topic of interest is based on a context of the computer system.
13. The method of any of claims 11-12, further comprising: displaying an animation including a transition from the user interface to the search user interface.
14. The method of claim 13, wherein displaying the animation including the transition from the user interface to the search user interface further comprises: displaying an animation of the affordance becoming the user interface element associated with searching; and displaying an animation of the affordance moving from a first position in the user interface to a second position in the search user interface.
15. The method of claim 14, wherein the animation of the affordance becoming the user interface element associated with search and the animation of the affordance moving from the first position in the user interface to the second position in the search user interface are displayed concurrently.
16. A computer system, comprising: one or more processors; a memory; and one or more programs, wherein the one or more programs are stored in the memory and configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for: receiving, via one or more input devices, a request to display a user interface; in response to receiving the request to display the user interface, displaying, via a touch sensitive display, the user interface including an affordance including an indication of a number of pages of the user interface;

while displaying the user interface: detecting an occurrence of a predetermined condition; and in response to detecting the occurrence of the predetermined condition, updating the affordance from the indication of the number of pages of the user interface to an indication of a search function. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing one or more programs configured to be executed by one or more processors of a computer system, the one or more programs including instructions for: receiving, via one or more input devices, a request to display a user interface; in response to receiving the request to display the user interface, displaying, via a touch sensitive display, the user interface including an affordance including an indication of a number of pages of the user interface; while displaying the user interface: detecting an occurrence of a predetermined condition; and in response to detecting the occurrence of the predetermined condition, updating the affordance from the indication of the number of pages of the user interface to an indication of a search function. A computer system, comprising: means for receiving, via one or more input devices, a request to display a user interface; means for in response to receiving the request to display the user interface, displaying, via a touch sensitive display, the user interface including an affordance including an indication of a number of pages of the user interface; while displaying the user interface: means for detecting an occurrence of a predetermined condition; and means for in response to detecting the occurrence of the predetermined condition, updating the affordance from the indication of the number of pages of the user interface to an indication of a search function.

A computer system, comprising: one or more processors; a memory; and one or more programs, wherein the one or more programs are stored in the memory and configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for performing the methods of any one of claims 1-15. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing one or more programs, the one or more programs comprising instructions, which when executed by one or more processors of an electronic device, cause the electronic device to perform the methods of any one of claims 1-15. An electronic device, comprising: means for performing the methods of any one of claims 1-15. A method, comprising: at a computer system that is in communication with a display generation component and one or more input devices: detecting, via the one or more input devices, a user input on a first portion of a search user interface; and in response to detecting the user input on the first portion of the search user interface, displaying, via the display generation component, a search results user interface including: a user interface element associated with a search result; and a user interface element associated with a search operation, wherein the user interface element associated with the search operation is displayed in a predetermined position and includes a text indication of a target of the search operation. The method of claim 22, further comprising:

prior to displaying the search results user interface, displaying an animation transitioning from a search user interface to the search results user interface. The method of any of claim 23, wherein: displaying the search user interface includes displaying a virtual keyboard; displaying the search results user interface includes ceasing to display the virtual keyboard; and the animation includes a transition from displaying the virtual keyboard to ceasing to display the virtual keyboard. The method of any of claims 23-24, wherein the user interface element associated with the search operation is displayed in a first position prior to detecting the user input and in a second position when displayed in the predetermined position. The method of claim 25, wherein the animation transitioning from the search user interface to the search results user interface includes an animation moving the user interface element associated with the search operation from the first position to the second position. The method of any of claims 22-26, wherein displaying the search results user interface further includes: displaying the user interface element associated with the search operation including an affordance for providing previous search results. The method of claim 27, further comprising: detecting a user input on the affordance for providing previous search results; and in response to detecting the user input on the affordance for providing previous search results displaying the search results user interface including: a user interface element associated with a previous search result; and the user interface element associated with the search operation in the predetermined position.

The method of any of claims 22-28, further comprising: while displaying the search results user interface: detecting a user input selecting the user interface element associated with the search result; and in response to detecting the user input selecting the user interface element associated with the search result: displaying data related to the search result in the search results user interface; and displaying a title of the search result in the user interface element associated with the search operation. The method of claim 29, wherein the title of the search result is an entity associated with the search result. The method of claim 30, wherein the user interface element associated with the search operation further includes a glyph indicating a type of the entity. The method of any of claims 29-31 further comprising: detecting a user input selecting the user interface element associated with the search operation; and in response to detecting the user input selecting the user interface element associated with the search operation: displaying the search user interface including: the virtual keyboard; and the user interface element associated with the search operation in the first position. The method of any of claims 22-32, wherein content displayed at the edges of the search results user interface are partially obscured.

The method of claim 33, wherein the user interface element associated with the search operation is displayed over the partially obscured content. The method of any of claims 22-34, further comprising: detecting a predetermined event; and in response to detecting the predetermined event, ceasing display of the search results user interface. The method of claim 35, wherein ceasing display of the search results user interface further comprises: displaying an animation transitioning from the search results user interface to a different user interface. The method of any of claims 35-36, wherein displaying the animation transitioning from the search results user interface to the different user interface includes: displaying an animation of the user interface element associated with searching becoming an affordance associated with a page number; and displaying an animation of the user interface element associated with searching moving from a first position in the user interface to a second position in the different user interface. The method of claim 37, further comprising: detecting a swipe user input from the top of the different user interface; and in response to detecting the swipe user input from the top of the different user interface: displaying the search user interface including the user interface element associated with a search in a predetermined location. A computer system, comprising: one or more processors; a memory; and

one or more programs, wherein the one or more programs are stored in the memory and configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for: detecting, via the one or more input devices, a user input on a first portion of a search user interface; and in response to detecting the user input on the first portion of the search user interface, displaying, via the display generation component, a search results user interface including: a user interface element associated with a search result; and a user interface element associated with a search operation, wherein the user interface element associated with the search operation is displayed in a predetermined position and includes a text indication of a target of the search operation.
40. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing one or more programs configured to be executed by one or more processors of a computer system, the one or more programs including instructions for: detecting, via the one or more input devices, a user input on a first portion of a search user interface; and in response to detecting the user input on the first portion of the search user interface, displaying, via the display generation component, a search results user interface including: a user interface element associated with a search result; and a user interface element associated with a search operation, wherein the user interface element associated with the search operation is displayed in a predetermined position and includes a text indication of a target of the search operation.
41. A computer system, comprising: means for detecting, via the one or more input devices, a user input on a first portion of a search user interface; and

means for in response to detecting the user input on the first portion of the search user interface, displaying, via the display generation component, a search results user interface including: a user interface element associated with a search result; and a user interface element associated with a search operation, wherein the user interface element associated with the search operation is displayed in a predetermined position and includes a text indication of a target of the search operation. A computer system, comprising: one or more processors; a memory; and one or more programs, wherein the one or more programs are stored in the memory and configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for performing the methods of any one of claims 22-38. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing one or more programs, the one or more programs comprising instructions, which when executed by one or more processors of an electronic device, cause the electronic device to perform the methods of any one of claims 22-38. An electronic device, comprising: means for performing the methods of any one of claims 22-38.
