本発明は、粘度測定用配管、粘度計および粘度の測定方法に関する。
流体のせん断応力とせん断速度との間には、粘性係数(粘度)を比例定数とする比例関係が成立するという、ニュートンの粘性法則が知られている。このニュートンの粘性法則に基づき、ある配管を流通する流体のせん断応力とせん断速度とを測定することで、当該流体の粘度を測定することができる。ただし、せん断速度によってせん断応力が変化する非ニュートン流体については、ひとつのせん断速度についての測定のみから当該流体の粘度を決定することができず、異なる複数のせん断速度についての粘度測定を行う必要がある。
また、上記粘度測定を行う粘度計には、配管の断面形状が円形状のキャピラリ型粘度計(Capillary die rheometer:CDR)と、配管の断面形状が長方形のスリット型粘度計(Slit die rheometer:SDR)とがあることが知られている(たとえばJIS K 7199(1999年))。これらのいずれも、配管内を流通する流体の圧力損失からせん断応力を算出し、かつ上記流体の流量および配管のサイズからせん断速度を算出して、当該流体の粘度を測定するものである。
異なる複数のせん断速度における粘度の測定を一度に行う粘度計が知られている。たとえば、特許文献1には、管径が異なると共に、管径の大きい順に直列に接続される複数の差圧測定用配管を用いて、管径が最も大きいものが上流側となるようにして、当該差圧測定用配管の内部に被測定流体を流動させる、粘度測定装置が記載されている。特許文献1では、複数の差圧測定用配管のそれぞれで、圧力損失を求める。また、これらの差圧測定用配管とは別に設けた流量計で測定した流量と、それぞれの差圧測定用配管のサイズと、からそれぞれの差圧測定用配管におけるずり速度(せん断速度)を求める。そして、上記求められた圧力損失とずり速度とから、それぞれの差圧測定用配管における被測定流体の粘度を求める。なお、特許文献1で使用する差圧測定用配管は、すべてキャピラリ型配管である。特許文献1には、管径が最も大きいものが上流側となるように差圧測定用配管を配置して、ずり速度の低いものから順に粘度測定を行うことにより、それぞれの差圧測定用配管における粘度を精度よく測定することができると記載されている。
また、特許文献2には、複数のスリット型配管を組み合わせた粘度計に用いることができる、複数の圧力センサを有するレオメータプレートが記載されている。特許文献2には、このレオメータプレートを粘度計の本体上部とし、それぞれの圧力センサに対応する位置にサイズが異なるスリットが形成されるような形状の本体上部と組み合わせることで、サイズが異なる複数のスリットを有する粘度計とすることができると記載されている。特許文献2には、各流路(スリット)は、ギャップ(高さ)に対する幅Wの比率が10よりも大きくなるように構成される、と記載されている。
また、特許文献3には、主配管に並列に並ぶ3つ以上の並列配管を備える、非ニュートン流体のレオロジー特性値を得る装置が記載されている。特許文献3では、これら3つ以上の並列配管は、半径または流量が異なるキャピラリ型配管とされている。そして、これら3つ以上の並列配管は、いずれも流路内に圧力センサ(弾性体またはひずみゲージ)が配置されて、流路内の圧力損失を測定可能とされている。これらの3つ以上の並列配管により上記非ニュートン流体の粘性係数等のレオロジー特性値を算出し、算出されたこれらのレオロジー特性値から、せん断応力とせん断速度との関係をよりよく近似する関係式を求めるとされている。
特許文献1~特許文献3に記載のように、サイズが異なる3つ以上の配管を並べて、異なる複数のせん断速度における粘度の測定を一度に行う粘度計が知られている。
ところで、廃プラスチックを再利用する際などには、由来不明の複数種類の廃プラスチックを溶融混合することがある。これらの廃プラスチックは、樹脂種によって粘度が大きく異なる。また、たとえ同じ樹脂の廃プラスチックのみを選別したとしても、分子量等が大きく異なるため粘度が大きく異なることがある。そのため、廃プラスチックを溶融混合した流体の粘度は、予測不能でありかつ溶融混合中にも絶えず変化していくことが多い。
このような、粘度が予測不能な流体の粘度を精度よく測定するためには、幅広いせん断速度における粘度の測定を行う必要がある。本発明者らの知見によれば、このような流体の粘度測定には、あるせん断速度における粘度、および、それに対して100倍のせん断速度における粘度、の測定を一度に行うことが要求される。
しかし、本発明者らの知見によれば、特許文献1~特許文献3に記載のような粘度計を用いて、せん断速度の最低値と最高値との間に少なくとも100倍程度の差があるような幅広いせん断速度範囲での粘度測定を一度に行うことは、実用上非常に困難である。
たとえば、特許文献1に記載の粘度計を用いて上記粘度測定を行うと、管径が最も細い配管における圧力損失が大きすぎて、管径が最も太い配管における圧力損失が精度よく測定できない。また、特許文献2に記載の粘度計を用いて上記粘度測定を行おうとすると、各流路における、高さに対する幅の比率を10よりも大きくする必要があるため、最もサイズが大きい流路では幅が1mを超える設計となってしまう。サイズが小さい流路と、上記サイズが大きい流路とを直列に並べると、粘度計に不要なデッドボリュームが大量に発生してしまい、装置設計に非常に大きな制約を与えることになる。また、特許文献3に記載の粘度計を用いて上記粘度測定を行おうとすると、流量を少なくして測定するときにはすべての配管の半径を極めて小さくする必要があり、配管内への圧力計の設置が非常に困難である。
上記問題に鑑み、本発明は、幅広いせん断速度範囲での粘度測定を精度よく行うことができ、かつ配管の寸法を大きすぎず小さすぎない範囲に設計することを可能とする、粘度測定用配管、当該粘度測定用配管を有する粘度計、および当該粘度測定用配管を用いた粘度の測定方法を提供することをその目的とする。
上記の課題を解決するための本発明の一態様に関する流体の粘度測定用配管は、以下の[1]~[15]に記載の粘度測定用配管である。

本発明によれば、幅広いせん断速度範囲での粘度測定を精度よく行うことができ、かつ配管の寸法を大きすぎず小さすぎない範囲に設計することを可能とする、粘度測定用配管、当該粘度測定用配管を有する粘度計、および当該粘度測定用配管を用いた粘度の測定方法が提供される。
以下、複数の実施形態により、本発明を説明する。
[粘度測定用配管]
図1は、本発明の第1の実施形態に関する粘度測定用配管100の構成を示す模式図である。

粘度測定用配管100は、第1のプレート210と第2のプレート220とを組み合わせて構成されている。図2は、第1のプレート210および第2のプレート220の、それぞれと向かい合う面の様子を示す模式図である。図2に示すように、第1のプレート210および第2のプレート220のそれぞれの向かい合う面には、上記各単位配管および接続配管の形状を有する溝が形成されており、これらの溝が形成された面同士が接触するように第1のプレート210と第2のプレート220とを組み合わせることで、それぞれサイズまたは形状が異なる複数の単位配管および複数の接続配管を有する粘度測定用配管100が形成される。粘度測定用配管100は、組み合わされた第1のプレート210および第2のプレート220を固定するためのネジを挿入するネジ孔230を有していてもよい。
なお、粘度測定用配管100の構成は、図2に示すような複数の単位配管が同じ基板(プレート)に形成されたものに限定されることはなく、それぞれの単位配管が別の基板に形成される等して、分離可能であってもよい。分離可能とすることで、粘度測定用配管を構成するいずれの単位配管を任意の別の単位配管に入れ替え可能とすることもできる。
図3は、第1のプレート210と第2のプレート220とが組み合わされることで構成される流路の様子を示す模式図である。粘度測定用配管100は、いずれも流通する上記流体の圧力を測定可能な複数の単位配管を有し、これら複数の単位配管には、キャピラリ型の単位配管と、スリット型の単位配管とが含まれる。
なお、スリット型の単位配管とは、流路の断面形状が長方形の単位配管であり、キャピラリ型の単位配管とは、流路の断面形状が円形の単位配管である。本明細書において、スリット型の単位配管における幅方向への流路の長さを、粘度測定用配管100に含まれる各単位配管の幅Wとし、スリット型の単位配管における高さ方向への流路の長さを、粘度測定用配管100に含まれる各単位配管の高さHとする。また、上記幅方向および厚み方向のいずれとも直交する方向を長さ方向とし、長さ方向への流路の長さを、粘度測定用配管100に含まれる各単位配管の長さLLとする。なお、理解を容易にするため、キャピラリ型の単位配管についても、スリット型の単位配管における幅方向への流路の長さを当該単位配管の幅Wとし、スリット型の単位配管における高さ方向への流路の長さ当該単位配管の高さHとする。キャピラリ型の単位配管において、当該単位配管の幅および高さはいずれも、断面円形状の流路の直径と一致し、当該単位配管の半径をRとしたとき、W=H=2Rである。
なお、長方形の断面形状を有するスリット型の単位配管は、高さ方向上下の壁によるせん断応力を測定するものであるが、高さに対する幅の比率を小さくしすぎると、幅方向左右の壁によるせん断応力の影響が生じてしまう。この左右の壁によるせん断応力の影響を排除するため、上記長方形の断面形状の幅方向の流路の長さ(流路の幅)は、高さ方向の流路の長さ(流路の高さ)に対して、8倍以上20倍以下とすることが好ましく、9倍以上12倍以下とすることがより好ましい。
図3に示すように、粘度測定用配管100は、長さ方向の一方側から他方側に沿ってこの順に、キャピラリ型である第1の単位配管110、スリット型である第2の単位配管130、およびスリット型である第3の単位配管150、の3つの単位配管を有する。そして、第1の単位配管110と第2の単位配管130との間には、これらの単位配管を接続する第1の接続配管120が配置されており、第2の単位配管130と第3の単位配管150との間には、これらの単位配管を接続する第2の接続配管140が配置されており、第3の単位配管150の他方側には、第3の単位配管150と外部の流路とを接続するための第3の接続配管160が配置されている。なお、単位配管の数は限定されないが、粘度がせん断速度依存性を有する非ニュートン流体の、各せん断速度における粘度を十分に把握する観点からは、いずれも圧力を測定可能な3つ以上の単位配管を有することが好ましい。単位配管の数の上限は特に限定されないが、5つ以下であることが好ましく、3つであることがより好ましい。また、図1~図3に示すように、本実施形態では、一方側から他方側へと(第1の単位配管110側から第3の単位配管150側へと)流体を流通させるが、この限りではなく、他方側から一方側へと(第3の単位配管150側から第1の単位配管110側へと)流体を流通させてもよい。
第1の単位配管110、第2の単位配管130および第3の単位配管150は、いずれも、圧力計により、当該単位配管の上流側および下流側で流体の圧力を測定することが可能である。これらの圧力計の測定値より、上流側と下流側との間の圧力差(圧力損失)を算出して、それぞれの単位配管におけるせん断応力を求めることができる。本実施形態において、第2の単位配管130は2つの圧力計132および圧力計134を有し、第3の単位配管150は2つの圧力計152および圧力計154を有する。
本実施形態において、これら複数の単位配管は、長さ方向の一方側から他方側へと向かう方向に沿って、サイズが変化するような配置となっている。サイズが異なる単位配管を組み合わせることで、それぞれの単位配管の内部を流通する流体の速度(せん断速度)を変化させ、異なるせん断速度における粘度測定を一度に行うことができる。また、このとき、スリット型の単位配管とキャピラリ型の単位配管とを組み合わせることによって、サイズが大きくなりやすい位置における単位配管のサイズを適度な範囲に抑えることができる。
具体的には、上記複数の単位配管のうちの連続する単位配管について、長さ方向の一方側に配置された単位配管を第1の単位配管とし、長さ方向の他方側に配置された単位配管を第2の単位配管とし、第1の単位配管の幅をW1、高さをH1とし、第2の単位配管の幅をW2、高さをH2としたとき、すべての第1の単位配管と第2の単位配管との間に、以下の関係が満たされる。

ここで、第2の単位配管の幅および高さを、より大きくすることで、より幅広い粘度範囲での粘度測定を、粘度測定用配管100により一度に行うことが可能となる。一方で、第2の単位配管の幅および高さを、さほど大きくしすぎないようにすることで、他方側の単位配管のサイズを適度な範囲に抑えることができる。
上記観点から、(A)第1の単位配管がキャピラリ型の単位配管であり、第2の単位配管がスリット型の単位配管であるときは、H2/H1は1.1以上であることが好ましく、1.2以上であることがより好ましく、1.3以上であることがさらに好ましい。また、H2/H1は5.0以下であることが好ましく、4.0以下であることがより好ましく、3.0以下であることがさらに好ましい。同様に、(A)第1の単位配管がキャピラリ型の単位配管であり、第2の単位配管がスリット型の単位配管であるときは、W2/W1は10以上であることが好ましく、11以上であることがより好ましく、12以上であることがさらに好ましい。また、W2/W1は30以下であることが好ましく、25以下であることがより好ましく、20以上であることがさらに好ましい。
同様に、(B)第1の単位配管がスリット型の単位配管であり、第2の単位配管がキャピラリ型の単位配管であるときは、H2/H1は1.5以上であることが好ましく、1.7以上であることがより好ましく、2.0以上であることがさらに好ましい。また、H2/H1は5.0以下であることが好ましく、4.0以下であることがより好ましく、3.0以下であることがさらに好ましい。一方で、(B)第1の単位配管がスリット型の単位配管であり、第2の単位配管がキャピラリ型の単位配管であるときは、第2の単位配管のサイズを適度な範囲にする観点から、W2/W1は0.9以下であってもよく、0.8以下であってもよい。また、第2の単位配管のサイズを適度にして粘度の測定を容易にする観点から、W2/W1は0.1以上であってもよく、0.2以上であってもよく、0.3以上であってもよい。
(A)、(C)および(D)に示すように、本実施形態では、一方側から他方側に向けて単位配管のサイズを大きくしていく。これにより、得られる粘度の測定値の精度を向上させることができ、なおかつ、幅広いせん断速度範囲での粘度測定を行うことが可能となる。ただし、(B)第1の単位配管がスリット型の単位配管であり、第2の単位配管がキャピラリ型の単位配管であるときは、第2の単位配管の高さは第1の単位配管よりも大きくするが、第2の単位配管の幅は第1の単位配管よりも小さくなる。第1の単位配管および第2の単位配管の流量が同じであり、スリット型である第1の単位配管において幅Wを高さHよりも大きくするという条件下では、後述する式(1)および式(2)において求めるせん断速度を粘度測定に必要な所定範囲にするためには、第2の単位配管の幅は、必然的に第1の単位配管よりも小さくなる。
また、(C)第1の単位配管がスリット型の単位配管であり、第2の単位配管がスリット型の単位配管であるときは、H2/H1は1.5以上であることが好ましく、1.7以上であることがより好ましく、2.0以上であることがさらに好ましい。また、H2/H1は5.0以下であることが好ましく、4.0以下であることがより好ましく、3.0以下であることがさらに好ましい。同様に、(C)第1の単位配管がスリット型の単位配管であり、第2の単位配管がスリット型の単位配管であるときは、W2/W1は1.5以上であることが好ましく、1.7以上であることがより好ましく、2.0以上であることがさらに好ましい。また、W2/W1は5.0以下であることが好ましく、4.0以下であることがより好ましく、3.0以下であることがさらに好ましい。
また、(D)第1の単位配管がキャピラリ型の単位配管であり、第2の単位配管がキャピラリ型の単位配管であるときは、H2/H1は1.5以上であることが好ましく、1.7以上であることがより好ましく、2.0以上であることがさらに好ましい。また、H2/H1は5.0以下であることが好ましく、4.0以下であることがより好ましく、3.0以下であることがさらに好ましい。同様に、(D)第1の単位配管がキャピラリ型の単位配管であり、第2の単位配管がキャピラリ型の単位配管であるときは、W2/W1は1.5以上であることが好ましく、1.7以上であることがより好ましく、2.0以上であることがさらに好ましい。また、W2/W1は5.0以下であることが好ましく、4.0以下であることがより好ましく、3.0以下であることがさらに好ましい。
また、上記(A)~(D)のいずれの組み合わせにおいても、第1の単位配管の長さをLL1とし、第2の単位配管の長さをLL2としたとき、少なくとも1組の第1の単位配管と第2の単位配管との間、好ましくはすべての第1の単位配管と第2の単位配管との間で、LL2/LL1は1.5以上であることが好ましく、1.7以上であることがより好ましく、2.0以上であることがさらに好ましい。これにより、それぞれの単位配管を流通する際に、十分な圧力差を流体に発生させ、圧力差の測定精度をより高めることができる。また、少なくとも1組の第1の単位配管と第2の単位配管との間、好ましくはすべての第1の単位配管と第2の単位配管との間で、LL2/LL1は5.0以下であることが好ましく、4.0以下であることがより好ましく、3.0以下であることがさらに好ましい。これにより、各単位配管における圧力損失を適度な範囲に抑えて、適度な大きさの動力で、粘度測定用配管に流体を流通させることができる。また、上記圧力損失により生じる発熱量を少なくすることもできる。
本実施形態において、第1の単位配管110、第2の単位配管130および第3の単位配管150はそれぞれ、キャピラリ型、スリット型、およびスリット型とされている。このように、異なる型の単位配管を組み合わせることで、せん断速度の最低値と最高値との間に少なくとも100倍程度の差があるような幅広いせん断速度範囲での粘度測定を行う際にも、それぞれの単位配管の寸法を適度な範囲とすることができる。
なお、それぞれの単位配管の型の組み合わせは上記順番に限定されることはない。本発明者らの知見によると、粘度測定用配管を流通する流体の流量が比較的少ないとき(たとえば100kg/h以下(後述する実施例(230℃における流体の密度が0.76g/cc)だと、3.7×10-3m3/s以下)のとき)には、キャピラリ型、スリット型、およびスリット型の順番とすることで、粘度測定用配管100の全体のサイズを大きすぎず小さすぎない適度な範囲に調整することができる。すべての単位配管をスリット型とすると、幅が非常に大きい単位配管を組み合わせる必要が生じ、粘度測定用配管の全体の重量が大きくなってしまったり、粘度測定用配管中に流路となっていない不要なデッドボリュームが広く発生してしまったりしやすい。また、すべての単位配管をキャピラリ型とすると、すべての単位配管のサイズが小さくなりすぎて、圧力計の設置が困難になりやすい。これらに対し、最もサイズを小さくする側の端部にサイズを小さくしやすいキャピラリ型の単位配管を配置することで、反対側の端部に配置したスリット型の単位配管のサイズを適度な範囲に抑えることができる。また、サイズを大きくする単位配管の位置にスリット型の単位配管を配置することで、圧力計を設置しやすくなるほか、粘度測定用配管の厚みの増大を抑制することができる。なお、このとき、上記3つの単位配管の長さ方向外側に、他の任意の単位配管が配置されていてもよい。
また、本発明者らの知見によると、粘度測定用配管を流通する流体の流量が比較的大きいとき(たとえば100kg/h以上(後述する実施例(230℃における流体の密度が0.76g/cc)だと、3.7×10-3m3/s以上)のとき)には、スリット型、キャピラリ型、およびキャピラリ型の順番、またはスリット型、スリット型、およびキャピラリ型の順番とすることで、粘度測定用配管100の全体のサイズを大きすぎない適度な範囲に調整することができる。すべての単位配管をスリット型とすると、端部において幅が非常に大きい単位配管を配置する必要が生じ、粘度測定用配管の全体の重量が大きくなってしまったり、粘度測定用配管中に流路となっていない不要なデッドボリュームが広く発生してしまったりしやすい。これに対し、他方の端部側(本実施形態では最も下流側)にサイズを小さくしやすいキャピラリ型の単位配管を配置することで、粘度測定用配管のサイズを適度な範囲に抑えることができる。また、最もサイズが大きくなる位置にスリット型の単位配管を配置しようとすると、当該スリット型の単位配管の幅Wが非常に大きくなる。このような幅Wが大きいスリット側の単位配管について、幅W方向の全範囲において高さHを一定の値にするような高精度での加工は困難であるため、精度よい粘度測定のための寸法精度が高い単位配管を作製することは困難である。また、スリット型の単位配管の幅Wが大きいと、単位配管の内部を流通する樹脂の圧力により高さが変化してしまいやすい。そのため、最も下流側にはキャピラリ型の単位配管を配置することが好ましい。さらには、最も下流側にスリット型の単位配管を配置すると、当該スリット型の単位配管の壁面で流体が滞留して樹脂の流動に遅れが生じ、ひいては粘度の測定も遅くなることがある。これに対し、最も下流側にキャピラリ型の単位配管を配置することで、流体の配管壁面での滞留を生じにくくして粘度の測定に遅れを生じにくくすることができる。
本実施形態において、第1の単位配管110、第2の単位配管130および第3の単位配管150は、いずれも、単位配管内部の流路形状が、長さ方向に沿って不変である。ただし、これに限られることはなく、圧力計の間の流路形状が不変であれば、その前後の形状が変化していてもよい。
本実施形態において、第2の単位配管130は2つの圧力計132および圧力計134を有し、第3の単位配管150は2つの圧力計152および圧力計154を有する。
それぞれの圧力計は、単位配管中の流体の流れが安定する位置に配置されることが好ましく、単位配管の端部(流入口および流出口)から所定の間隔を空けて配置されることがより好ましい。一方で、圧力差を測定する2点間の間隔を十分に設ける観点からは、単位配管の端部からの間隔が大きすぎない位置に配置されることが好ましい。これらのバランスをとる観点から、それぞれの圧力計は、単位配管の流路の長さLLに対する、単位流路の近接する端部(上流側に配置された圧力計(本実施形態のように第1の単位配管110から第3の単位配管150へと流体を流通させるときは圧力計132および圧力計152)については、それぞれ第2の単位配管130および第3の単位配管150の流入口。下流側に配置された圧力計(本実施形態では圧力計134および圧力計154)については、それぞれ第2の単位配管130および第3の単位配管150の流出口。)との間の間隔が、3%以上35%以下となる位置に配置されることが好ましく、5%以上30%以下となる位置に配置されることがより好ましく、6%以上25%以下となる位置に配置されることがさらに好ましい。
具体的には、第2の単位配管130および第3の単位配管150は、流体の圧力を測定する、一方向側となる位置と、それぞれの単位配管が有する流路の一方向側端部との間の、長さ方向における間隔をLUとし、流体の圧力を測定する、他方向側となる位置と、単位配管が有する流路の他方側端部との間の、長さ方向における間隔をLDとし、当該単位配管の流路長さをLWとするとき、単位配管の流路長さに対する、流体の圧力を測定する位置と単位配管の端部との間の距離の比率であるLU/LwおよびLD/Lwが、いずれも3%以上35%以下であることが好ましい。
なお、本実施形態において、キャピラリ型である第1の単位配管110はサイズが小さくなるため、内部に圧力計を配置しにくいことがある。このようなときは、キャピラリ型の単位配管の前後に流路の幅Wが広い部分を設けて、当該部分に圧力計を配置し、これらの圧力計の測定値から、第1の単位配管110を流通する流体の圧力差を求めればよい。本実施形態では、粘度測定用配管100に流体が流入する前に圧力計112を配置し、この圧力計による測定値と、第2の単位配管に配置した圧力計132による測定値と、の間の圧力差を、第1の単位配管110を流通する流体の圧力差とする。ただし、このときも、後述するせん断応力を測定する際には、第1の単位配管110の長さと、上記圧力計112と圧力計132との間の測定値の差(圧力差)と、をもとにせん断応力σを算出する。また、このようなときは、好ましいLU/LwおよびLD/Lwの範囲は上述した範囲に必ずしも限られるものではない。
このように、キャピラリ型の単位配管のサイズが小さく圧力計が配置しにくいときに、当該キャピラリ型の入口側または出口側における単位配管の圧力をその上流側または下流側において測定することを可能とするため、キャピラリ型の単位配管に隣接する位置には、スリット型の単位配管を隣接して配置することが好ましい。
本実施形態において、第1の単位配管110と第2の単位配管130との間には、これらの単位配管の間の流路形状を連続的に変化させるための第1の接続配管120が配置されている。第1の接続配管120は、流路形状が第1の単位配管110側から第2の単位配管130側に向けて流路サイズが滑らかに漸増する、流路形状がテーパー型の配管である。
同様に、第2の単位配管130と第3の単位配管150との間には、これらの単位配管の間の流路形状を連続的に変化させるための第2の接続配管140が配置されている。第2の接続配管140は、流路形状が第2の単位配管130側から第3の単位配管150側に向けて流路サイズが滑らかに漸増する、流路形状がテーパー型の配管である。
また、第3の単位配管150の他方側には、第3の単位配管150と外部の流路とを接続するための第3の接続配管160が配置されている。第3の接続配管160における流路形状は特に限定されないが、急激な圧力上昇による測定結果への影響を生じさせない形状であることが好ましく、外部の流路の形状に向けて流路形状が連続的に滑らかに変化する形状であることが好ましい。
第1の接続配管120および第2の接続配管140は、いずれも、上記テーパー型の配管とすることで、単位配管の間に流路形状が急激に変化する段差部が形成されないようにして、上記段差部における流体の滞留を抑制することができる。これにより、上記滞留による流体のロス(デッドボリューム)を低減することができる。また、それぞれの単位配管に流入した流体に、流入当初から安定した流れを形成させることができ、それぞれの単位配管のうち、より流入口に近い位置に圧力計を配置して、単位配管の長さをより小さくし、より短時間での測定が可能となる。さらには、流体が高分子などであるときには、上記滞留により流体が発熱すると、高分子の熱分解が生じて測定の精度が下がることがあるが、上記滞留を抑制することにより、発熱による測定精度の低下を抑えることもできる。
上記テーパー型は、断面形状における流路端辺が直線のみからなる単純なテーパー形状であってもよいし、一方側で流路サイズが漸増し他方側では流路サイズがほぼ一定であるコートハンガー型であってもよいし、一方側と他方側とで流路サイズの広がる割合が変化するフィッシュテール型であってもよく、その形状は特に限定されない。
上記テーパー型の、断面形状における流路端部が長さ方向に対してなす角度は、30°以上60°以下であることが好ましく、40°以上50°以下であることがより好ましい。コートハンガー型やフィッシュテール型のときには、上記角度は、接続配管の流入口における流路端部と流出口における流路端部とを結ぶ仮想直線が、長さ方向に対してなす角度とすることができる。
なお、それぞれの単位配管の間には、接続配管を配置しなくてもよい。一方で、上記効果を十分に得る観点からは、すべての単位配管の間に接続配管を配置することが好ましく、すべての単位配管の間にテーパー型の接続配管を配置することがより好ましい。
なお、図示はしないものの、粘度測定用配管100は、流体の温度を調整するためのヒーター、流体の温度を測定するための温度検出器(熱電対など)、およびヒーターによる加熱を制御する制御部を有していてもよい。また、粘度測定用配管100は、外部への放熱を防ぐための断熱材を外表面に有していてもよいし、粘度測定用配管100を支持する支持部を有していてもよい。
粘度測定用配管100の材料は、流通する流体の圧力および温度により変形しにくいものであれば特に限定されない。粘度測定用配管100の材料の例には、機械構造用炭素鋼(S-C材)、構造用合金鋼(マンガン鋼(SMn)、マンガンクロム鋼(SMnC)、クロムモリブデン鋼(SCM)、ニッケルクロム鋼(SNC)、ニッケルクロムモリブデン鋼(SNCM)、アルミニウムクロムモリブデン鋼(SACM)、SKD4、SKD5、SKD6、SKD61、SKD62、SKT2、SKT3、SKT4、SKT5、SKT6、SUS304、SUS309S、SUS316、SUS317、SUS321、SUS347、SUS405、SUS430、SUS410、Hastelloy X、Inconel 600、およびInconel 718など公知の鋼材や合金が含まれる。
また、粘度測定用配管100の全体のサイズは、流通する流体の圧力および温度により変形しにくい程度であれば特に限定されない。たとえば、それぞれの配管の幅Wに対して、同じ位置における粘度測定用配管100の幅の大きさが、1.2倍以上3倍以下とすることができる。
[粘度計]
粘度測定用配管100は、インライン粘度計に用いることができる。以下、粘度測定用配管100を有する粘度計の装置構成および当該粘度計を用いた粘度の測定方法を説明する。

図4は、粘度測定用配管100を有する粘度計400の例示的な構成を示すブロック図である。粘度計400は、粘度測定用配管100を流通する流体の流量を調整するギアポンプ410と、粘度を算出するCPU420とを有する。
ギアポンプ410は、所定の流量で流体を流動させ、粘度測定用配管100の内部を流通させる。本実施形態では、第1の単位配管110、第2の単位配管130および第3の単位配管150を一体的に有する粘度測定用配管100に対し、ギアポンプ410により流体を流動させるため、それぞれの単位配管における流量はすべて同じとなる。それぞれの単位配管を別個に設けて独立して流体を流動させ、単位配管ごとに流量を測定してもよいが、ギアポンプ410により外生的に流量を調整することで、それぞれの単位配管に流量測定機器を設置する必要がなくなり、より精度の高い粘度測定が可能となる。また、ギアポンプ410により外生的に流量を調整することで、それぞれの単位配管における流量がすべて同じになるため、後の計算が容易である。なお、ギアポンプ410は、外生的に流量を調整できるものであればよく、その種類は限定されない。
ギアポンプ410により流動させられた流体は、粘度測定用配管100の内部に導入され、第1の単位配管110、第1の接続配管120、第2の単位配管130、第2の接続配管140、および第3の単位配管150をこの順に流通する。そして、第3の接続配管160から粘度測定用配管100の内部に排出される。このとき、上述した圧力計により、各測定位置での流体の圧力が測定される。
CPU420は、公知の情報処理装置であり、せん断速度算出部422、せん断応力算出部424、補正部426、および粘度算出部428の各機能部を備える。なお、これらの機能部は、以下の処理を行うソフトウェアとしてCPUにインストール可能である。
せん断速度算出部422は、ギアポンプ410から得た流体の流量と、既知であるそれぞれの単位配管のサイズの情報と、をもとに、それぞれの単位配管を流通する流体のせん断速度を算出する。
具体的には、せん断速度算出部422は、キャピラリ型の単位配管(本実施形態では第1の単位配管110)については、当該単位配管の幅Wおよび高さH(幅Wおよび高さHは、いずれも単位配管の直径である)、ならびにギアポンプ410から得た体積流量Qをもとに、式(1)によって当該単位配管における流体のせん断速度を求める。
なお、

また、スリット型の単位配管(本実施形態では第2の単位配管130および第3の単位配管150)については、当該単位配管の幅Wおよび高さH、ならびにギアポンプ410から得た体積流量Qをもとに、式(2)によって当該単位配管における流体のせん断速度を求める。
なお、上述したように、スリット型の単位配管については、WとHとの間には、WはHに対して8倍以上20倍以下が好ましく、8倍以上12倍以下がより好ましいという関係がある。
せん断応力算出部424は、それぞれの単位配管を流通する際の流体の圧力損失ΔPを算出し、当該圧力損失ΔPと、既知であるそれぞれの単位配管のサイズの情報と、をもとに、それぞれの単位配管を流通する際の流体のせん断速度を算出する。
具体的には、本実施形態のように第1の単位配管110から第3の単位配管150へと向かう方向へと流体を流通させるときは、せん断応力算出部424は、粘度測定用配管100に流体が流入する前に配置された圧力計112による圧力の測定値と、第2の単位配管130の上流側に配置された圧力計132による圧力の測定値と、の差を算出して、第1の単位配管110を流通するときの圧力損失ΔPとする。また、第2の単位配管130の上流側に配置された圧力計132による圧力の測定値と、第2の単位配管130の下流側に配置された圧力計134による圧力の測定値と、の差を算出して、第2の単位配管130を流通するときの圧力損失ΔPとする。また、第3の単位配管150の上流側に配置された圧力計152による圧力の測定値と、第3の単位配管150の下流側に配置された圧力計154による圧力の測定値と、の差を算出して、第3の単位配管150を流通するときの圧力損失ΔPとする。
そして、キャピラリ型の単位配管、およびスリット型の単位配管のそれぞれについて、当該単位配管の高さH(キャピラリ型の単位配管については、高さHは、単位配管の直径である)、圧力測定点の間の長さ方向における間隔L(本実施形態では、第1の単位配管110については第1の単位配管110の長さLLを間隔Lとする。第2の単位配管130については圧力計132と圧力計134との間の間隔であり、第3の単位配管150については圧力計152と圧力計154との間の間隔である。)ならびに上記それぞれの単位配管における圧力損失ΔPをもとに、式(3)によってそれぞれの単位配管における流体のせん断応力σを求める。
なお、粘度算出部428は、この、せん断速度算出部422により得られたせん断速度と、せん断応力算出部424により得られたせん断応力σとをもとに、式(4)によってそれぞれの単位配管における(それぞれのせん断速度における)流体の粘度ηを求めてもよい。
このとき求められる粘度は、後述する補正を行っていない、当該流体についてのみかけの粘度となる。
上記みかけの粘度は、流体がニュートン流体であると仮定した計算式によりせん断速度を算出して得られたものである。実際の流体は非ニュートン流体であることがほとんどであるため、上記みかけの粘度は当該流体の粘度を正確に表していないことがある。そこで、本実施形態では、非ニュートン流体についての真の粘度を求めるため、せん断速度算出部422により得られたせん断速度を補正部426により補正する。
具体的には、補正部426は、隣り合う単位配管を単位配管Aおよび単位配管Bとし、単位配管Aにおいて測定されたせん断速度を

非ニュートン流体では、せん断速度とせん断応力との関係が線形ではないので、式(5)の非ニュートン指数nは一定値にはならず、せん断速度依存性がある。
本実施形態では、式(5)の傾きである非ニュートン指数nについて、第1の単位配管110および第2の単位配管130から第1の単位配管110における非ニュートン指数n、ならびに第2の単位配管130および第3の単位配管150の組から、第3の単位配管150における非ニュートン指数nを求めることができる。これら2つのnの移動平均から、第2の単位配管130における非ニュートン指数nを算出する。この非ニュートン指数nを算出して精度の高い真の密度を算出するため、単位配管の数は3つ以上であることが好ましい。単位配管の数が4つ以上の場合も同様の手順によりそれぞれの単位配管における、非ニュートン指数nを算出することが出来る。
そして、補正部426は、キャピラリ型の単位配管については、式(6)によって流体の真のせん断速度を求める。
また、スリット型の単位配管については、式(7)によって流体の真のせん断速度を求める。
なお、真のせん断速度を求めるための上記の補正は、ラビノビッチ補正として公知である。
そして、粘度算出部428は、補正部426により得られた真のせん断速度と、せん断応力算出部424により得られたせん断応力とをもとに、式(8)によってそれぞれの単位配管における(それぞれのせん断速度における)流体の真の粘度ηを求める。
その後、カーブフィッティングにより、それぞれのせん断速度における流体の真の粘度を表す粘度のカーブを得ることで、粘度がせん断速度依存性を有する非ニュートン流体の、各せん断速度における粘度を得ることができる。
このとき、幅広いせん断速度における真の粘度を得る観点からは、せん断速度の最低値と最高値との間に少なくとも100倍程度の差があるような幅広いせん断速度範囲で真の粘度を測定できるようにすることが望ましい。
幅広いせん断速度範囲での粘度の測定をする観点からは、3つの単位配管により粘度を測定する際に、せん断速度が最も遅い単位配管(本実施形態では第3の単位配管150)におけるせん断速度を速度A、せん断速度が最も中間の単位配管(本実施形態では第2の単位配管130)におけるせん断速度を速度B、せん断速度が最も速い単位配管(本実施形態では第1の単位配管110)におけるせん断速度を速度C、としたとき、速度Bは、速度Aの9倍以上50倍以下程度となることが好ましく、速度Cは、速度Bは、速度Aの90倍以上1500倍以下程度となることが好ましい。
上述の粘度測定用配管によれば、このような幅広いせん断速度範囲での粘度の測定が可能である。
上記粘度計を使用した粘度の測定は、高分子の溶融体や、常温で流体であるオイル等の有機物、その他各種の分散体の粘度測定に適用ことができる。これらのうち、粘度の予測困難性が高い高分子の溶融体、特には各種廃プラスチックを溶融混合する際の粘度の測定に、本発明は好適である。
上記高分子は、熱可塑性樹脂であればよく、たとえば、ポリオレフィン樹脂、ポリカーボネート樹脂、熱可塑性ポリエステル樹脂、ABS樹脂、ポリアセタール樹脂、ポリアミド樹脂、ポリフェニレンオキシド樹脂、ポリイミド樹脂、ポリウレタン樹脂、ポリ乳酸樹脂、フラン樹脂、およびシリコーン樹脂などであることができる。ただし、高分子の種類はこれらに限定されない。
これらの熱可塑性樹脂についての定義、製法については、周知であり、たとえば「実用プラスチック事典」(実用プラスチック事典編集委員会編、株式会社産業調査会発行)等の刊行物に記載されている。
上記ポリオレフィン樹脂は特に制限はなく、従来公知のポリオレフィン樹脂を使用することができる。上記ポリオレフィン樹脂の例には、低密度ポリエチレン、直鎖状低密度ポリエチレン、高密度ポリエチレン等のポリエチレン樹脂、ポリプロピレン樹脂、ポリエチレンテレフタレート樹脂、塩化ビニル樹脂(塩素化ポリオレフィン)、エチレン・酢酸ビニル共重合体、エチレン・メタクリル酸アクリレート共重合体などが含まれる。中でも、低密度ポリエチレン、直鎖状低密度ポリエチレン、高密度ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン樹脂が好ましく用いられる。なお、上記ポリエチレン樹脂およびポリプロピレン樹脂は、各種変性体であってもよい。
なお、上記ポリエチレン樹脂は、エチレン単独重合体であってもよいし、エチレン共重合体であってもよい。エチレン共重合体は、エチレンと、1種又は2種以上のα-オレフィンとの共重合体が好ましい。α-オレフィンは、炭素数3以上のα-オレフィンが好ましく、炭素数3~8のα-オレフィンがより好ましい。炭素数3以上のα-オレフィンの例には、プロピレン、1-ブテン、1-ペンテン、1-ヘキセン、1-オクテン、4-メチル-1-ペンテン等が含まれる。
上記ポリプロピレン樹脂の例には、プロピレン単独重合体、プロピレン共重合体等が含まれる。プロピレン共重合体は、プロピレンと、1種又は2種以上のα-オレフィンとの共重合体が好ましい。α-オレフィンは、炭素数2以上(但し炭素数3を除く)のα-オレフィンが好ましく、炭素数2~8(但し炭素数3を除く)のα-オレフィンがより好ましい。炭素数2以上のα-オレフィンの例には、エチレン、1-ブテン、1-ペンテン、1-ヘキセン、1-オクテン、4-メチル-1-ペンテン等が含まれる。
上記ポリカーボネート樹脂は、典型的には、芳香族ジオール(例えばビスフェノールA)とホスゲンとを反応することにより得られる樹脂である。ポリカーボネート樹脂の市販品の例には、三菱化学株式会社製、NOVAREX(「NOVAREX」は同社の登録商標)、帝人化成株式会社製、パンライト(「パンライト」は同社の登録商標)、日本ジーイープラスチックス株式会社製、レキサン(「レキサン」は同社の登録商標)などが含まれる。当然、これらの市販品も本発明に好適に適用可能である。
上記熱可塑性ポリエステル樹脂は、典型的には、ジカルボン酸とジオールとを重縮合させて得られる樹脂である。熱可塑性ポリエステル樹脂の例には、ポリエチレンテレフタレート、ポリブチレンテレフタレート、ポリエチレン2,6-ナフタレンジカルボキシレート、ポリシクロヘキサンテレフタレートなどが含まれる。
上記ABS樹脂は、典型的には、ポリブタジエンにアクリロニトリルおよびスチレンをグラフト重合させて得られる耐衝撃性樹脂である。本発明においては、ポリブタジエン成分が5~40重量%であって、スチレン成分とアクリロニトリル成分の重量比(スチレン/アクリロニトリル)が70/30~80/20であってもよい。
上記ポリアセタール樹脂は、典型的には、ホルマリンあるいはトリオキサンを、所望に応じてエチレンオキサイドと共に、カチオン触媒の存在下に開環重合して得られる樹脂であり、ポリオキシメチレン鎖を主骨格とする樹脂である。本発明においては、コポリマータイプのものが好ましい。
上記ポリアミド樹脂は、典型的には、ジアミンとジカルボン酸との重縮合、あるいはカプロラクタムの開環重合等により得られる樹脂である。本発明においては、脂肪族ジアミンと脂肪族または芳香族ジカルボン酸の重縮合反応物が好ましい。
上記ポリフェニレンオキシド樹脂は、典型的には、2,6-ジメチルフェノールを銅触媒の存在下に酸化カップリングさせて得られる。さらにこれを変性した変性ポリフェニレンオキシド樹脂も、本発明において用いることができる。
[その他の実施形態]
なお、上述の各実施形態はそれぞれ本発明の一例を示すものであり、本発明は上述の各実施形態に限定されるものではなく、本発明の思想の範囲内において、他の種々多様な各実施形態も可能であることは言うまでもない。

以下において、実施例および比較例を参照して本発明をさらに詳しく説明する。なお、これらの実施例および比較例によって、本発明の範囲は限定して解釈されない。
[第1の実験]
サイズが異なる3つの単位配管を組み合わせた粘度測定用配管を用意した。この粘度測定用配管を用いて、サイズが小さい単位配管からサイズが大きい単位配管のへと順に流体を流通させるとき(本発明)と、サイズが大きい単位配管からサイズが小さい単位配管へと順に流体を流通させるとき(特許文献1参照)とを比較して、得られる粘度の測定値の精度がどのように異なるかを調べた。
サイズが異なる3つの単位配管を組み合わせた粘度測定用配管を用意した。この粘度測定用配管を用いて、サイズが小さい単位配管からサイズが大きい単位配管のへと順に流体を流通させるとき(本発明)と、サイズが大きい単位配管からサイズが小さい単位配管へと順に流体を流通させるとき(特許文献1参照)とを比較して、得られる粘度の測定値の精度がどのように異なるかを調べた。
1.粘度計測用配管
図1~図3に記載の粘度計測用配管1と、各位置における単位配管の種類が異なる粘度計測用配管2と、を用意した。図5は、粘度計測用配管2の構成を示す模式図であり、図6は、粘度測定用配管2を構成する第1のプレート210および第2のプレート220の、それぞれと向かい合う面の様子を示す模式図である。これらの粘度計測用配管に溶融樹脂を流通したときの、それぞれの単位配管におけるせん断応力の測定値を実測した。
図1~図3に記載の粘度計測用配管1と、各位置における単位配管の種類が異なる粘度計測用配管2と、を用意した。図5は、粘度計測用配管2の構成を示す模式図であり、図6は、粘度測定用配管2を構成する第1のプレート210および第2のプレート220の、それぞれと向かい合う面の様子を示す模式図である。これらの粘度計測用配管に溶融樹脂を流通したときの、それぞれの単位配管におけるせん断応力の測定値を実測した。
粘度計測用配管1は、流体の長さ方向に沿って、キャピラリ型の単位配管(第1の単位配管)、スリット型の単位配管(第2の単位配管)、およびスリット型の単位配管(第3の単位配管)が配置された構成であり、それぞれの単位配管のサイズは表1に記載の通りである。なお、キャピラリ型の第1の単位配管の幅W1および高さH1は、いずれも第1の単位配管の流路の直径である。粘度計測用配管1の全体形状は、全長300mm、全幅100mm、全高70mmの箱状であり、上下2枚のプレートを組み合わせた形状をしていた。上下プレートのそれぞれには、組み合わせたときに下記形状およびサイズの配管が形成されるような溝部が、表面に形成されていた。粘度計測用配管の流入口より以前の流路内に圧力計P0を、第2の単位配管に圧力計P1およびP2を、第3の単位配管に圧力計P3およびP4を、それぞれ配置した。
粘度計測用配管2は、流体の長さ方向に沿って、スリット型の単位配管(第1の単位配管)、キャピラリ型の単位配管(第2の単位配管)、およびキャピラリ型の単位配管(第3の単位配管)が配置された構成であり、それぞれの単位配管のサイズは表2に記載の通りである。なお、キャピラリ型の第2の単位配管の幅W2および高さH2は、いずれも第2の単位配管の流路の直径である。また、キャピラリ型の第3の単位配管の幅W3および高さH3は、いずれも第3の単位配管の流路の直径である。粘度計測用配管2の全体形状は、長さ350mm、全幅180mm、全高160mmの上下2枚のプレートを組み合わせた箱状と、外形φ70mmの長さ350mmの円管が接続された形状となっている。箱状部分の上下プレートのそれぞれには、組み合わせたときに第1の単位配管と第2の単位配管が下記形状およびサイズの配管が形成されるような溝部が、表面に形成されており、第3の単位配管は箱状部分にフランジで接続された円管部分で構成される。第1の単位配管のスリットの流入口側と出口側にそれぞれ圧力計P0とP1を、第2の単位配管に圧力計P2およびP3を、第3の単位配管に圧力計P4およびP5を、それぞれ配置した。このように圧力計を6本用いることは理想的であるが、P3とP4の圧力差は大きくはないため、P3あるいはP4のどちらかを省略し、圧力計を5本として、補正係数αを実測に合うように決定し、P3=αP4として扱っても構わない。
2.シミュレーション結果との比較
2-1.実験条件
上記の粘度計測用配管1に、JIS K 7210に準じて230℃、荷重2160gの条件で測定されたメルトフローレートが9.0のポリプロピレン単独重合体を、第1の単位配管側から第3の単位配管側に向けて、230℃で流通させた。上記ポリプロピレン単独重合体は、テクノベル株式会社製の2軸押出機(KZW15TW-45MG-NH)にゼニス社製のギアポンプ(PEP-II-0.6cc)を接続し、シリンダを6ゾーンで180℃、200℃、230℃、230℃、230℃、230℃に設定し、スクリュー回転数を100rpm、ギアポンプは流量を30rpm(0.2398cc/s)および60rpm(0.4797cc/s)の2つの条件として、それぞれ、溶融したポリプロピレン単独重合体を流すようにして押し出した。このポリプロピレン単独重合体の圧力を、ギアポンプに接続した上記粘度計測用配管で測定する条件とした。
2-1.実験条件
上記の粘度計測用配管1に、JIS K 7210に準じて230℃、荷重2160gの条件で測定されたメルトフローレートが9.0のポリプロピレン単独重合体を、第1の単位配管側から第3の単位配管側に向けて、230℃で流通させた。上記ポリプロピレン単独重合体は、テクノベル株式会社製の2軸押出機(KZW15TW-45MG-NH)にゼニス社製のギアポンプ(PEP-II-0.6cc)を接続し、シリンダを6ゾーンで180℃、200℃、230℃、230℃、230℃、230℃に設定し、スクリュー回転数を100rpm、ギアポンプは流量を30rpm(0.2398cc/s)および60rpm(0.4797cc/s)の2つの条件として、それぞれ、溶融したポリプロピレン単独重合体を流すようにして押し出した。このポリプロピレン単独重合体の圧力を、ギアポンプに接続した上記粘度計測用配管で測定する条件とした。
(実施例1)
粘度測定用配管1の第1の単位配管から第3の単位配管へと上記ポリプロピレン単独重合体を流動させて、圧力計P0~P4における圧力値を測定した。このとき、P0にはフルスケールが20MPaの圧力計である、Dynisco社製のNP462-1/2-15-45を使用し、P1~P4にはフルスケールが3.5MPaの圧力計である、Dynisco社製のNP462-1/2-3.5MPa-15-45を使用した。圧力の測定は、ギアポンプの流量を30rpm(0.2398cc/s)としたとき、および60rpm(0.4797cc/s)としたときのそれぞれについて行った。
粘度測定用配管1の第1の単位配管から第3の単位配管へと上記ポリプロピレン単独重合体を流動させて、圧力計P0~P4における圧力値を測定した。このとき、P0にはフルスケールが20MPaの圧力計である、Dynisco社製のNP462-1/2-15-45を使用し、P1~P4にはフルスケールが3.5MPaの圧力計である、Dynisco社製のNP462-1/2-3.5MPa-15-45を使用した。圧力の測定は、ギアポンプの流量を30rpm(0.2398cc/s)としたとき、および60rpm(0.4797cc/s)としたときのそれぞれについて行った。
(比較例1)
粘度測定用配管1の第3の単位配管から第1の単位配管へと上記ポリプロピレン単独重合体を流動させて、圧力計P1~P4、および第3の単位配管の前端部に設定したP5における圧力値を測定した。P5にはフルスケールが20MPaの圧力計である、Dynisco社製のNP462-1/2-15-45を使用し、P1~P4にはフルスケールが10MPaの圧力計である、Dynisco社製のNP462-1/2-10MPa-15-45を使用した。圧力の測定は、ギアポンプの流量を30rpm(0.2398cc/s)としたとき、および60rpm(0.4797cc/s)としたときのそれぞれについて行った。なお、実施例1と比較例1との間で、P1~P4に使用した圧力計を変更したのは、比較例ではP1~P4における圧力が3.5Mpaを大きく超え、圧力計のフルスケールをレンジオーバーしてしまうためである。実施例1では、より精度よく圧力を測定するため、フルスケールが小さい圧力計をP1~P4に使用した。
粘度測定用配管1の第3の単位配管から第1の単位配管へと上記ポリプロピレン単独重合体を流動させて、圧力計P1~P4、および第3の単位配管の前端部に設定したP5における圧力値を測定した。P5にはフルスケールが20MPaの圧力計である、Dynisco社製のNP462-1/2-15-45を使用し、P1~P4にはフルスケールが10MPaの圧力計である、Dynisco社製のNP462-1/2-10MPa-15-45を使用した。圧力の測定は、ギアポンプの流量を30rpm(0.2398cc/s)としたとき、および60rpm(0.4797cc/s)としたときのそれぞれについて行った。なお、実施例1と比較例1との間で、P1~P4に使用した圧力計を変更したのは、比較例ではP1~P4における圧力が3.5Mpaを大きく超え、圧力計のフルスケールをレンジオーバーしてしまうためである。実施例1では、より精度よく圧力を測定するため、フルスケールが小さい圧力計をP1~P4に使用した。
(シミュレーション)
樹脂の種類、押出条件、および温度条件を上記実測時と同様に設定して、粘度計測用配管1および粘度計測用配管2の内部における圧力を、scFLOW(MSCソフトウェア/ヘキサゴングループ)を用いてシミュレーションした。

また、図7には、比較例1における圧力計P1~P5の測定値を、ギアポンプの流量を0.2398cc/sとしたとき、および0.4797cc/sとしたときのそれぞれについてプロットし、同時に、同じ条件としたときのシミュレーション結果を示す。シミュレーション結果は、ギアポンプの流量を0.2398cc/sとしたときの結果を実線で示し、ギアポンプの流量を0.4797cc/sの結果を破線で示している。
図7に示すように、実施例1の測定結果はシミュレーション結果とほぼ一致していたが、比較例1の測定結果はシミュレーション結果からの乖離が大きかった。これは、比較例1ではサイズが大きい第3の単位配管における信号の大きさが、電源に由来するホワイトノイズに近いレベルとなり、正しく信号を計測できないためだと考えられる。
また、比較例1の測定結果およびシミュレーション結果はいずれも、各測定点における圧力がいずれも高い値を示していた。これは、最初に圧力を測定した圧力計P0における圧力損失が大きすぎたため、他の測定点における測定結果がP0における結果に引きずられて見えにくくなっていたためだと考えられる。図7から明らかなように、比較例1では各測定点における圧力の差が小さく、圧力差の精度よい測定が困難である。
図8に、粘度測定用配管2のシミュレーションの結果を示す。
図8には、粘度測定用配管2に、ギアポンプの流量を18.366cc/s(50kg/h相当の吐出量)として上記ポリプロピレン単独重合体を順流(実施例相当)および逆流(比較例相当)に流したときの圧力計P0~P5の測定値のシミュレーション結果を実線で示す。
図7と同様に順流では、低せん断速度側の配管に複合誤差の小さいフルスケールの小さい圧力計を使用できるため、ホワイトノイズの影響が小さいことが予想されるが、逆流では低せん断速度側の配管にフルスケールの大きい圧力計を使用しなければならないため、ノイズの影響が懸念され、測定精度が劣ることが予想される。
3.実験結果のばらつき
3-1.実験条件
「2.シミュレーション結果との比較」の実施例1および比較例1と同じ条件で、上記粘度測定用配管に、溶融した上記ポリプロピレン単独重合体を流通させ、各地点における粘度を実測した。

上記粘度測定を15分間連続して行い、1秒ごとにサンプリングを行った。流入口からの距離が略同様となる、実施例1における圧力計P1と圧力計P2との間の実測値の差ΔP、および比較例1における圧力計P4と圧力計P3との間の実測値の差ΔPについて、変動率(標準偏差/平均値)を、ギアポンプの流量を0.2398cc/sとしたとき、および0.4797cc/sのそれぞれについて求めた。

表3に、実施例1および比較例1における、ギアポンプの流量を0.2398cc/sとしたとき、および0.4797cc/sとしたときのそれぞれにおけるΔPの変動率を示す。

表2に示すように、実施例1では変動率が小さく、測定結果のばらつきが小さかったが、比較例1では変動率が大きく、測定結果のばらつきが大きかった。比較例1ではサイズが大きい第3の単位配管においてノイズが発生しやすかったためだと考えられる。
4.せん断粘度のせん断速度依存性
4-1.実験条件
上記ポリプロピレン単独重合体を2枚のパラレルプレートで挟み、170℃から250℃まで温度を20℃ずつ変化させながら、一方のパラレルプレートを回転駆動させ、TAインスツルメンツ社製のレオメータ(DHR-3)を用いて、周波数ω=0.1~500rad/sの範囲で線形粘弾性関数の周波数分散を測定した。得られた結果から、230℃を基準温度として時間-温度換算則によりマスターカーブを得た。Cox-Merzの経験則が成り立つと仮定して、複素粘度の周波数依存性を示す上記マスターカーブを、定常流のせん断粘度のせん断速度依存性だとみなした。
4-1.実験条件
上記ポリプロピレン単独重合体を2枚のパラレルプレートで挟み、170℃から250℃まで温度を20℃ずつ変化させながら、一方のパラレルプレートを回転駆動させ、TAインスツルメンツ社製のレオメータ(DHR-3)を用いて、周波数ω=0.1~500rad/sの範囲で線形粘弾性関数の周波数分散を測定した。得られた結果から、230℃を基準温度として時間-温度換算則によりマスターカーブを得た。Cox-Merzの経験則が成り立つと仮定して、複素粘度の周波数依存性を示す上記マスターカーブを、定常流のせん断粘度のせん断速度依存性だとみなした。
実施例1および比較例1で得られた実測値にラビノビッチ補正を行い、真の粘度を得た。上記定常流のせん断粘度のせん断速度依存性を示すカーブ上に、ラビノビッチ補正を行って得た真の粘度をプロットした。
図9Aは、上記カーブ上に、実施例1の結果をプロットした結果である。図9Bは、上記カーブ上に、比較例1の結果をプロットした結果である。なお、図9Aにおいて、黒丸はギアポンプの流量を0.2398cc/sとしたときの真の粘度を、ドット付きの丸はギアポンプの流量を0.4797cc/sとしたときの真の粘度を、それぞれ示す。また、図9Bにおいて、×印はギアポンプの流量を0.2398cc/sとしたときの真の粘度を、四角はアポンプの流量を0.4797cc/sとしたときの真の粘度を、それぞれ示す。
図10Aは、上記カーブ上に、粘度測定用配管2の順流のシミュレーション結果をプロットした結果である。図10Bは、上記カーブ上に、粘度測定用配管2の逆流のシミュレーション結果をプロットした結果である。圧力レンジが0―10MPa、複合誤差が±5%ある物として、各配管の圧力差が+5%の値、-5%の値から求めた粘度をエラーバーとして示す。
図9Aおよび図9B、ならびに図9Aおよび図9Bに示すように、実施例1で得られた粘度は、上記カーブと一致していたが、比較例1で得られた粘度は、上記カーブからの乖離が大きかった。また粘度測定用配管2の逆流においては、複合誤差によるバラツキの影響が大きかった。
4-2.結果
図7、図8、表2、図9Aおよび図9B、ならびに図10Aおよび図10Bに示す結果から、サイズが小さい単位配管からサイズが大きい単位配管のへと順に流体を流通させることで、サイズが大きい単位配管からサイズが小さい単位配管へと順に流体を流通させるときと比較して、得られる粘度の測定値の精度が各段に向上することがわかる。また、図9Aおよび図9B、ならびに図10Aおよび図10Bに示す結果から、上述した(A)~(D)を満たすような、一方から他方へとサイズが大きくなっていく(条件(B)は除く)単位配管に流体を流通させることで、幅広いせん断速度範囲(たとえば1kg/h、10kg/h、100kg/hおよび500kg/h)での粘度測定が可能になることがわかる。
図7、図8、表2、図9Aおよび図9B、ならびに図10Aおよび図10Bに示す結果から、サイズが小さい単位配管からサイズが大きい単位配管のへと順に流体を流通させることで、サイズが大きい単位配管からサイズが小さい単位配管へと順に流体を流通させるときと比較して、得られる粘度の測定値の精度が各段に向上することがわかる。また、図9Aおよび図9B、ならびに図10Aおよび図10Bに示す結果から、上述した(A)~(D)を満たすような、一方から他方へとサイズが大きくなっていく(条件(B)は除く)単位配管に流体を流通させることで、幅広いせん断速度範囲(たとえば1kg/h、10kg/h、100kg/hおよび500kg/h)での粘度測定が可能になることがわかる。
[第2の実験]
サイズが異なる3つの単位配管を組み合わせた粘度測定用配管について、互いに異なる3つのせん断速度を得るためのそれぞれの単位配管のサイズを調べた。このとき、せん断速度の最低値と最高値との間に少なくとも100倍程度の差が生じるように、それぞれの単位配管のサイズを調整した。なお、第1の実験の結果に基づき、上記3つの単位配管は、サイズが小さい単位配管からサイズが大きい単位配管のへと順に流体を流通させるように配置した。
サイズが異なる3つの単位配管を組み合わせた粘度測定用配管について、互いに異なる3つのせん断速度を得るためのそれぞれの単位配管のサイズを調べた。このとき、せん断速度の最低値と最高値との間に少なくとも100倍程度の差が生じるように、それぞれの単位配管のサイズを調整した。なお、第1の実験の結果に基づき、上記3つの単位配管は、サイズが小さい単位配管からサイズが大きい単位配管のへと順に流体を流通させるように配置した。
1.条件
第1の実験で用いたポリプロピレン単独重合体を230℃で溶融させて流通すると仮定した。上記ポリプロピレン単独重合体の、以下に示す測定条件および測定方法で測定した230℃における密度は、0.76g/ccであった。

(密度の測定方法)
約0.75gのサンプルを装置の測定シリンダにセットし、260℃に昇温し、圧力20MPaに設定し、5℃/minの冷却速度で30℃まで冷却しながら密度を測定した。この手順で、40MPa、60MPa、80MPa、120MPaにて同様の測定を行い、230℃における各圧力の比容積から0.1MPaの圧力に外挿して、230℃における比容積を得た。密度は比容積の逆数であり、計算すると0.76g/ccであった。
約0.75gのサンプルを装置の測定シリンダにセットし、260℃に昇温し、圧力20MPaに設定し、5℃/minの冷却速度で30℃まで冷却しながら密度を測定した。この手順で、40MPa、60MPa、80MPa、120MPaにて同様の測定を行い、230℃における各圧力の比容積から0.1MPaの圧力に外挿して、230℃における比容積を得た。密度は比容積の逆数であり、計算すると0.76g/ccであった。
(単位配管のサイズの決定方法)
流量を1kg/h、10kg/h、50kg/hおよび500kg/hとしたときの全てに対応でき、かつ、第1の単位配管から第3の単位配管に向かう方向に沿ってせん断速度が100/sec、10/sec、および1/secとなるような、単位配管のサイズを計算により算出した。また、粘度測定用配管の全体の体積がなるべく小さくなるように、それぞれの単位配管のサイズ(および実施例2における単位配管の組み合わせ)を決定した。
流量を1kg/h、10kg/h、50kg/hおよび500kg/hとしたときの全てに対応でき、かつ、第1の単位配管から第3の単位配管に向かう方向に沿ってせん断速度が100/sec、10/sec、および1/secとなるような、単位配管のサイズを計算により算出した。また、粘度測定用配管の全体の体積がなるべく小さくなるように、それぞれの単位配管のサイズ(および実施例2における単位配管の組み合わせ)を決定した。
2.結果

表4に示すように、比較例2の配置では、単位配管の幅が非常に大きくなり、かつ単位配管の幅が最小のものと最大のものとの間の幅の差が非常に大きくなることがわかる(表4中、太字下線部)。この結果、粘度測定用配管の全体の重量が大きくなってしまったり、粘度測定用配管中に流路となっていない不要なデッドボリュームが広く発生してしまったりするなどの問題が生じると推測される。

表6に示すように、比較例4の配置でもなお、単位配管の幅が全体的に大きくなることがわかる(表6中、太字下線部)。この結果、粘度測定用配管の全体の重量が大きくなってしまったり、粘度測定用配管中に流路となっていない不要なデッドボリュームが広く発生してしまったりするなどの問題が生じる。また、表6に示すように、比較例4の配置では、流速を1kg/hとするときの第1の単位配管の高さHが1.3mmと非常に小さくなる。このような高さが小さいスリット型の単位配管は、製造時に幅方向に対する高さ方向の角度を直角にするのが困難であり、また流通する樹脂の圧力により上下のプレートの合わせ面が口開きしてしまう可能性がある。
(比較例5)
3つの単位配管をすべてキャピラリ型とし、直径(幅Wおよび高さH)がいずれも大きくなっていく形状(特許文献3の図6参照)としたときの計算結果を表7に示す。

表7に示すように、比較例5の配置では、流量を少なくしたときに、配管の幅Wおよび高さHがいずれも極めて小さくなる(表7中、太字下線部)。このような小さいサイズでは、配管内への圧力計の設置が非常に困難であり、粘度の測定が実用的ではない。
(実施例2)
3つの単位配管をキャピラリ型とスリット型との組み合わせとし、幅Wおよび高さH(キャピラリ型については直径)がいずれも大きくなっていく形状としたときの計算結果を表8に示す。なお、スリット型の単位配管については、幅Wが高さHの10倍となるようにサイズを決定した。

表8に示すように、3つの単位配管をキャピラリ型とスリット型との組み合わせとすることで、粘度測定用配管の全体のサイズを大きすぎない範囲にできることがわかる。なお、流量を1kg/hとしたときに、第1の単位配管であるキャピラリ型の配管の直径が1.54mmとなっているが、このときは、第1の単位配管に配置した圧力計P0と第2の単位配管に配置した圧力計P1との間の圧力差により、第1の単位配管における圧力損失を求め、この圧力損失をもとにせん断応力を算出できることは、前述した通りである。
また、表8に示すように、流量を少なくするときは、第1の単位配管から第3の単位配管へと向かう方向に沿って、キャピラリ型の単位配管、スリット型の単位配管、スリット型の単位配管、の順に配置すると、全体形状を小さくしつつ、サイズが小さい第1の単位配管をキャピラリ型としたことにより、第1の単位配管に圧力計を配置しにくいという問題を、スリット型であり圧力計を配置しやすい第2の単位配管によって解消することができる。
また、表8に示すように、流量を大きくするときは、最も下流側にキャピラリ型の単位配管を配置することにより、つまり、スリット型の単位配管、スリット型の単位配管、キャピラリ型の単位配管という配置、またはスリット型の単位配管、キャピラリ型の単位配管、キャピラリ型の単位配管という配置にすることで、粘度測定用配管の全体のサイズを小さくすることができる。
3.結果
表4~表8に示す結果から、スリット型の単位配管とキャピラリ型の単位配管とを組み合わせることで、粘度測定用配管の全体のサイズを適当な範囲に設定できることがわかる。

本発明の混練装置によれば、粘度がせん断速度依存性を示す非ニュートン性流体について、幅広いせん断速度における粘度を一度に測定できる。本発明は、各種流体の粘度測定に有用である。

Claims (20)
- 流体の粘度測定用配管であって、
いずれも流通する前記流体の圧力を測定可能な、キャピラリ型の単位配管と、スリット型の単位配管とを含む、複数の単位配管が連続して配置された粘度測定用配管であって、
前記スリット型の単位配管の幅方向への流路の長さを、前記粘度測定用配管に含まれる各単位配管の幅とし、前記スリット型の単位配管の厚み方向への流路の長さを、前記粘度測定用配管に含まれる各単位配管の高さとし、前記幅方向および厚み方向のいずれとも直交する方向を長さ方向とし、
前記複数の単位配管のうちの連続する単位配管について、前記長さ方向の一方側に配置された単位配管を第1の単位配管とし、前記長さ方向の他方側に配置された単位配管を第2の単位配管とし、
前記第1の単位配管の幅をW1、高さをH1とし、
前記第2の単位配管の幅をW2、高さをH2としたとき、
以下の関係が常に満たされる、
粘度測定用配管。
(A)第1の単位配管がキャピラリ型の単位配管であり、第2の単位配管がスリット型の単位配管であるとき、H2/H1は1よりも大きく、W2/W1は1よりも大きい
(B)第1の単位配管がスリット型の単位配管であり、第2の単位配管がキャピラリ型の単位配管であるとき、H2/H1は1よりも大きく、W2/W1は1よりも小さい
(C)第1の単位配管がスリット型の単位配管であり、第2の単位配管がスリット型の単位配管であるとき、H2/H1は1よりも大きく、W2/W1は1よりも大きい
(D)第1の単位配管がキャピラリ型の単位配管であり、第2の単位配管がキャピラリ型の単位配管であるとき、H2/H1は1よりも大きく、W2/W1は1よりも大きい - 前記複数の単位配管は、3つ以上の前記単位配管を含む、請求項1に記載の粘度測定用配管。
- 前記複数の単位配管は、長さ方向に沿って、キャピラリ型の単位配管、スリット型の単位配管、スリット型の単位配管、の順に配置されている、請求項1または2に記載の粘度測定用配管。

- 第1の単位配管がキャピラリ型の単位配管であり、第2の単位配管がスリット型の単位配管である第1の単位配管と第2の単位配管との組み合わせを有し、前記第1の単位配管と第2の単位配管との組み合わせにおいて、H2/H1は1.1以上であり、W2/W1は10以上である、請求項1、2および4のいずれか1項に記載の粘度測定用配管。
- 前記長さ方向への流路の長さを、前記粘度測定用配管に含まれる各単位配管の長さとし、

- 請求項1~14のいずれか1項に記載の粘度測定用配管を流通する流体の粘度を測定する方法であって、
前記キャピラリ型の単位配管および前記スリット型の単位配管のそれぞれについて、前記流体のせん断速度およびせん断応力を求め、
前記キャピラリ型の単位配管および前記スリット型の単位配管において、前記せん断速度および前記せん断応力から、前記流体のせん断粘度ηを求める、
粘度の測定方法。 - 前記複数の単位配管は、3つ以上の前記単位配管を含み、
