Abstract

A pen needle includes a housing and a needle hub received in the housing, where the needle hub includes a needle with a proximal end and a distal end, where the distal end of the needle extends from a distal end of the housing. The pen needle includes a distal needle shield received in the housing, where the distal needle shield is configured to move from a retracted position, where the distal end of the needle is exposed, to an extended position, where the distal end of the needle is covered, and where the distal needle shield is configured to contact a surface of the needle hub by movement from the retracted position to the extended position to rotate the distal needle shield from a first angular position to a second angular position.
