The invention provides an adapter, suitable for transferring a solid state disk (SSD) compliant with M.2 2230 specification into a memory card compatible with CFexpress Type B specification. The adapter comprises at least an adapter metal housing, an adapter circuit body and design/device for installing the adapter housing (at least comprising the adapter metal housing) and the adapter circuit body. The adapter designs provided by the invention are based on stacked and electrical connections of multi circuit boards, which hugely simplifies the requirements of CFexpress Type B standard on the design of the housing, so that the external contact interface requirements of CFexpress Type B are met with low cost. The cost of transferring the M.2 2230SSD into a memory card compatible with CFexpress Type B specification and various stress specifications is reduced.

Description

Adapter transferring SSD into CFexpress Type B card Technical Field
The present invention relates to an adapter, which is suitable for transferring a solid state disk (SSD) compliant with M.2 2230 specification into a memory card compatible with CFexpress Type B specification.
Background Art
Both the CFexpress memory card and the M.2 solid state disk are designed with PCIe bus, running the NVMe protocol, but in different physical package forms. Specifically, the size of each direction of CFexpress Type B specification is greater than the corresponding size of the M.2 2230 specification, make it possible to transfer a M.2 2230 SSD into a memory card compatible with the CFexpress Type B specification.
Technical Problem
​In addition to the design to be protected by the present invention, there are 2 kind known related adapters: the same housing as the commercially available CFexpress Type B memory card, without changing or slightly modifying, and forcibly plugging the M.2 2230 SSD through the adapter circuit board, since there is a great difference in the setting target of the M.2 2230 specification and the CFexpress Type B specification, the M.2 2230 SSD will have even slight bending, and thereby generate an undesirable stress concentration; and the other is designed according to the outline of the standard CFexpress Type B housing, so that it can be suitable for installing the adapter circuit board and the M.2 2230 SSD, however these housing must be produced by high-cost methods such as CNC, injection molding, die casting or powder metallurgy. One significant feature of the above 2 designs is that they both use a single adapter circuit board as one layer to accommodate the size requirements of CFexpress Type B specification in external contact interface through the housing, while this will generate an undesirable stress concentration or hugely increase the cost.
Technical Solution
An adapter according to one aspect of the present invention, suitable for transferring a solid state disk (SSD) compliant with M.2 2230 specification into a memory card compatible with CFexpress Type B specification, comprises at least:an adapter metal housing having one or more through holes facilitating installation and fixation of the entire adapter, the adapter housing comprises the adapter metal housing at least; an adapter circuit body having at least one M.2 connector for SSD, one or more CFexpress Type B connection plates disposed above the component surface side of the main printed circuit board (PCB), and the adapter circuit body further fixing one or more nuts by welding or gluing for mounting the adapter housing; andone or more screws for mounting the adapter housing and the adapter circuit body.

An adapter according to one aspect of the present invention, suitable for transferring a solid state disk (SSD) compliant with M.2 2230 specification into a memory card compatible with CFexpress Type B specification, comprises at least: an adapter metal housing having one or more mounted nuts facilitating installation and fixation of the entire adapter, the adapter housing comprises the adapter metal housing at least; an adapter circuit body having at least one M.2 connector for SSD, one or more CFexpress Type B connection plates disposed above the component surface side of the main printed circuit board (PCB), and the adapter circuit body is provided with one or more through holes for mounting the adapter housing; andone or more screws for mounting the adapter housing and the adapter circuit body.
An adapter according to one aspect of the present invention, suitable for transferring a solid state disk (SSD) compliant with M.2 2230 specification into a memory card compatible with CFexpress Type B specification, comprises at least: an adapter metal housing having mounting buckle design thereon, the adapter housing comprises the adapter metal housing at least; and an adapter circuit body having at least one M.2 connector for SSD, one or more CFexpress Type B connection plates disposed above the component surface side of the main printed circuit board (PCB), and the adapter circuit body may further have a corresponding design for matching the adapter metal housing mounting buckle.
An adapter according to one aspect of the present invention, suitable for transferring a solid state disk (SSD) compliant with M.2 2230 specification into a memory card compatible with CFexpress Type B specification, comprises at least: an adapter metal housing having mounting buckle design thereon, the adapter housing comprises the adapter metal housing at least; and an adapter circuit body having at least one M.2 connector for SSD, one or more CFexpress Type B connection plates disposed above the component surface side of the main printed circuit board (PCB), and the adapter circuit body is further fixed with corresponding parts by welding or gluing to buckle the adapter housing, and the adapter circuit body may further have a corresponding design matched with the adapter metal housing mounting buckle.
An adapter according to one aspect of the present invention, suitable for transferring a solid state disk (SSD) compliant with M.2 2230 specification into a memory card compatible with CFexpress Type B specification, comprises at least: an adapter metal housing having a mounting limit design thereon for limiting parallel movement of the adapter metal housing and the adapter circuit body on a contact surface thereof, the adapter housing comprises the adapter metal housing at least; and an adapter circuit body having at least one M.2 connector for SSD, one or more CFexpress Type B connection plates disposed above the component surface side of the main printed circuit board (PCB), one or more magnet with arbitrary materials and shapes (used for adsorbing the adapter metal housing) is further fixed on the adapter circuit body by welding or gluing, and the adapter circuit body may further have a corresponding design for matching with the limit design of the adapter metal housing.
​Further, the adapters according to aspects of the present invention, wherein one or more through holes on the adapter metal housing and the adapter circuit body may be a whole circle, a partial circle, a square or any other shape, and may not be the same.
Further, the adapters according to aspects of the present invention, wherein one or more screws used therein may be any external thread-containing structure with complete or partial threads, and may be different; the threads on the one or more nuts and one or more screw holes corresponding to the one or more screws, may be complete or partial threads of any length, including through holes with suitable thickness and suitable shape, and (the nuts and screw holes) may be different; and the shape of the one or more nuts may be any structure with internal thread, and may be different.
Further, the adapters according to aspects of the present invention, wherein the outer and inner surfaces of the adapter metal housing may be covered with one or more layers of any material, any thickness, and any shape partially or completely; the component surface and the bottom surface of the main printed circuit board (PCB) of the adapter circuit body may be covered with one or more layers of any material, any thickness, and any shape partially or completely, and the layer or layers covering the component surface of the main PCB of the adapter circuit body may serve as a middle part of the adapter housing, the layer or layers covering the bottom surface of the main PCB of the adapter circuit body may serve as a bottom of the adapter housing.
Further, the adapters according to aspects of the present invention, wherein the adapter metal housing may be designed to partially or not cover the pins of CFexpress Type B interface of the adapter circuit body, completely or partially cover the component surface of the main printed circuit board (PCB) of the adapter circuit body, completely or partially or not cover the side surfaces and the bottom surface of the main PCB of the adapter circuit body.
Further, the adapters according to aspects of the present invention, wherein one or more CFexpress Type B connecting plates placed on the component surface side of the main printed circuit board (PCB) of the adapter circuit body may be welded to the component surface of the main PCB of the adapter circuit body directly, or welded to the component surface or the bottom surface of the main PCB of the adapter circuit body through one or more flexible printed circuit (FPC).
Further, the adapters according to aspects of the present invention, wherein when there are more than one CFexpress Type B connection plates disposed above the component surface side of the main printed circuit board (PCB) of the adapter circuit body, these CFexpress Type B connection plates may be placed in a same plane, vertically stacked, or both.
Advantageous Effects
Since these designs of the present invention are based on stacked and electrical connections of multi circuit boards, the external contact interface requirements of CFexpress Type B are met with low cost. These designs also hugely simplify the requirements of CFexpress Type B standard on the design of the housing, reduces the cost of transferring the M.2 2230SSD into a memory card compatible with CFexpress Type B specification and various stress specifications, so the adapter afford a solution giving consideration to stability, safety, performance and cost.

Mode for Invention
Referring to FIG. 1A, FIG. 1B, FIG. 1C, which shows the first embodiment of the present invention, the adapter thereof transfers a M.2 2230 SSD 5 into a memory card compatible with CFexpress Type B specification. The adapter comprises at least an adapter metal housing 31 (included in the adapter housing), an adapter circuit body 81, and four screws 61. The adapter metal housing 31 is provided with four through holes 310 which facilitate installation and fixation of the entire adapter, and at least one M.2 connector 802 for SSD 5, a CFexpress Type B connecting plate 801 which is placed on the component surface 8001 of the main printed circuit board 810 and four nuts 813 used for installing the adapter housing are welded on the adapter circuit body 81. Referring to FIG. 1A, when the adapter is used, the first step is to insert the M.2 2230 SSD 5 (SSD 5 not belonging to the adapter example) into the M.2 connector 802 above the component surface 8001 of the main printed circuit board 810 of the adapter circuit body 81; the second step is to place the adapter metal housing 31 on the component surface 8001 of the main printed circuit board 810 of the adapter circuit body 81; and the third step is to tighten the four screws 61 and the four nuts 813 fixed on the main printed circuit board 810 of the adapter circuit body 81.​ Referring to FIG. 1B and FIG. 1C, contact pins 8011 on the CFexpress Type B connecting plate 801 of the adapter circuit body 81 will communicate with the CFexpress Type B standard electrical connection interface.
Referring to FIG. 2A, FIG. 2B, FIG. 2C, which shows the second embodiment of the present invention, the adapter thereof transfers a M.2 2230 SSD 5 into a memory card compatible with CFexpress Type B specification. The adapter comprises at least an adapter metal housing 32 (included in the adapter housing), an adapter circuit body 82, and four nuts 62. The adapter metal housing 32 is provided with four through holes 320 which facilitate installation and fixation of the entire adapter, and at least one M.2 connector 802 for SSD 5, a CFexpress Type B connecting plate 801 which is placed on the component surface 8001 of the main printed circuit board 820 and four screws 823 used for installing the adapter housing are welded on the adapter circuit body 82. Referring to FIG. 2A, when the adapter is used, the first step is to insert the M.2 2230 SSD 5 (SSD 5 not belonging to the adapter example) into the M.2 connector 802 above the component surface 8001 of the main printed circuit board 820 of the adapter circuit body 82; the second step is to place the adapter metal housing 32 on the component surface 8001 of the main printed circuit board 820 of the adapter circuit body 82; and the third step is to tighten the four nuts 62 and the four screws 823 fixed on the main printed circuit board 820 of the adapter circuit body 82.​ Referring to FIG. 2B and FIG. 2C, contact pins 8011 on the CFexpress Type B connecting plate 801 of the adapter circuit body 82 will communicate with the CFexpress Type B standard electrical connection interface.
Referring to FIG. 3A, FIG. 3B, FIG. 3C, which shows the third embodiment of the present invention, the adapter thereof transfers a M.2 2230 SSD 5 into a memory card compatible with CFexpress Type B specification. The adapter comprises at least an adapter metal housing 33 (included in the adapter housing), an adapter circuit body 83, and four screws 61. The adapter metal housing 33 is provided with four screw holes 330 which facilitate installation and fixation of the entire adapter, and at least one M.2 connector 802 for SSD 5, a CFexpress Type B connecting plate 801 which is welded on the component surface 8001 of the main printed circuit board 830 and four through holes 833 used for installing the adapter housing are provided on the adapter circuit body 83. Referring to FIG. 3A, when the adapter is used, the first step is to insert the M.2 2230 SSD 5 (SSD 5 not belonging to the adapter example) into the M.2 connector 802 above the component surface 8001 of the main printed circuit board 830 of the adapter circuit body 83; the second step is to place the adapter metal housing 33 on the component surface 8001 of the main printed circuit board 830 of the adapter circuit body 83; and the third step is to tighten the four screws 61 and the four screw holes 330 on the adapter metal housing 33.​ Referring to FIG. 3B and FIG. 3C, contact pins 8011 on the CFexpress Type B connecting plate 801 of the adapter circuit body 83 will communicate with the CFexpress Type B standard electrical connection interface.
Referring to FIG. 4A, FIG. 4B, FIG. 4C, which shows the forth embodiment of the present invention, the adapter thereof transfers a M.2 2230 SSD 5 into a memory card compatible with CFexpress Type B specification. The adapter comprises at least an adapter metal housing 34 (included in the adapter housing), an adapter circuit body 84, and four screws 61. The adapter metal housing 34 is fixed with four screw nuts 340 which facilitate installation and fixation of the entire adapter, and at least one M.2 connector 802 for SSD 5, a CFexpress Type B connecting plate 801 which is welded on the component surface 8001 of the main printed circuit board 840 and four through holes 843 used for installing the adapter housing are provided on the adapter circuit body 84. Referring to FIG. 4A, when the adapter is used, the first step is to insert the M.2 2230 SSD 5 (SSD 5 not belonging to the adapter example) into the M.2 connector 802 above the component surface 8001 of the main printed circuit board 840 of the adapter circuit body 84; the second step is to place the adapter metal housing 34 on the component surface 8001 of the main printed circuit board 840 of the adapter circuit body 84; and the third step is to tighten the four screws 61 and the four nuts 340 fixed on the adapter metal housing 34.​ Referring to FIG. 4B and FIG. 4C, contact pins 8011 on the CFexpress Type B connecting plate 801 of the adapter circuit body 84 will communicate with the CFexpress Type B standard electrical connection interface.
Referring to FIG. 5A, FIG. 5B, FIG. 5C, which shows the fifth embodiment of the present invention, the adapter thereof transfers a M.2 2230 SSD 5 into a memory card compatible with CFexpress Type B specification. The adapter comprises at least an adapter metal housing 35 (included in the adapter housing), an adapter circuit body 85. The adapter metal housing 35 haves mounting buckle design 350 which facilitate installation and fixation of the entire adapter, and at least one M.2 connector 802 for SSD 5, a CFexpress Type B connecting plate 801 which is placed on the component surface 8001 of the main printed circuit board 850 used for installing the adapter housing are welded on the adapter circuit body 85. The adapter circuit body 85 may also have a corresponding design 855 for matching the adapter metal housing 35 with the buckle design 350. Referring to FIG. 5A, when the adapter is used, the first step is to insert the M.2 2230 SSD 5 (SSD 5 not belonging to the adapter example) into the M.2 connector 802 above the component surface 8001 of the main printed circuit board 850 of the adapter circuit body 85; the second step is to place the adapter metal housing 35 on the component surface 8001 of the main printed circuit board 850 of the adapter circuit body 85; and the third step is to buckle the adapter metal housing 35 and the adapter circuit body 85 in place.​ Referring to FIG. 5B and FIG. 5C, contact pins 8011 on the CFexpress Type B connecting plate 801 of the adapter circuit body 85 will communicate with the CFexpress Type B standard electrical connection interface.
 Referring to FIG. 6A, FIG. 6B, FIG. 6C, which shows the sixth embodiment of the present invention, the adapter thereof transfers a M.2 2230 SSD 5 into a memory card compatible with CFexpress Type B specification. The adapter comprises at least an adapter metal housing 36 (included in the adapter housing), an adapter circuit body 86. The adapter metal housing 36 haves mounting buckle design 360 which facilitate installation and fixation of the entire adapter, and at least one M.2 connector 802 for SSD 5, a CFexpress Type B connecting plate 801 which is placed on the component surface 8001 of the main printed circuit board 860 and two corresponding parts 863 used for installing the adapter housing are welded on the adapter circuit body 86. The adapter circuit body 86 may also have a corresponding design 865 for matching the adapter metal housing 36 with the buckle design 360. Referring to FIG. 6A, when the adapter is used, the first step is to insert the M.2 2230 SSD 5 (SSD 5 not belonging to the adapter example) into the M.2 connector 802 above the component surface 8001 of the main printed circuit board 860 of the adapter circuit body 86; the second step is to place the adapter metal housing 36 on the component surface 8001 of the main printed circuit board 860 of the adapter circuit body 86; and the third step is to buckle the adapter metal housing 36 and the adapter circuit body 86 in place.​ Referring to FIG. 6B and FIG. 6C, contact pins 8011 on the CFexpress Type B connecting plate 801 of the adapter circuit body 86 will communicate with the CFexpress Type B standard electrical connection interface.
Referring to FIG. 7A, FIG. 7B, FIG. 7C, which shows the seventh embodiment of the present invention, the adapter thereof transfers a M.2 2230 SSD 5 into a memory card compatible with CFexpress Type B specification. The adapter comprises at least an adapter metal housing 37 (included in the adapter housing), an adapter circuit body 87. The adapter metal housing 37 is provided with a mounting limit design 370 which limits the parallel movement of the adapter metal housing 37 and the adapter circuit body 87 on the contact surface thereof, and at least one M.2 connector 802 for SSD 5, a CFexpress Type B connecting plate 801 which is placed on the component surface 8001 of the main printed circuit board 870 and four magnets 873 used for adsorb the adapter housing are welded on the adapter circuit body 87. The adapter circuit body 87 may also have a corresponding design 875 for matching the adapter metal housing 37 limit design 370. Referring to FIG. 7A, when the adapter is used, the first step is to insert the M.2 2230 SSD 5 (SSD 5 not belonging to the adapter example) into the M.2 connector 802 above the component surface 8001 of the main printed circuit board 870 of the adapter circuit body 87; the second step is to place the adapter metal housing 37 on the component surface 8001 of the main printed circuit board 870 of the adapter circuit body 87; and the third step is that the four magnets 873 will adsorb and fix the adapter metal housing 37.​ Referring to FIG. 7B and FIG. 7C, contact pins 8011 on the CFexpress Type B connecting plate 801 of the adapter circuit body 87 will communicate with the CFexpress Type B standard electrical connection interface.
Referring to FIG. 8A, FIG. 8B, FIG. 8C, which shows the first embodiment of the present invention when the adapter metal housing 31 is with an outer surface covering layer 71 and an inner surface covering layer 72, the main printed circuit board 810 of the adapter circuit body 81 is with a component surface 8001 covering layer 91 and the bottom surface covering layer 92.
Referring to FIG. 9A, FIG. 9B, which shows the first embodiment of the present invention when the side surfaces of the adapter circuit body 81F are partially covered by the adapter metal housing 31F.

  1. An adapter, suitable for transferring a solid state disk (SSD) compliant with M.2 2230 specification into a memory card compatible with CFexpress Type B specification, comprises at least:
    ​An adapter metal housing having one or more through holes facilitating installation and fixation of the entire adapter, the adapter housing comprises the adapter metal housing at least;
    ​An adapter circuit body having at least one M.2 connector for SSD, one or more CFexpress Type B connection plates disposed above the component surface side of the main printed circuit board (PCB), and the adapter circuit body further fixing one or more nuts by welding or gluing for mounting the adapter housing; and
    ​One or more screws for mounting the adapter housing and the adapter circuit body.
  2. An adapter, suitable for transferring a solid state disk (SSD) compliant with M.2 2230 specification into a memory card compatible with CFexpress Type B specification, comprises at least:
    ​An adapter metal housing having one or more through holes facilitating installation and fixation of the entire adapter, the adapter housing comprises the adapter metal housing at least;
    ​An adapter circuit body having at least one M.2 connector for SSD, one or more CFexpress Type B connection plates disposed above the component surface side of the main printed circuit board (PCB), and the adapter circuit body further fixing one or more screws by welding or gluing for mounting the adapter housing; and
    ​One or more nuts for mounting the adapter housing and the adapter circuit body.
  3. An adapter, suitable for transferring a solid state disk (SSD) compliant with M.2 2230 specification into a memory card compatible with CFexpress Type B specification, comprises at least:
    ​An adapter metal housing having one or more screw holes facilitating installation and fixation of the entire adapter, the adapter housing comprises the adapter metal housing at least;
    ​An adapter circuit body having at least one M.2 connector for SSD, one or more CFexpress Type B connection plates disposed above the component surface side of the main printed circuit board (PCB), and the adapter circuit body is provided with one or more through holes for mounting the adapter housing; and
    ​One or more screws for mounting the adapter housing and the adapter circuit body.
  4. An adapter, suitable for transferring a solid state disk (SSD) compliant with M.2 2230 specification into a memory card compatible with CFexpress Type B specification, comprises at least:
    ​An adapter metal housing having one or more mounted nuts facilitating installation and fixation of the entire adapter, the adapter housing comprises the adapter metal housing at least;
    ​An adapter circuit body having at least one M.2 connector for SSD, one or more CFexpress Type B connection plates disposed above the component surface side of the main printed circuit board (PCB), and the adapter circuit body is provided with one or more through holes for mounting the adapter housing; and
    ​One or more screws for mounting the adapter housing and the adapter circuit body.
  5. An adapter, suitable for transferring a solid state disk (SSD) compliant with M.2 2230 specification into a memory card compatible with CFexpress Type B specification, comprises at least:
    ​An adapter metal housing having mounting buckle design thereon, the adapter housing comprises the adapter metal housing at least; and
    ​An adapter circuit body having at least one M.2 connector for SSD, one or more CFexpress Type B connection plates disposed above the component surface side of the main printed circuit board (PCB), and the adapter circuit body may further have a corresponding design for matching the adapter metal housing mounting buckle.
  6. An adapter, suitable for transferring a solid state disk (SSD) compliant with M.2 2230 specification into a memory card compatible with CFexpress Type B specification, comprises at least:
    ​An adapter metal housing having mounting buckle design thereon, the adapter housing comprises the adapter metal housing at least; and
    ​An adapter circuit body having at least one M.2 connector for SSD, one or more CFexpress Type B connection plates disposed above the component surface side of the main printed circuit board (PCB), and the adapter circuit body is further fixed with corresponding parts by welding or gluing to buckle the adapter housing, and the adapter circuit body may further have a corresponding design matched with the adapter metal housing mounting buckle.
  7. An adapter, suitable for transferring a solid state disk (SSD) compliant with M.2 2230 specification into a memory card compatible with CFexpress Type B specification, comprises at least:
    ​An adapter metal housing having a mounting limit design thereon for limiting parallel movement of the adapter metal housing and the adapter circuit body on a contact surface thereof, the adapter housing comprises the adapter metal housing at least; and
    ​An adapter circuit body having at least one M.2 connector for SSD, one or more CFexpress Type B connection plates disposed above the component surface side of the main printed circuit board (PCB), one or more magnet with arbitrary materials and shapes (used for adsorbing the adapter metal housing) is further fixed on the adapter circuit body by welding or gluing, and the adapter circuit body may further have a corresponding design for matching with the limit design of the adapter metal housing.
  8. The adapter of claim 1, claim 2, claim 3, and claim 4, wherein one or more through holes on the adapter metal housing and the adapter circuit body may be a whole circle, a partial circle, a square or any other shape, and may not be the same.
  9. The adapter of claim 1, claim 2, claim 3, and claim 4, wherein one or more screws used therein may be any external thread-containing structure with complete or partial threads, and may be different; the threads on the one or more nuts and one or more screw holes corresponding to the one or more screws, may be complete or partial threads of any length, including through holes with suitable thickness and suitable shape, and (the nuts and screw holes) may be different; and the shape of the one or more nuts may be any structure with internal thread, and may be different.
  10. The adapter of claim 1, claim 2, claim 3, claim 4, claim 5, claim 6, and claim 7, wherein the outer and inner surfaces of the adapter metal housing may be covered with one or more layers of any material, any thickness, and any shape partially or completely; the component surface and the bottom surface of the main printed circuit board (PCB) of the adapter circuit body may be covered with one or more layers of any material, any thickness, and any shape partially or completely, and the layer or layers covering the component surface of the main PCB of the adapter circuit body may serve as a middle part of the adapter housing, the layer or layers covering the bottom surface of the main PCB of the adapter circuit body may serve as a bottom of the adapter housing.
  11. The adapter of claim 1, claim 2, claim 3, claim 4, claim 5, claim 6, and claim 7, wherein the adapter metal housing may be designed to partially or not cover the pins of CFexpress Type B interface of the adapter circuit body, completely or partially cover the component surface of the main printed circuit board (PCB) of the adapter circuit body, completely or partially or not cover the side surfaces and the bottom surface of the main PCB of the adapter circuit body.
  12. The adapter of claim 1, claim 2, claim 3, claim 4, claim 5, claim 6, and claim 7, wherein one or more CFexpress Type B connecting plates placed on the component surface side of the main printed circuit board (PCB) of the adapter circuit body may be welded to the component surface of the main PCB of the adapter circuit body directly, or welded to the component surface or the bottom surface of the main PCB of the adapter circuit body through one or more flexible printed circuit (FPC).
  13. The adapter of claim 1, claim 2, claim 3, claim 4, claim 5, claim 6, and claim 7, wherein when there are more than one CFexpress Type B connection plates disposed above the component surface side of the main printed circuit board (PCB) of the adapter circuit body, these CFexpress Type B connection plates may be placed in a same plane, vertically stacked, or both.
