Description

TITLE OF THE INVENTION:
A system and a method for payment and instant refund using a biometric digital wallet
DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention is generally related to the field of biometric software technology;
Specifically, the present invention relates to a biometric payment and instant refund system.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Entire world has become more connected than ever with the help of recent communication technologies. The connections have affected daily lives of people that have changed our habits. One of the most significant changes is our payment behavior, where payments shift from cash to digital money. This shift offers new benefits to corporations because the digital payment solutions have become more global. Therefore, the willingness to use such solutions has increased dramatically.
An electronic wallet (e-wallet), or digital wallet, is a payment system that allows an individual to make an electronic commerce transaction, such as an online purchase of items using a computing device, e.g., a mobile computing device. A server-side e-wallet is created by an organization for and about an individual consumer, and is maintained on the organization's servers. Server-side e-wallets provide security, efficiency, and added utility for the consumer. Electronic wallets include a software component and an information component. The information may include, for example, a user's shipping address, billing address, and payment information/credentials including credit card numbers, expiration dates, and security numbers. An electronic wallet may or may not include a near field communication (NFC) hardware component, which allows payment transactions to be performed by swiping or touching a mobile computing device, card, fob, or other hardware onto or in proximity to an enabled terminal.
SUBSTITUTE SHEETS (RULE 26) Digital wallet account services enable a user to electronically store payment information in a user's digital wallet account. In payment transactions involving a digital wallet account, the payment information is often stored on an application or a module of a user computing device. Often, a user must have the user computing device present when conducting in-store digital wallet transactions with a point-of-sale device because the payment information is communicated from the user computing device to the point-of-sale device. For example, the user computing device and point of sale device may establish a wireless communication channel, such as a Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or NFC communication channel to transmit payment information from the user computing device to the point-of-sale device. However, such a process may be inconvenient to the user because the user must physically cany' a user computing device, such as a mobile phone, to conduct a digital wallet transaction, which may deter users from using digital wallet accounts. Current technology does not provide direct access to payment account information associated with a user's digital wallet account at a merchant system point of sale device interface for selection by a user for use in a transaction at the point-of- sale device.
The prior art reveals that there have been multiple attempts to develop a digital wallet and address the security and carrying the hardware component with the user. Following patent and non-patent literature describes the existing state of the art.
CN110599168A discloses a digital wallet login method and device based on a block chain, wherein the digital wallet login method based on the block chain comprises the following steps: if a digital wallet login instruction is detected, acquiring a first biological characteristic; obtaining a second biometric bound to the digital wallet; calculating a matching degree between the first biological characteristic and the second biological characteristic; and if the matching degree meets the target condition, controlling the digital wallet to be switched to a login state, wherein the digital wallet in the login state has the authority of performing authorized signature on transaction information by using a private key of the digital wallet. The embodiment of the application provides a new method for logging in the block chain digital wallet, the digital wallet can be logged in without inputting a private key, the use is convenient, and meanwhile, the safety of the digital wallet can be ensured.
SUBSTITUTE SHEETS (RULE 26) US 11195164B2 relates to systems, methods, devices, and computer readable media for enabling direct electronic payment transfers are disclosed. Identification information of a payer, based on a user selection at a mobile device, is received from a first application installed on the mobile device. A user identification of a payment amount is received via a second application installed on the mobile device. The second application is different from the first application. Biometric data of the user is captured at a biometrics reader of the mobile device, and then compared to authorized biometric data to authenticate the user. Upon successful authentication of the user, a request for the electronic payment transfer from the payer to the user for the payment amount is initiated from the mobile device.
US20150302413A1 describes an apparatus and method to conduct financial and other transactions using a wireless computing device. The wireless device includes an input display part, one or more processors, and at least one memory7 device. The memory device has stored therein a wallet application for completing transactions based on wireless data communications between the computing device and an external electronic device. The memory device further stores at least one electronic credential. The wireless device pennits transmission, via a near-field communication (NFC) module, of at least one electronic credential to an NFC reader of the external electronic device based on comparing a biometric characteristic of a user, detected by a biometric characteristic reader, with stored biometric information
The exhaustive literature search conducted to identify prior art indicated that several efforts have been made in the past to develop digital wallets. However, these wallets have not able to address the problem of security and carrying of hardware components along with the user.
Therefore, in light of foregoing discussion, there exists a need to overcome the drawbacks associated with the existing digital wallets.
The present invention provides a solution to address the above-mentioned problem and describes a biometric digital wallet.
